Teacher shot in parent's driveway on Mother's Day months after leaked police report involving teenager

    May 15, 2018

Suspicion surrounds the death of the young teacher as she was recently the victim of leaked confidential information from the Aliquippa Police Department involving her and a 17-year-old. But it's not yet clear, what, if any, this turn of events has to do with her murder.

Slain teacher was victim of confidential info leak concerning former student, sources say

"I counted six shots that I heard," said Fred Poore, a neighbor.

The 32-year-old school teacher was shot and died in the driveway. The Beaver County Coroner's Office has ruled DelTondo's death a homicide, saying she died of multiple gunshots to the chest.

Multiple gunshot wounds to the chest implies her killer confronted her face-to-face before shooting her.

She had been engaged to be married before the incident with the underage teenager.

Rachael DelTondo: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

    1. Rachael DelTondo Had Received Death Threats Before She Was Shot in Her Family’s Driveway After Meeting Friends for Ice Cream

Rachael DelTondo, 32, was shot after telling family that she was coming home from getting ice cream with a friend, WPXI reported. Around 10:30 p.m. Sunday night, police were called to the scene on Buchanan street, where DelTondo had been shot just after getting out of her car. Neighbors said they heard 10 to 12 gunshots.
According to Beaver Countian, DelTondo had gotten ice cream with two friends, including the daughter of an Aliquippa police officer, before she was shot. Her friends had dropped her off at her parents’ home, where she was living at the time, shortly before she was shot, unnamed sources told Beaver Countian. DelTondo had told Beaver Countian previously that she had received multiple death threats, including one that promised she wouldn’t live to see the end of 2018. She reported the threats to authorities.

    2. She Was on a Paid Suspension from Her Teaching Job After Police Found Her in a Car with an Underage Student

    3. DelTondo’s Name Was Leaked After School Officials and the Media Received an Anonymous Email Containing the Police Report

Since DelTondo was never charged, her name wasn’t released. In fact, the police report wasn’t public knowledge until the media and PA Cyber officials received an anonymous email in October 2017 that included the 2016 Aliquippa police report, Times Online reported.

    4. The Leak Sparked a Statewide Investigation into the Aliquippa Police Department

Beaver Countian later determined that media and school officials weren’t the only people to receive the leaked police report and other records by email. They stated that the documents were also sent via email or text to personal acquaintances of DelTondo and other residents of Aliquippa.

A lot of issues going on here. Whether or not she did engage in inappropriate behavior with an underage teen, someone sure had it in for her. I wonder what was going on with the leaks.:puzzled:

Interesting that the leaks began at the police dept and she had a friend whose father worked for the dept. Not implying her friend was involved, but seems to be key. She had just met that friend for ice cream when she called her mom to let her know she was on her way home, and then she's shot in her mother's driveway. Someone knew she'd be home soon and was waiting for her.

Investigators: Rachael DelTondo Knew Her Assailant, Murder Was ‘A Crime Of Passion’
By Andy SheehanMay 15, 2018 at 6:33 pm

They’ve been canvassing the neighborhood, reviewing surveillance tapes, and have sent DelTondo’s cell phone and others to a lab in Harrisburg to unlock the data, texts and communications.

“We’re investigating everyone that was driving in Aliquippa that night that was anywhere near this young lady’s house,” Lozier said.

Lozier won’t say if police have a suspect. But investigators believe DelTondo knew her assailant, and that the evidence will show her murder was “a crime of passion.”

Cops focus on teen boy previously caught with Pennsylvania teacher in steamed-up car in murder investigation
    By Katherine Lam

Sheldon Jeter Jr., who was found in a vehicle with Rachael DelTondo when he was 17, is the subject of a search warrant applied for by Aliquippa Detective Capt. Ryan Pudik on May 14, court documents obtained by the Daily Mail and Beaver Countian show. Authorities are hoping to look through Jeter’s cellphone, call records and geolocation data for clues as they search for who may have killed DelTondo on Sunday night.

The documents stated DelTondo and her friend, the daughter of Aliquippa Sgt. Kenneth Watkins, had picked up Tyrie Jeter, brother of Sheldon Jeter Jr., Sunday night and went to an ice cream shop before returning to DelTondo’s home. The friend left to drop Jeter at home when DelTondo was hit by at least 10 bullets.

DelTondo’s former fiancé has also denied any involvement in her death, and has offered an alibi for the night of the murder that his attorney says police appear to be satisfied with.
It has already been reported that Pennsylvania State Police investigated the Aliquippa Police Department after the leak about DelTondo and Jeter. The leak was believed to have come from someone inside the department, and afterwards, the department’s access to some statewide databases was suspended.

In addition, state police raided the Aliquippa municipal building in April, taking computer hard drives and paper documents.

Teacher caught in car with teen got death threats, cops say. But who gunned her down?
    May 18, 2018

John Paul, a reporter for the Beaver Countian, told CBS that DelTondo complained of threatening messages that warned she would die in 2018. He said she was "certainly" living in fear "at times."

"She contacted the police – Aliquippa Police Department," Paul said. "She told me it took about four days for them to come and get a report from her about it."

Santicola told the Times Online that Jeter also heard about the death threats directed toward DelTondo. According to the newspaper, he hinted her death could be related to something else: a possible corruption case against the city of Aliquippa.

Santicola alleged that DelTondo was just days away from appearing before a grand jury in that case, WTAE reported.

But Lozier told the Times Online that “I cannot comment on a grand jury investigation."

Odd this teacher was involved with these three brothers. Two of them look like thugs. Bolton had a drug conviction back in 2010. Strange case all around.

Wow. So she was 'friendly' with all 3 brothers. I noticed that the now-20-year-old seemed a bit resentful (in a text that was brought up) about his brother not taking him along when he went for ice cream. Apparently that brother didn't tell him who he was going with to get ice cream. Was DelTondo, maybe, seeing all 3 of the brothers secretly (not letting the other 2 know, but making each think she was seeing him exclusively)? Just a thought. :dunno:

Police continue to seek phone, Facebook records in Aliquippa homicide
    By Kirstin Kennedy

According to search warrants, police sought Facebook subscriber information for victim Rachael DelTondo, 20-year-old Sheldon Jeter Jr., Stephanie Watkins, who is the wife of Aliquippa police officer Kenneth Watkins, and the Watkins’ 17-year-old daughter who investigators know was with DelTondo the night of the homicide. The warrants for the Facebook information is in addition to phone records already sought from Jeter’s phone.
However, according to information in one of the search warrants, when Jeter was interviewed by police the day after the shooting, he refused to disclose the identities of several people he was supposedly with the night of the shooting. He also refused to disclose the address of his mother’s home where he told police he went that night.

Teacher stabbed to death in mother’s driveway had received death threats; search warrants cast doubt on ex-fiance’s alibi
    by Ellen Killoran
    May 26, 2018

DelTondo’s engagement to Catroppa ended badly nearly two years ago, after the incident with Jeter, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Catroppa reportedly told police that he had visited his mother and his mother’s girlfriend on the evening of May 13, the date of DelTondo’s death, and then returned home with his girlfriend at about 7:30 p.m. But data from his apartment building’s “key fob” does not register any entries to the building on that day. Police are reportedly seeking his cell phone records to help support or disprove his alibi.

Under the circumstances, I think her mother is right -- an outside agency should head the investigation.

Rachael DelTondo’s mother slams police department, calls for outside agency to investigate daughter’s murder
    MAY 30, 2018 | 4:51 PM

Her mother, Lisa DelTondo, contends that there is "no way" the Aliquippa Police Department should be involved in the investigation, according to the Beaver Countian.

The department last year leaked information about Rachael DelTondo in what Police Chief Don Couch classified as a clerical error.

It remains under investigation for public corruption, according to the report.

Aliquippa Assistant Police Chief Charged With Sending Sexually Explicit Material To Minor

According to a statement from the Beaver County district attorney, Joseph Perciavalle was arrested for the distribution of sexually explicit material to a minor.

He is charged with disseminating sexual material to a minor, corruption of minors and contacting minors with obscene material.

According to the criminal complaint, he sent a text to a group of people, including a 17-year-old girl. The video showed a half-naked woman urinating on a swing.

That minor is believed to be Lauren Watkins, who was with Rachael DelTondo the night she was murdered. She is also the daughter of Aliquippa Police Lt. Kenneth Watkins, who is on leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

The text was sent three days before the murder and was apparently seen by Watkins’ mother who replied, “My daughter is too young to see this.”

    Perciavalle replied: “She is 21.”

Watkins responded again saying her daughter was 17.

The text messages were discovered by county detectives when they confiscated Lauren Watkins’ phone as part of the DelTondo investigation.
