So glad you guys are helping with these older cases.

Wal-Mart has cameras in their parking lots now. Before that, I remember hearing about many episodes where men approached women in parking lots and rape them and even worse. I wonder if there were any other cases in the area where women were approached and raped in parking lots or anything else like that around this time?

Shannon case is an FBI case, I know the FBI doesn't just take up any random missing persons case. There has to be evidence a crime was committed, I would assume there is information being withheld form the public.

The TV show ''Disappeared'' has returned to the ID channel, I hope they take up some of these cold cases. There are so many missing people, and the TV show Disappeared is the only one currently running that focuses on missing persons.

Agree with you on both counts! I caught the episode on Tiffany Daniels and it was very informative. It helps too when you can visualize the area where they went missing. Really brings it home.

Shannon was scheduled to work at the Clarksville Wal-Mart from 4:30 pm to 9:15 pm, and when she did not return home, her husband went to Wal-Mart and found her car in the parking lot. Shannon’s purse was found in the car. Wal-Mart management advised that Shannon did not report for work that day.

Shannon Riley and Rahyab Arif were from League City, Texas. In 1995, they graduated from Clear Creek High School. Rahyab joined the US Army and they were married on July 20, 1996. He became a helicopter crew chief and he was stationed near Clarksville, Tennessee. Shannon and Rahyab had an apartment at 377 Peabody Dr. in Clarksville. Rahyab worked at the Army base each day and Shannon had a job at Walmart. On March 17, 1998, Shannon was reported missing and her car was found in the Walmart parking lot.

The tragic irony is that Shannon and Rahyab grew up in the center of the "Texas Killing Fields" near I-45, between Houston and Galveston. They moved 800 miles north to quiet Clarksville, Tennessee and Shannon was abducted.

Crime Stoppers to feature missing persons cases on billboards in new initiative

LARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — For the first time, Clarksville-Montgomery County Crime Stoppers has added missing persons to its list of cases they need help solving.

Billboards all over Clarksville are now displaying images of Shannon Elaine Riley Arif, who went missing in 1998. On March 17 of that year, she told her husband she was leaving for work around 9:40 a.m. She was scheduled to work at the Walmart on Fort Campbell Boulevard from 4:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m., but she never showed up.

Her car and purse were discovered abandoned there later. “We are just looking for anyone who knew her. I know that’s a long time to go without having information, but you just never know. People process in and out of Fort Campbell all the time,” said Kaye Jones, the chair of Crime Stoppers.

News 2 learned her husband, Rahyab Arif, was a solder and also the one who reported her missing. “Someone knows something. We want to hear from people who knew her or her husband, people who worked with her,” added Jones.

If you have any information on this case, go to ClarksvilleCrimeStoppers.com and click on “Give a Tip” to leave an anonymous tip. You can also call 931-645-8477. Arif is one of three missing persons cases Clarksville-Montgomery County Crime Stoppers will feature. The organization will pay out a cash reward for information that leads to solving this case and now the community can help encourage more people to come forward with information.

On Feb. 11, Crime Stoppers is hosting the annual Blue Jean Ball and Dinner. It’s their biggest fundraiser of the year and the money raised from the event goes to rewards for people who come forward with information that solves crimes.

To purchase tickets, call 931-320-5762 or 931-645-0315. They can also be purchased at Clarksville Police-Fire-EMS Supply.

“The urgency is definitely there because not only are we paying for tips on current crimes, that are being committed but we have our cold case program,” said Jones.

The second Annual Clarksville-Montgomery County Crime Stoppers Blue Jean Ball and Dinner will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center.

I recently lived in Clarksville and frequented that Wal-Mart. I had never heard of this case while I lived there (2011-2016). The billboards went up after I had left the area. Unfortunately this was before every parking lot had cameras so there is no real proof that she was even the one who drove the car to the parking lot. I find it hard to believe that she was taken from the parking lot if she arrived at work for her shift at 4:30pm. The road that Walmart is on also has the mall (opened in 1986) across the street and many restaurants etc. and is notorious for backed up traffic at that hour. I would imagine you wouldn't want to be stuck in traffic with a woman you just forced into your car. There are much better targets of opportunity with less risk available elsewhere if you are trolling for young ladies to take. I personally do not believe she was the person who drove that car to the Wal-Mart and whatever happened to her happened earlier in the day.
