On Wednesday, the Sanborn County Sheriff wanted to talk with Cyriacks husband, Bradley Cyriacks.

A protection order filed by Rachel Cyriacks in August alleged domestic abuse in the relationship and said the couple was in the middle of a divorce.

The Sanborn County Sheriff says they have talked with Bradley Cyriacks in the last 24 hours. Sheriff Tom Fridley says he is not a suspect and had no information on where his wife might be.

Sanborn County authorities say a 30-year-old Woonsocket woman has been missing for more than a month and they're hoping to talk to her husband about the disappearance.
Rachel Cyriacks was last seen working at a temp job at Performance Pet Products in Mitchell on November 11. Her parents reported her missing Monday.

The 1995 Chevy pickup that Cyriacks was reported to be driving was found at the home that her ex-husband, Bradley Cyriacks, was staying at. Law enforcement looked into that lead, but it was unfounded.

Woonsocket Woman Last Seen In November
    Ben Dunsmoor reports:

More than a month after a Woonsocket woman disappeared, authorities hope her husband can give them answers.

The Sanborn County Sheriff says Bradley Cyriacks is not a suspect in Rachel Cyriacks' disappearance. He says they just want to talk with him.

Rachel was last seen working a temp job in Mitchell on November 11 and her last activity on Facebook was on November 12. Her parents reported her missing on Monday.

According to court papers, the Cyriacks have had a rocky past. Rachel filed a protection order back in August. At the time, she claimed Bradley was being abusive because the couple was in the middle of a divorce he didn't want. Rachel wrote in the protection order that he came to her Woonsocket home, pulled her hair, hit her in the face and threatened her with a knife.

Sanborn County Sheriff Tom Fridley says his office received new information Tuesday that indicated Cyriacks was last seen on November 11 at Performance Pet Products in Mitchell as opposed to the December 6 date as originally reported.

Authorities say Cyriacks is 5-foot-5 and 140 pounds. She may be driving a silver 1995 Chevy pickup with the South Dakota license plate number 4CH-634.

If you have any information, you’re asked to contact the Sanborn County Sheriff's Office at (605)796-4511.

Authorities still searching for missing South Dakota woman
    • Associated Press
    • Nov 20, 2016
WOONSOCKET, S.D. — The case of a woman who went missing in Mitchell has taken a toll on the community and law enforcement in the three years since her disappearance.

Rachel Cyriacks, 30, was last seen Nov. 13, 2013, in Mitchell. She was reported missing in early December that same year.

Authorities said searches in the area, surveillance footage and interviews haven’t turned up any evidence in the case, The Daily Republic reported. The pickup truck she was last seen driving was found in early January 2014 with significant damage to its undercarriage, but it hasn’t produced any tangible leads.

“It’s frustrating. Most cases you can close and put it to rest, but when you get something like this, you think about it and sometimes it’s in the back of your mind, but you never, ever forget about it,” said Sanborn County Sheriff Tom Fridley. “I know it hasn’t disappeared in a lot of people’s minds — people still care and they’re still looking.”

Fridley said officials suspect foul play and don’t believe Cyriacks will be found alive. But he said hope remains that justice will be served one day.

“We’re always hopeful that this is the one — this is the right piece of information,” Fridley said. “You’re always hanging on optimism because it’s the only thing we can do, and I can honestly say I believe there’s still optimism out there, it’s just been a long time waiting for this Christmas present.”

The Search For Rachel Cyriacks Continues Two Years Later
Tips Continue to Come to Authorities
    November 15, 2015
    Josh Bixler

Rachel Cyriacks was last seen on the morning of November 13th, 2013 in Woonsocket.

Only tips and leads are what are known of the now 31 year old, including a truck found in Huron that was the last known vehicle Cyriacks was in.

Sanborn County Sheriff Tom Fridley said they are working to find a quilt that they believe was with Cyriacks when she was last seen.

Fridley also said Sanborn County most recently joined the Department of Criminal Investigations, or DCI, this September in a search of the James River that used Side-Scan Sonar.

Despite the continual dead ends, Fridley praised the community for remaining active in the search.

“As of yesterday, I got another call of a possible direction so we’ll look at that and see if it’s old or new or a dead end,” said Fridley.

Fridley wouldn’t go into the specifics of the new tip, but did say it referred a location to where she may be located or buried.

With the search still open, Fridley remains frustrated this is happening to the Woonsocket community.

“It’s not one of those things that’s supposed to happen in these small communities where everybody knows everybody. This is a big city or a some other state problem. It isn’t supposed to be ours,” said Fridley.

Fridley encouraged the community to stay involved as they continue to search for Cyriacks.

Members of the Woonsocket community said they will continue to pray and hope for closure on this “very sad” event.

Fridley also said that Cyriacks’ husband, Bradley, remains the only person of interest in this case to this point.

Woonsocket Woman Still Missing As Leads Dry Up
    Leland Steva reports:

    Woonsocket, SD

The search for a missing woman from the Woonsocket area continues tonight. 30-year-old Rachel Cyriacks was last seen working at a temp job in Mitchell on November 11.

Tom Fridley took over as Sanborn County Sheriff in January 1991. In his three decades of watching over the county, he says he's never been a part of a search like this.

"We've have some people that went missing but usually we found them within 24 hours," Sanborn County Sheriff Tom Fridley said.

The town of Woonsocket is not used to dealing with cases like missing woman Rachel Cyriacks. Anita Fouberg's daughter went to school with Cyriacks, and she is surprised with how people in the community are handling the situation.

"I haven't gotten the feel from anyone because it hasn't really been talked about you know, other than what's been read in the paper and seen on the news up to this point," Fouberg said.

The Sanborn Sanborn County Sheriff noticed the same trend, but he would like to hear more discussion to help with the investigation.

"There's not as much as I think there should be, but I don't normally have a lot of missing people, so this is a new adventure to try and round up information," Fridley said.

Fouberg believes that the fact that Cyriacks traveled out of town a lot might have been why it's been so difficult to find her.

"She didn't work locally in town, so I mean she wasn't a visual person in town very often. In fact, she was here off and on for several years that I'm aware," Fouberg said.

The 1995 Chevy pickup that Cyriacks was reported to be driving was found at the home that her ex-husband, Bradley Cyriacks, was staying at. Law enforcement looked into that lead, but it was unfounded.

"The Division of Criminal Investigation worked with that one. At this point we have no foul play that we're looking at or anything else," Fridley said.

The Sanborn County Sheriff's office urges anyone with any information, no matter how small, to call them at (605) 796-4511.
