Man arrested on suspicion of murder, torture in case of missing Nevada County man
    BY MOLLY SULLIVAN
    May 29, 2018 02:32 PM

Nevada County sheriff's detectives have made an arrest in the case of a missing Lake of the Pines man after finding human bones in a burn pile, the Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post Tuesday.

On Sunday night, Sean Danielle Bryant was arrested on suspicion of murdering 70-year-old Stanley Owen Norman, who disappeared April 15. Bryant, who was previously in custody on suspicion of domestic violence and torture, was a suspect early in the case, the Sheriff's Office said.

He was "one of the last persons" to see Norman before he went missing, the department said.

Teeth, Bone Fragments At Home Where Missing Veteran’s Body Found

Nevada County Sheriff’s investigators located new possible evidence in the murder and torture case of Vietnam veteran Stanley Norman.

Deputies say 70-year-old Norman’s life ended in a violent attack in the backyard of a Nevada City home, where investigators serving a search warrant Friday discovered the evidence, including human teeth, bone fragments, and rings.

It’s the same backyard where human bones in the remnants of a bonfire were recovered in a previous search.

Deputies were joined in Friday’s search by a team from the Human Identification Laboratory at Chico State.

Hearing delayed in Nevada County murder case as defense seeks evidence
    Local News | February 26, 2019

    <snip>
The defense attorney for a man accused in the slaying of Stan Norman said Tuesday that video and pictures of the homicide could be on a witness’ phone.

Attorney Kelly Babineau, who represents 42-year-old Michael McCauley, said she needs more time to examine a terabyte of information downloaded from Bianca Price’s cell phone. She told visiting Nevada County Superior Court Judge Jane York Punneo she only received the information late Friday, and asked the judge to postpone a Tuesday preliminary hearing.
Punneo sided with the defense attorneys and delayed the hearing until April 23.

Nevada County prosecutors add torture accusation back to Stan Norman murder case

    https://www.theunion.com/news/nevad...e-accusation-back-to-stan-norman-murder-case/
    News| May 17, 2019

Nevada County prosecutors in new court filings accuse two men of torturing Stan Norman when they killed him, a move that could bring a challenge from defense attorneys.

Superior Court Judge Linda Sloven ruled last week that enough evidence exists for prosecutors to pursue murder charges against Sean Bryant, 52, and Michael McCauley, 42. She also found enough evidence for a special allegation of torture against Bryant, but not McCauley.

Prosecutors on Friday revealed updated charges against the pair in a court hearing, accusing both of them of torture.

No matter how many times this happens, I can't fathom the darkness in a person's soul that allows them to do this to a life.
