Parents of URI grad who vanished 9 years ago still search for answers

Wojciech Fudali had a degree in international business, lots of friends and an active social life. He also had a sudden and strong interest in religion and yearned for a simpler life. Nine years ago in Narragansett, he vanished into a winter morning. His parents want to resume the search. “At this point,” his mother says, “we have nothing left to lose.”

In the early morning hours of Dec. 6, 2008, a 22-year-old man disappeared from a house in Narragansett, leaving behind his friends, his wallet and his clothes.

His name was Wojciech Fudali (first name pronounced Voy-tek). Now, almost a decade later, his mother, Anna Fudali, of Wilbraham, Massachusetts, is vowing to revive the search for her son.

“We are offering a $2,500 reward for information that leads us directly to our son, whether he is alive or deceased,” said Anna. “My husband Ryszard and I are getting older and we are looking for answers. Our son had a promising future ahead of him and we’d like to see him happy, healthy and back on track.”

With so many unanswered questions and no resolution in sight, the family is turning to the public for help. In addition to the reward money now being offered, the Fudalis are publicizing the case on social media, and have submitted DNA to the national DNA database in case any unidentified remains can be matched to their son.

“We will do what it takes to revive this case,” said Anna Fudali. “We are so grateful to have a small team of people helping us and we are considering all investigative options. We can’t be quiet anymore and just wait. At this point, we have nothing left to lose.”

The Narragansett police have followed up on one recent tip about a possible sighting, said Lt. Scott Vellone. “We will continue to follow up on any leads or new information as it becomes available,” he said.
