The Alpine Police Department is searching for Zuzu Renee Verk, 22.

Verk is described as 5 feet tall, 110 pounds with blonde hair and hazel eyes. Her natural hair color is brown but has recently been colored blonde.

She was last heard from during the early morning hours on Wednesday.

We're told she is a student at Sull Ross State University and works on campus.

Police told us they will be looking at cameras at a Stripes store after employees say they saw her with a man.

Mother of Missing Alpine Student Looking for Answers

Alpine Police confirmed in a Friday Facebook Post that Zuzu Renee Verk, a 22-year-old white female 5’0”, 110 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes has not been heard from since the early morning hours Wednesday. APD said she was also an employee at the University. Police said they believe she may be “endangered”.

Her mother, Lori Verk, tells us that Zuzu and her on-again off-again boyfriend went out to to the movies with a group of friends Tuesday night.

Zuzu's mother says that she still hadn't heard from her come Friday. She then called Zuzu's boyfriend, who said he also hadn't heard from her.

Verk tells CBS 7 News that Zuzu's boyfriend said she never showed up for her mid-term exam on Wednesday and she missed her shift at work.

Verk says Zuzu and her friends were planning to go camping in Big Bend National Park on Friday just after mid-terms.

Verk tells us Zuzu's phone is dead. We reached out to police to ask more about what we learned from the mother, but a dispatcher said they were “too busy” to talk about the incident and hung up. A family friend plans to put up missing signs in the Midland-Odessa area.

Helicopters, search dog look for missing Alpine student

Helicopters, a search dog and more than 100 people from the Alpine community are helping search for Zuzu Verk.

The Alpine Police Chief tells CBS 7 they're using resources from law enforcement agencies across West Texas to help search for Verk.

The aircraft is covering the outlying areas of Alpine, while the community takes care of areas where Verk would walk her dog or hike trails, as Verk is known to be an avid hiker.

On Sunday, Brewster County Sheriff Ronny Dodson took flight in an El Paso Customs and Border Protection helicopter.

"At this point we are looking for anything and everything. We have very limited info as to what might have happened to Zuzu," Alpine Police Chief Russell Scown said.

All-out-search underway for Texas college student, 22, who went missing after going on a date to the movies

An all-out search for a missing college student has been launched by authorities in Texas after her family said she disappeared more than a week ago before going on a date.

The Texas Rangers and the FBI are assisting in the search for Verk, which is was expanded outside of the Alpine area.

Verk had left her parents' home in Alpine, which is about 100 miles from the Mexican border, to go on a date to the movies on the night of October 11.

Authorities do not have a suspect or a person of interest as of Wednesday. It's also unclear who Verk went on a date with the night she was last heard from.

The Alpine Police Department is looking for two vehicles possibly related to her disappearance: a grey 2006 Jeep Liberty and a 2004 Mazda Miata convertible with a beige colored top.

Both of those vehicles were spotted in the area between 12am and 10am on October 12, police say.

A $30,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the whereabouts or the safe return of the young woman.

Yeah, I'd love to know more about this date. Were they "on" or "off" that night? Did she leave with him, or some other dude? I have questions that I'm sure the detectives know already!

Family of Zuzu Verk Plead for Boyfriend's Help; Reward Increased to $100,000

The family of Zuzu Renee Verk, a 22-year-old Coppell woman living in Alpine who was reported missing last week, is pleading for her boyfriend to help in her search as a reward for information leading to her location or safe return has increased to $100,000.

Verk attends Alpine's Sul Ross State University and was last seen there on Oct. 12.

Following her disappearance, Verk's family arrived in Alpine to assist in the search.
"We've been embraced in a way that astounds us. Each day the search gets bigger and more extensive and more impressive, the resources that this small town has managed to gather to find our daughter," said Glenn Verk, Zuzu's father, during a news conference Friday morning. "I've found myself helpless and the only thing that I've really been able to do that seems to make any sense is to thank everyone."

The search for Verk has involved a number of local and state agencies as well as private search organizations -- all looking by air, on foot and on horseback.

Boyfriend a 'person of interest' in disappearance of Texas college woman

Authorities in Texas said Friday they have a "person of interest" in the disappearance of a 22-year-old college student last seen more than a week ago.

Investigators said the woman's boyfriend -- whom they did not name -- is "not cooperating" in the search for Zuzu Renee Verk, a student at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas, about 100 miles from the Mexican border.

The Texas Rangers and FBI are assisting in the search for Verk -- which has expanded outside of the Alpine area -- and a $50,000 reward is being offered for her safe return.

"At this point, we are still believing that she is alive," Alpine Police Chief Russell Scown said, according to Fox affiliate KDFW-TV. "We're hoping for the best outcome. We want to return her safely to her family."

Reward For Missing Keller Girl Increased To $100k

The reward for a missing college student from Keller has gone up to $100,000.

Alpine police have been busy over the weekend. They’ve watched hundreds of hours of surveillance video from businesses and homes near the place Zuzu was last seen.

Police have also released photos, saying this 2016 white Ford Mustang is a key piece of evidence in this case.

Glenn Verk says they haven’t noticed Zuzu’s boyfriend helping in the search. He called on him to step up and help.

Sheriff: Search for Zuzu Verk has covered 400 square miles

Covering an area roughly “the size of the state of Connecticut,” Brewster County deputies and other agencies continued their search on Tuesday for missing 22-year-old Zuzu Verk.

Her family says she disappeared after a night out with her boyfriend. Alpine Police confirm he was the last known person to see the young woman.

Deputies used three drones in their Tuesday effort, focusing partly on areas closer to town where someone may have missed something in earlier search efforts.

He said crews have now covered numerous counties encompassing more than 400 square miles without any sign of Verk.

Police Chief Russell Scown said Verk’s boyfriend, Robert Fabian, continues to remain a key person of interest in the case but isn’t cooperating with the investigators.

Investigators again interviewed a key potential witness on Tuesday, Chris Estrada, one of Fabian’s friends.

He is the owner of a white Ford Mustang that investigators seized and collected evidence from
last week. Police said he is cooperating with the investigation but Sheriff Dodson said a polygraph test taken by Estrada on Tuesday was "inconclusive."

A neighbor of Fabian's at his apartment complex said he had been asked not to discuss what he knew in detail. He did say he heard the couple arguing the night Zuzu disappeared.

Police: Zuzu Verk’s boyfriend now a suspect in her disappearance

The boyfriend of a missing college student from Keller has been named a suspect in her disappearance, Alpine police announced on their Facebook page Wednesday.

Before Wednesday, Robert Fabian had only been a person of interest in the case.

Authorities have said Fabian hasn’t cooperated, but his lawyer, Liz Rogers, released a statement to KMID-TV in Midland:

“He is distraught over the disappearance of Zuzu as is everyone in our community … he has cooperated with the Texas Rangers and local law enforcement, we are in the process of conducting our own investigation and we fervently pray that Zuzu will be found alive and well.”

Fabian’s family members are considered persons of interest in the case, along with one of Fabian’s friends.

“We believe there are other persons of interest that are mainly [Fabian’s] family,” Scown told the TV station. “We do believe they have more information about Zuzu’s disappearance, but we don’t believe they are being fully cooperative with that information.”
