Skeletal remains found are those of missing Oklahoma man, family says

    Updated: 5:34 PM CDT Apr 10, 2017

    HUGHES COUNTY, Okla. —

Family members confirmed that skeletal remains found on Saturday are those of a man who has been missing since July 2013.

Tommy Raymond Eastep was last seen at the Best Western Hotel in Eufaula. According to the “Missing Person – Tommy Raymond Eastep” Facebook page, skeletal remains were found on Saturday near the area where his truck was found over three years ago.

The Medical Examiner’s office confirmed Sunday that the remains are those of Eastep, according to the family.

Eastep’s family posted the following statement:

“We want to thank all of you who have shared his story, searched, supported, and fervently prayed for us through this difficult time. Our hearts are heavy with grief and we are weary. Please continue to pray for us as we begin to heal. We ask that you please respect our privacy during the coming weeks and months. Details regarding a memorial service will be posted at a later date. Thank you,” Clint and Nikki Eastep.

Remains of missing Eufaula man, Tommy Eastep, found in Hughes County

    3:01 PM, Apr 10, 2017

EUFAULA, Okla. – The family of a man who disappeared in July 2013 has confirmed that his skeletal remains were found.

Tommy Eastep, 30, vanished during a family trip to Lake Eufaula for the Fourth of July weekend in 2013.

A few months later, on Sept. 29, 2013, Eastep’s 2003 silver Chevy 4X4 pickup truck was found abandoned in rural Hughes County.

For years, Eastep’s family searched for clues on Eastep’s whereabouts.

“It’s been horrible because nobody’s seen anything, heard anything. It’s like people don’t want to get involved,” Eastep’s father, Tom Eastep, told KFOR in April 2014.

On April 9, 2017, Eastep’s family announced that the man’s skeletal remains were found.

According to the family, Eastep’s remains were found near the area his truck was located in Sept. 2013.

“We want to thank all of you who have shared his story, searched, supported, and fervently prayed for us through this difficult time.

Our hearts are heavy with grief and we are weary.

Please continue to pray for us as we begin to heal. We ask that you please respect our privacy during the coming weeks and months.”

The medical examiner has not released cause of death at this time.

I’m not sure why these findings of bodies are lining with Eastep. Now, there are two bodies found with no identification as yet.

    2/24/19
Oklahoma City, OK - Police are working to identify a body found Saturday evening in Lake Overholser.

Oklahoma City Fire Department's dive team pulled the body up within a few hours. Police say they are waiting on the medical examiner's report to determine if foul play was involved.

“Detectives are going to get involved in the case. The Medical Examiner is going to do their process. They’re going to have a full investigation like we will, and we’ll probably work on identifying who that person is,” said OKCPD Sgt. Jeff Dutton.

If you have any information you're asked to call the police.

OKLAHOMA CITY - Police are investigating a body that was found washed up on the shore of Lake Overholser Saturday afternoon.

Police haven’t yet identified the deceased but described him as a possible teenage or young adult who is partially clothed. They said from where he was found, the can’t see any injuries of signs of trauma.

The body was discovered by a woman who was walking around the lake around 2:30 p.m. It’s located near the southernmost edge of the lake.

The homicide unit is currently investigating until foul play has been ruled out.

Last week, another teen’s body was found in Lake Overholser. Police can’t say whether the two are connected.
