On July 21, 1960, Sharon Gallegos was kidnapped from her yard at 512 Virginia Ave, in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Kidnappers grabbed Sharon and forced her into an old green car that was possibly a 1950 Dodge or Plymouth. Sharon was considered as a possible match for Little Miss Nobody, who was found in the desert near Congress, Arizona.

PagBTwo Hundreds of Angles Checked in Kidnaping July 28.-Federal, state and loca law enforcement officers intensified a search througn- out the Southwest today as apprehension mounted in the case of a tiny 5-year-old Alamogordo girl who was reported abducted by two strangers near her home a week ago today. No trace has been found of Sharon Gallegos, whom her mother, Mrs. Lupe Gallegos, had nick-named "La Huera" because of her blondish hair and fair complexion. The search was still centered in the Alamogordo-Southern New Mexico-El Paso area today while the Federal Bureau of Investigation issued a dossier, including a recent photograph of Sharon and complete description, in the hope it might turn up a solid clue. Seized by Woman Playmates reported she was seized by a large blonde woman in an alley to the rear of her home at 512 Virginia avenue on Alamogordo's south side just before 3 p. m. last Thursday afternoon, n aunt, Beatrice Gallegos, who was working m the kitchen of their home, reported she glanced out the back window just as the unknown woman dragged little Sharon into an old green car driven by an Anglo man. The car sped away. Officers, including a special squad of FBI agents called to Alamogordo to aid in the investigation, reported they h a v e checked out hundreds of possible ]eads during the seven days since the reported abduction without finding a trace of Sharon or her abductors. However, scores of investigators axe working around the clock on every angle of the 'New fan A School Ready For Fall Term case. Find No Motive Sharon's mother and Investigators have been able to come up with no motive in the case. Mrs. Gallegos, her sister, mother, a brother and six other young Gallegos children reside in the modest white frame residence where a constant vigil for word of Sharon and her abductors has ibeen kept for the past week. There is no telephone in the ·house. Sharon's mother works as a inaid at an Alainogordo motel to support the children, who range in a.ge from 5 to 15. Sharon is the youngest and was born on Sept. 6, 1955. "I would do anything to have my little girl back," the 36-year- old mother said. "If I thought it would help I would try to raise money to offer to get her back." There have been no demands for ransom. There has been no word from or sign of the unknown couple since they seized the girl. Several theories have been advanced by investigators concerning the abductors and their possible motive: 1. That a relative or possible acquaintance of the family had taken the girl. This has not been born* out by exhaustive investi gation. . 2. That a transient couple, possibly connected with one of the numerous construction projects in this area, may have observed Sharon Lee Gallegos Possibly the couple was child less, or had lost a child similar in age or appearance and sough ;o "adopt" such a child, bu could not through legal means One neighbor reported a woman fitting the description of the re ported abductress came to he- door and made inquiries abou Sharon, her mother and finan cial situation. The witness said the woman had been driving an older model green car, possibly ?. 1950 Plymouth or Dodge, and that the woman had two young children in the car with her. 4. That the woman reported seen in the case might actually have .been a man, disguised as a woman to confuse witnesses or for some other reason. The only witnesses in the alley at the time of the abduction near enough to get a good look at the abductors were children, relatives and playmates of Sharon. The only other witness, Sharon's aunt, was some 40 to 60 feet away inside the house and, according to officers, suffers from an eye ailment that limits her vision. She had been unable to ascertain the license number of the abductor's car and was not even certain whether it bore New Mexico, Texas or some other state plates. 5. That one, or both, of the reported abductors is . suffering from some sort of emotional disturbance or mental illness. While investigators check out every tip cr lead in a search for the little girl, Sharon's mother waits and wonders and hopes, and works to try to keep from thinking, of her little girl's shy smile and lonesome brown eyes looking up to her .for help that she cannot give
