ONGOING CRIME BREAKING NEWS!

Starting in January 2020, this thread is about the news as it breaks!

Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

IMO- stay in jail

Could be but not enough to be sure. They did break into it. Not like it was just open and they had an opportunity. The box did say "science care." Not enough info. Sounds like questions of why it was parked in that neighborhood and neighbors in the area wonder the same....

Neighbors, meanwhile, are wondering whether the suspect intended to steal the remains, or something else entirely.

I mean how are heads transported? Would they be in jars or in a cooler...? They just throw them in a box? It all sounds a little odd...

True, could be either. Guess we won't know until more comes out, if it does. You'd just almost think such things wouldn't be untended. Or shouldn't be. I mean I guess I wouldn't expect a Brink's armored truck but it is human body parts... I mean did the driver just park and go in somewhere for a visit or something...

Maybe he had to run inside real quick before he could head out.

Let's see:

That's one way to get ahead(s) in the world.
I hope they get ticketed for ignoring the "Stop Ahead" sign.
When they're caught I hope they face serious charges.
I can see why this made headlines.
I hope they give the suspects lie detector tests. They're probably all bald faced liars.
I don't see how people who do this kind of thing can face themselves in the morning.
Looking ahead, I hope they're more careful in the future.
This was a major mistake. I'm sure some heads are gonna roll for this.

No body will bail them out.

This poor defendant, isn't it always the poor defendant these days? Jails just don't seem to be up to their high standards these days. Or their food I guess. Only part of an apple. Something wrong with the other part? Poor dear. Food allergies. This woman's allergies and need for a special diet I think should be confirmed by the jailhouse doctor--I mean with her penchant for outlandish lies, it probably isn't even true.

A 39 year old bimbo who cried abduction and harm. Maybe her ex-bf can provide the menu of what he fed her for the 3 weeks she was with him but hallucinated him to be two Hispanic women instead. Her little vacation while all were frantic and looking for her and thinking there was an abductor running around to worry about. I wonder how scared her own children were, what a thing to put your own family through...

Give her a plate of apples. Problem solved. :sigh:
Another case of "if you can't do the time, don't do the crime".

One other a bit disturbing thing to me is in nearly all of the photos of the two of them, she is looking straight into the camera and he's only looking at her. Nearly every single one. IF it had only been a couple here and there, I would not think a thing about it, but adding to her husband's denial, it adds another dimension to it.

Yes but it wouldn't be fair to the other prisoners if she got all of the apples :(

Next it will be I can't eat Gala, I have to have Fuji. I doubt it is apples she wants anyhow, that was just the only thing she was able to eat, and then only part of it.

On reading this the other day, this one really sickens me. We've seen others pull similar things and worry communities both for the victim and their own safety, use police and federal resources, etc. and I don't think much of any of them but often they are young and I think don't think out the consequences to others or ramifications if caught but she is a 39 year old married mother. And continued to lie to feds, etc. when given the chance to come clean.

Disgusting, revolting woman. Apparently more than a bit dumb on top of it.

You're in jail lady, not at the Ritz.

Yeah, I agree. I tell myself to not judge a person's character by just looking at pics of certain times and their actions in just this particular mistake in their life but in this one, there is a lot of indication about the self gratifying type she is and how special I believe she feels she is. I keep wanting to comment on the hub and her own family, trying to resist too much of it, but what is the matter with him?? OR her family? If you stripped away this woman's fake veneer he is married to an ugly self centered and uncaring b**ch if you ask me.

Didn't know the case until I saw it here but is there a lot of SM and pics of her and them, etc.? People out there online should go start looking for food pics if any... What is she allergic to? Shellfish, peanuts, or just jail food? On the other hand I'm not sure she doesn't like even the notoriety... I doubt she likes jail though...

Ghislaine Maxwell wasn't happy either and it did no good, Alec Murdaugh couldn't get underwear (lie), etc. These special sorts gee... You'd think they'd be happy it isn't bread and water days but no.... And if it was, it would then be a gluten allergy...
