    • Distinguishing Characteristics African-American female. Black hair, brown eyes. Jones has pierced ears and a burn scar on her left thigh. Her nicknames are Mimi and Me Me.

    Details of Disappearance
Jones was last seen in Penns Grove, New Jersey, shortly before midnight on April 18, 2002. She was last heard from at 1:00 a.m. the following day, when she had a telephone conversation from her apartment in Mullica West Apartments in Harrison Township, New Jersey.

When her brother became concerned and went to the residence to check on her, he discovered the front door to her apartment was open. Jones has never been heard from again.

Foul play is suspected in Jones's disappearance; authorities have classified it as a homicide. She left behind her keys and purse and also her two-year-old daughter, and her family says she was a dedicated and enthusiastic mother and it would be uncharacteristic of her to abandon the child.

Jones's parents believe her child's father, Marc S. Goodson, was somehow involved in Jones's disappearance. Her relationship with him began when she was fifteen and was reportedly troubled; she once sought refuge from him in a women's shelter and had tried to keep him from finding out her home address.

Goodson was later imprisoned for unrelated child molestation and drug charges. He denies any involvement in Jones's case.

A previous girlfriend of Goodson's was murdered and her naked body was dumped in Alloway Creek in Quinton, New Jersey in 2000. That crime is unsolved and authorities are not certain if it is related to Jones's disappearance, but Goodson claims he is the prime suspect in both cases. Police searched the Alloway Creek area after Jones vanished, but found nothing pertaining to her case.

Jones grew up outside Woodstown, New Jersey. She was studying for her GED and living with her daughter when she disappeared. She has been known to frequent Salem City, New Jersey. Her case remains unsolved.

Seven years later, police continue search for Tomiene Jones and person responsible for her disappearance

WOODBURY -- The search for Tomiene "Meme" Jones and whoever was responsible for her disappearance continues, seven years after the Harrison Township woman was reported missing on April 18, 2002.
The Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office major crimes unit believes that Jones, who was 19 at the time she disappeared, met with foul play and is dead. The case was reclassified from a missing-persons investigation to a homicide six months after she disappeared from her Mullica Hill West apartment in Harrison Township. She was last seen alive in Penns Grove, Salem County on April 17, 2002. Her brother found her apartment empty and the front door open the next day after she failed to pick up her 2-year-old daughter from a baby-sitter. She left behind her keys, purse and car at her residence. She spoke to a friend on the telephone from her apartment about 1 a.m. April 18.

Jones' parents are raising her daughter, Janiyah, at their Woodstown home.

Though no one has been arrested in the case and no new leads have surfaced, the Prosecutor's Office remains hopeful that someone can provide information that will afford the Jones family closure and peace of mind in finding their daughter.

"For the sake of a stricken family, this ongoing tragedy of a missing child and parent must be resolved," said Gloucester County Prosecutor Sean F. Dalton.

A $10,000 reward is offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the disappearance of Tomiene Jones. The reward is jointly offered by the Jones family, the Prosecutor's Office and Harrison Township. The GCPO has just increased its share of the original reward by $1,000.

Anyone with information on Ms. Jones' whereabouts can call the major crimes unit of the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office at (856) 384-5500 or the Harrison Township Police Department at (856) 468-0600.
