NY STATEN ISLAND JANE DOE: WF, 20-27, found in vacant lot - 19 September 1991 - Scorpion tattoo

    Unidentified White Female
    * The victim was discovered on September 19, 1991 in Staten Island, Richmond County, New York
    * Estimated Date of Death: 1 day prior
    * Cause of Death: Blunt trauma to head

    Vital Statistics
    * Estimated age: 20-27 years old
    * Approximate Height and Weight: 5'4"; 120 lbs.
    * Distinguishing Characteristics: Brown, medium length, curly hair; brown eyes. Scorpion tattoo on right buttock.
    * Dentals: Available. Tooth 18 has a porcelain fused to metal crown that was dislodged during examination. Decedent possibly had braces in the past.
    * Clothing: A black, knit type, 3/4 length dress, with pink or fusia colored collar and pocket. White, size 8, low cut, "Thom Mcaan", "Baloon" sneakers. White bra, black, "G-string type panties with multicolored flowers. Victim was wearing a 18 inch gold, herringbone necklace, 20 inch gold rope chain necklace, a ring that contained a small, watch face with a expandable band, possibly black in color.
    * Fingerprints: Available
    * DNA: Available in FBI NMPDD.

    Case History
    The victim was located in a vacant lot on September 19, 1991. She was struck approx 17 times with a large hammer(body shop type). Her body was smoldering when found by a passerby. She was set afire with turpentine.

    I'm betting she was a Scorpio, born between October 21 and November 23rd?

    She had a tattoo at a time when you couldn't legally get one in the five boroughs; so it's either an "underground" tattoo, or she is from somewhere else. On this woman's NAMUS page, her dentals are described in such a way that she likely had braces, which means that she had parents who cared for and about her. Someone may be missing this woman in a place other than Staten Island

    I confess, I can't take credit for the info; a retired NYC detective told me that when he asked me to look at this woman's thread. I didn't know there was ever a time in the recent past when tattooing was illegal in NYC

    Whoever did this sounds like a very angry and dark individual..
