He was last seen at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Beverly Park area (in the 5300 block of Picnic Point Road) wearing a blue T-shirt and blue shorts. He had left his home on foot to attend a youth group meeting at a church in the 4700 block of 116th Street SW, the sheriff’s office said.

Search underway for missing Mukilteo teen

Snohomish County sheriff's deputies are conducting a missing persons investigation for 16-year-old Tyler Christensen, who was last seen late Tuesday.

Authorities say Christensen has no runaway history and they consider his disappearance suspicious because he has strong ties to family members and his church.

Police describe Christensen as 5'11" and 145 lbs with blue eyes and light brown hair in a buzz cut. He was wearing a blue t-shirt and blue shorts.

So the information we have from SCSO is that they were out searching the area for Tyler Christensen a 16-year-old who was reported missing at 3:15 AM this morning. The investigation which is led by SCSO Detectives arrived to interview the family to make sure he was, in fact missing and not a run-away. SCSO detectives believe that this out of the ordinary for Tyler to not contact someone for help. “Christensen has no runaway history and his disappearance is considered suspicious because he has strong ties to his family and church,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release. SCSO requested the assistance of Snohomish County's Search and Rescue team & the SCSO helicopter (SNOHAWK).

Tyler is homeschooled, in shape and loves to run. He is very connected with his family and friends. It is unknown at this time which route he would have been walking/running to get to his destination at the 4700 block of 116th St SW in Mukilteo. Tyler did not have a cellphone with him when he disappeared.

The community around the area can help by checking outbuildings of their properties. If you have a large property check it. If you're a dog walker, walking the area and find something suspicious don't hesitate to call it into either 911 or the SCSO tip line 425-388-3845.

SCSO will keep us update with information as soon as they have it.

Here is an update on Tyler Christensen who went missing from Mukilteo, Washington on April 19th.

His family is asking everhone on the Peninsula to help find him after there was a credible sighting. He was dropped off on Viking Ave. between Poulsbo and Silverdale the night he went missing. He was hitchhiking and was seen between 10:30 and 11pm between Kingston and Poulsbo. A man said that Tyler was asking for directions to Shelton. He was upbeat, and he told the gentleman that he was planning to hike in the Olympics. Tyler had a backpack with him. His family is hoping that this means he had some sort of a plan to survive on his own for an indefinite period of time. He took the ferry so that indicates that he has some amount of cash with him.

Grocery stores, restaurants, convenience stores, etc. should be on alert for Tyler if he attempts to purchase anything. Tyler's family is asking for people on the Peninsula to post fliers and search the area. You can print fliers from the website (www.helpfindtyler.com) and go to grocery stores, restaurants, convenience stores, ferry terminals, ranger stations, gas stations, and anywhere else you can think of to post fliers and get Tyler’s face out there. If you are able to search, please be safe: go in teams, search during daylight hours, and dress appropriately for the weather. Tyler could be anywhere on the Peninsula, but a good place to start would be Shelton, then spread out from there. IF YOU THINK YOU SEE TYLER, please call 911 right away. After you call the police, try to talk to him. Tyler is not dangerous, and if there is any chance that it might be him, please do not let him out of your sight! Thank you so much for your continued prayer and support. Even with a new tangible way to ‪#‎HelpFindTyler‬, please continue to pray for Tyler to be found and brought home safe and soon. Tyler is 16 years old, 5'11", approximately 145lbs, with blue eyes and light brown hair in a buzz cut. He was last seen in the area of the 5300 Block Picnic Pt. RD, wearing a light blue t-shirt and dark blue shorts.

How certain are they that the guy who states he was hitchhiking is not suspect?

Not only that, but even if he's telling the truth...a 16 year old boy should not be hiking in the Olympics. Alone. With only a backpack of supplies.
