TES was out there early on. I wonder if they helped find her? I didn't see them mentioned?

It just amazes me how people can convince others to help them cover and/or help commit horrendous crimes.

A Fort Worth woman whose remains were found in far West Texas last week had been in a heated argument with her boyfriend the night she disappeared in October, the boyfriend told police, according to an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by WFAA-TV."

"Her remains were found “together with” plastic painter’s cloths that matched those bought by her boyfriend, Robert Fabian, the same day she went missing, the affidavit said."

"They began to argue over an ex-girlfriend of his, Fabian told police, according to the affidavit. Fabian said Verk left his apartment between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. to go home and take care of her dog."

"Fabian initially told investigators that he stayed at his apartment the entire time Verk was there. But when asked why a neighbor saw him leave, Fabian admitted that he drove to a Dairy Queen about 3 a.m. “to think about his relationship with Zuzu,” the affidavit said.

When he returned, Verk was still at his apartment. He escorted her out and watched her leave, he told police.

Fabian’s downstairs neighbor later told police that he saw Verk’s vehicle still parked outside the apartments about 4 a.m.

Later the same day, about 10 p.m. on Oct. 12, he bought three painter’s drop cloths at a Dollar General store with his friend’s credit card, the affidavit said.

When police searched Fabian’s apartment, they found one of the drop cloths not the other two."

"Outdoor adventures, thoughtful debates, some smiles, some laughs were all thrown to the forefront drawing tears from the crowd.

Her spirit, according to university President Bill Kibler, is the reason the university has decided to name their new amphitheater after Verk.

It was the first event ever held there. However, it will now serve as much more than just a theater.

Now, it will be known as the Zuzu Verk Outdoor Classroom and Amphitheater. "

Affidavit provides detailed timeline of what allegedly happened the night Zuzu Verk disappeared

The arrest affidavit for Robert Fabian, who was Verk's boyfriend, gives a police account of the chaotic days that followed Verk's disappearance on Oct. 11, specifically following the actions of Fabian and his friend, Chris Estrada.

On Oct. 14, when police finally searched Fabian's apartment, they did not find any sheets or pillow cases on his bed, according to the arrest record, and found only one of the plastic painter's drop cloths Fabian and Estrada purchased the night of Oct. 12.

The night of the 14th, when Verk's disappearance was made public, Fabian's friend quoted him as saying, "If I know a really big secret and two people know it, then the other has to be dead."

Investigators confiscated digging tools and soil samples from the home of Fabian's sister, a person of interest in the case, the same day they took Fabian into custody. Authorities said Fabian's mother and brother are also persons of interest in Verk's disappearance.

Complicit in covering up the crime, I believe.
The things people will do for family. Ugh.
Too bad they didn't think of Zuzu's family.
Throw the book at every last person who had any knowledge or involvement of the crime.

There's no way I'd cover up for my kids if they murdered someone, which is one reason I highly doubt they ever would!

BREWSTER COUNTY -- It took just 15 minutes for Judge Roy Ferguson to grant Robert Fabian a significant bond reduction in his charge related to the disappearance and death of Sul Ross student Zuzu Verk.

As you saw first on CBS7.com, the bond for Fabian was reduced from $500,000 to $175,000. He will also be allowed to live in El Paso while wearing an ankle monitor.

During the court proceeding, Assistant Attorney General Geoff Barr told the court that the state plans to return to the grand jury to present additional evidence and potential new charges against Fabian.

“It’s likely, yes, Your Honor,” Barr said.

Judge Ferguson asked for the degree of the charge Fabian could face – he currently faces a second degree felony charge.

“There is a potential for a first degree charge..” Barr said, later asking not to reduce the bond. “When we look at the safety of the community, Your Honor, the only thing I can add is that his conduct offends just the basic notions in human dignity, reflects his sheer disregard and respect for the value of human life.”

Chris Estrada pleads no contest in Zuzu Verk trial

One of the men accused in the death of SUL Ross State University student Zuzu Verk took a plea deal.

The Brewster County Sheriff's Office states that Chris Estrada pleaded no contest this morning in court to charges related to Verk's death.

Judge Roy Ferguson handed down a guilty verdict on a tampering with evidence charge.

Estrada will be sentenced after the conclusion of Robert Fabian's trial. Fabian is the other man accused in Verk's death.
