Family seeks answers 4 months after mysterious disappearance of Littlefield couple; $10,000 reward

Jerry and Susan McFalls disappeared seemingly without a trace from their home in Littlefield, Arizona, four months ago, and their family’s search for answers continues as strong as ever.

The husband-wife pair, both 63, have not been heard from since Jan. 11, and they are listed as missing and possibly endangered by Mohave County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI’s National Crime Information Center.

Since that time, friends, family and volunteers have conducted regular searches and community outreach events in the areas surrounding the small Arizona desert communities of Littlefield and Beaver Dam.

A reward offered by a private group has also been increased from $5,000 to $10,000 for information leading to the couple’s recovery or information leading to the arrest and conviction of persons found responsible for their disappearance.

“We are NOT stopping until Mom and Dad are home!! We need your help keeping the pressure on so those responsible or that know something will come forward and put an end to all this,” Meridee McFalls, the couple’s daughter-in-law, said in a post on the family’s Facebook page.

'This is B.S.': Neighbor named a person of interest in couple's disappearance insists he wasn't involved as it emerges his wife had previously shot at the missing husband with a BB gun

An Arizona man who has been named as a person of interest in his neighbors' disappearance has claimed his innocence.

David Myhaver, 52, said he had nothing to do with the disappearance of his Littleton, Arizona neighbors Jerry and Susan McFalls, both 62.

'All I can say is B.S., because none of it is factual,' Myhaver told KSL. 'My name is being dragged through the freaking gutter.'

The McFalls were last heard from on January 11, when they texted family to say they were leaving their Littleton, Arizona vacation home to return to their main home in West Jordan, Utah.

They family reported them missing when they failed to return as promised.

When cops searched the couple's vacation property, they found the home virtually undisturbed, despite the open and unlocked front door. No valuables appeared to have been taken and food was left out on the counter. The couple's money, guns, medications and pets were also left inside the house

Local police searched the house and the neighborhood extensively but didn't find any more evidence as to why the couple vanished.

Myhaver was named as a person of interest on January 26, but his name was not released until last week.

He was named a person of interest because his wife, Lida Oakley, was charged with shooting Jerry with a BB gun in the weeks before the man's disappearance.

Those charges were dropped in February because the couple went missing. The state says they will refile the charges if the couple are found alive.

Myhaver described the shooting incident as a 'he-said, she-said' thing. He said he tried to keep his distance from the couple.

'I never talked with them, never did anything with them, never been over there to visit with them or nothing,' Myhaver said.

He says he's frustrated that his name has been connected to the case.

'It’s a nightmare,' he said. 'There’s nothing I can do about it, because it’s beyond my control. I have to go with the flow.'

Regular searches are being held for the couple, the most recent which happened this weekend.

Daughter-in-law Meridee McFalls says the family doesn't expect the couple to be found alive anymore.

'Somebody’s done something to them and it’s a matter of time,' she said. 'That’s the most important thing, I think for us — not necessarily who did it, it’s finding mom and dad and getting some closure with them.'

For those who don't know or are curious, Littlefield is a wide spot in the road in the northwest corner of AZ.
It's right off I-15 between Las Vegas and Mesquite, NV.

Thank you SWMNBN for the awesome updates. :good:

Are remains found near Utah-Arizona border missing Utah couple?

A Woods Cross family was waiting to hear Friday if the remains of two bodies found near the Utah-Arizona border belong to a couple missing since the beginning of the year.

The family of Jerry and Susan McFalls was informed by the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Thursday afternoon that two bodies had been discovered Monday in the Virgin River Gorge area.

“He wouldn’t give me a whole lot of details as to a specific location where at,” Meridee McFalls told the Deseret News. “They were unsure at the time whether they were male or female.”

The remains were taken to "the FBI crime lab," according to a statement from the Mohave County Sheriff's Office, though it did not say in what state. FBI investigators and sheriff's deputies combed through the area for evidence for four days before announcing their discovery, according to the statement. The sheriff's office did not say who found the remains.

Investigators asked the family if they could expedite dental records on the couple to help identify the bodies.

"From their house to the gorge is about 3 to 4 miles,” Jerry McFalls Jr. said. “My mom had degenerative back disease … and she couldn’t walk more than 100 yards in that kind of terrain. They always took their side-by-side if they were going on the dirt roads or one of their cars if they were going somewhere else. They really didn’t walk anywhere."

"If it is them, they did not get there on their own - it’s one thing that we know for sure,” Meridee McFalls said. “All their vehicles were at home. They did not go for a walk up the gorge any direction.”

Shell casings were found near the couple's truck in Littlefield and at least one handgun, possibly two, were missing from the house, court records state.

In March, a private investigator hired by the family said he believed the McFalls were the victims of homicide.

A sheriff's office spokeswoman on Friday said she did not know how long it would take to identify the remains that were found or determine a cause of death.

Officials identify set of remains found in Arizona as missing Utah woman

The Mohave County Sheriff's Office identified one of two sets of human remains found in the Arizona desert as belonging to missing Utah woman Susan McFalls Thursday afternoon.

Medical examiners were able to identify one of the sets of remains as belonging to 63-year-old Susan McFalls by comparing medical records to a medical device located with the remains.

The second body has not yet been identified and the investigation is ongoing. The Mohave County Sheriff's Office said the remains have been forward to the FBI Crime Lab for scientific examination.

Friends create memorial in honor of Jerry and Susan McFalls

It has been more than a year since Jerry and Susan McFalls disappeared from their home in Littlefield, Ariz., leaving their family in Utah wondering and waiting for word of the couple’s fate.

In that time, authorities have identified the remains of Susan McFalls, and now family and friends are working to make sure their story remains in the public’s mind.

Friends of the McFalls created a unique memorial to the couple, who are now presumed to be dead.

Authorities requested we no disclose the exact location of the memorial, but it is somewhere in Mohave County, Ariz. The memorial came to life over the past few weeks and took the family by surprise.

“It definitely was hard to go down and see. Definitely, made it a lot easier to see the amazing tribute our friends had made for us,’ said Meridee.

The investigation is ongoing. The family is still waiting for information about whether the other remains found were Jerry McFalls.

(KUTV) — It’s been six months since two sets of human remains were found in the Mohave Desert. While one has been identified as Susan McFalls of West Jordan, the other set has yet to be ID’ed.

The McFalls, Susan and Jerry, seemingly vanished back in January of 2018 from their second home in Arizona. The food was still on the table, the TV was on and music was playing in the garage – but the couple was gone.

Their son, Jerry Junior and his wife Meridee, have been tirelessly working to bring them home and thought they’d get some closure with the discovery of the remains. But, now, they don’t even know where those remains are.

Meridee tells us she calls and emails the Mohave Sheriff’s Department weekly but gets the same answers over and over again that they are still actively investigating the case.

8 months after bodies found south of St. George, McFalls family still seeking answers

More than half a year after two bodies were found a few miles south of St. George, the family of Jerry and Susan McFalls are still awaiting answers.

The McFalls, who were both 62 when they mysteriously went missing from their home early last year in Littlefield, Arizona, are the subject of a homicide investigation after one of the bodies was identified as Susan McFalls.

The other body, however, remains unidentified after being sent to the FBI crime lab for DNA analysis in October. The delay in identification has become a major source of frustration for the couple’s family as they seek closure and justice.

While the family “fully anticipates” the other body to be identified as Jerry McFalls, the couple’s daughter-in-law, Meridee McFalls, told St. George News the wait for confirmation has been “very frustrating.”

“They will not give us an answer as to how much longer we will be waiting,” she said Tuesday. “They were found 232 days ago and we do not think this is an acceptable amount of time to wait for answers in a double homicide or identification.”

“Unfortunately, there is no new information to give about the investigation,” Mohave County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Anita Mortensen told St. George News Tuesday. “We are still waiting on the results of the DNA testing to positively identify the second set of remains and we do not have an estimated time of when we will receive that.”

I'm sad to know they are deceased but had a bad feeling about it when they went missing.

While doing a little more reading on the case I came across this article:
The article was printed before they were found, but had some interesting information
    that I'd not read before.
Also, I want to clear up my previous statement. I said Littlefield was between Las Vegas
and Mesquite. But it is Between Mesquite, NV and St. George, UT. It is on I-15.

The entrance of the McFalls home still boasts past remnants of the next door neighbor’s unwelcoming décor.
The McFalls purchased the home after the neighbor lost one of two homes in a foreclosure.

Also according to family members, an additional person of interest in the case has contacted them several times,
leading them either away from or toward the location of the missing couple.
The particular person has contacted the family several times offering places they
should go check for the bodies and even offered to get some friends together on dirt bikes to aid in the search efforts.
When the help had been accepted and a time and place set, he never showed.
