How big is that lake? Seems like sonar would be able to find him.

According to the Atherton Tablelands website,
"Tranquil Lake Eacham is a former volcanic crater. Surrounded by dense rainforest, it has an average depth of 65 metres [213 ft].

It’s an enclosed catchment, isolated from any other waterways. The lake only fills with rain, making the lake crystal clear and water quality good enough to snorkel and dive in. It’s also popular with kayakers."

I don't believe he's been found. The Doe Network ''closes cases'' based purely on whether their case is publicly viewable on a LE website. Australian Law Enforcement is very selective about who they profile and not. Because Sjer's disappearance doesn't involved foul play, he probably didn't qualify.

Good to know! I did try to delve deeper into it to find out why it was closed but didn't find anything related to him. I did, however, find a few articles about search teams looking for another missing man in that lake.

One article I read speaks of divers that have searched, another talks about their efforts with underwater robots, finally his remains resurfaced 18 months later:
This is just one of many articles, if you google the mans name (Maurice Shutter) you can find more. :)
