New clue in case of missing Mukilteo teen who disappeared 3 weeks ago

"We received a tip on Sunday that someone had picked him up between Kingston and Poulsbo," Liz Christensen, Tyler's sister, said Tuesday.

She said her brother was seen hitchhiking on the same night he disappeared. They believe he took a ferry to Kingston. The man who gave him a ride said Tyler seemed upbeat and was asking for directions to Shelton and planning to go hiking in the Olympics.

    Why did Tyler go missing?

"I'd like to ask him that. I honestly don't know," said Liz.

She said there were no problems at home and they have no idea why he left. She thinks he may just be on an adventure and looking for something, but has no idea what that is.

    Bumping for Tyler. ...

Praying for him and his family .....

Though he left on his own I don't have a good feeling about the silence everywhere specially after his backpack got found.....

Tyler. ... Please... If you are out there let your family know that you are ok....

I wasn't aware his backpack was found. According to the Facebook page it was found back in May, about a month after he disappeared.

There's a list of things that have made me never have a good feeling about this one. And that just adds to it. :( I really hope he's okay somewhere.

What really worries me is that he seems to have vanished with his things left behind including the food....

That should have been enough reason to search deeper and further into the woods, even though he was considered runaway at that time....

These two facts ring very unpleasant and scary thoughts to mind...

Including the whole weird background situation with the family...

‘We don’t know why he left’: Teen has been missing for 2 years

Tyler Christensen’s disappearance has gained attention on social media recently, even though the Edmonds-area teen has been missing for two years.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office started receiving Facebook messages last week from people asking about Christensen, said Shari Ireton, a sheriff’s office spokeswoman. Several tips have come in every day, but they haven’t led to any discoveries, she said.

“It’s still an open investigation,” Ireton said. “If there’s anyone in the public with new information, we would love to have that.”

On Saturday, Christensen’s family posted an update on a “Help Find Tyler” Facebook page. They ask that people do not contact the family personally out of curiosity, as the situation is very painful. The Facebook page should be updated if any information becomes available, according to the post.

“We do not know why he left, if he is still out there, or if he is with the Lord,” the post reads. “Please pray for new information, for answers, and for continued strength.”

Christensen’s 19th birthday is in June. His DNA has been entered into federal databases for missing persons.

Detectives believe Christensen left home on his own volition, and took the Edmonds to Kingston ferry the same night. He had never run away in the past.

Christensen’s backpack was found by the High Steel Bridge near Shelton in Mason County in May 2016.

The news about missing teen Aubrey Carroll being found after two years running about the country gives me hope that Tyler is on a similar adventure.

This is the bridge Tyler's backpack was found near. It is in Olympic National Park, where he mentioned hiking. :/

No sign of missing Mukilteo teen three years after he disappeared

The family of a missing Mukilteo teen says there have been no new leads in his disappearance.

"Three years later we miss you even more, Tyler. You are always in our hearts and on our minds. He is still missing. We still don’t know what happened, nor do we have any new leads or updates. We keep looking, sharing, hoping, praying. We haven’t given up. Trusting the One Who knows all the answers, even if we never will."

She is hoping people will go to grocery stores, restaurants, ranger stations and gas stations and post the fliers, especially in Shelton and the Olympic Peninsula. She is also encouraging people to help search for them but reminding them to go in teams, search during daylight hours and to dress appropriately for the weather.

"The last thing we would want is for someone else to go missing while searching for Tyler," said Liz.

She's praying her brother is alright and hoping he knows how much his family loves him.

"We want Tyler to come home. Whatever's going on. It doesn't matter why he left. We're not mad, we're not upset. We just want to know that he's OK," said Liz.
