Missing Alabama realtor Ronald Dumas was abducted, Huntsville police say: 5 suspects sought

The case of missing 37-year-old Huntsville realtor Ronald Leslie Dumas Jr. has escalated from a missing person case to an active abduction investigation, according to the Huntsville Police Department (HPD).

“HPD obtained critical new evidence indicating that [Dumas] was abducted on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024,” the release reads.

“This development marks a significant shift in the investigation, which has now escalated from a missing person case to an active abduction investigation.”

Dumas was last seen on surveillance footage entering a liquor store with two women on Dec. 15, according to the release.

It continues that he left the store with them, appearing unharmed.

Through the investigation, HPD says they received information that led to the identification of the women and traced them to their apartment. Further investigation confirmed their connection to Dumas and revealed additional evidence of his abduction.

As the case progressed, the police determined multiple individuals were involved in the incident

“Since uncovering these findings, HPD investigators have worked diligently to establish probable cause and hold those responsible accountable,” the release says.

As a result, arrest warrants have been issued for the following individuals:
  • Quintarius Shikelion White, 32, of Memphis is wanted for first degree kidnapping.

  • Carissa Cash, 33, of Memphis is wanted for first degree receiving stolen property.
“HPD is working alongside the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force to apprehend these individuals and urges anyone who recognizes or encounters them to report their whereabouts immediately to local law enforcement,” the release says.

“With assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), a credible lead identifying a 450-acre area south of Memphis, TN, and extending into northern Mississippi, as a potential location for Dumas.”

“A coordinated search effort was conducted on Thursday, Feb. 6, by 20 investigators, including crime scene personnel and drone operators, from HPD, the Memphis Police Department, the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office and Southeastern Search Dogs to gather evidence and potentially locate Dumas,” the release continues.

This remains an active investigation and additional charges may follow as more information emerges, according to the police.

“HPD remains committed to pursuing all leads and ensuring justice for Dumas and his family,” the release reads.

BOLO: Reward Increased for Beloved Dad-of-3 Realtor Who Mysteriously Vanished, Car Found Abandoned

Police in Alabama uncovered new details in the disappearance of a Huntsville realtor who vanished Thursday.

The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) said Ronald Dumas Jr. was last seen on surveillance footage leaving a Huntsville liquor store with two women on December 15.

The following day, police discovered Dumas’ abandoned car on Interstate 40 in Tennessee, and his phone pinged 60 miles west from a cell tower near Jackson.

Police said they have records of Dumas’ phone moving south of Memphis on December 21, while family members said him traveling to Tennessee as highly unusual.

Dumas is reportedly the father of three children and would never leave his children voluntarily. Loves ones said he didn’t show any signs of stress before he vanished.

“The traveling to Tennessee without notifying any family or friends, the abandoning of the vehicle on the side of the road, those things are just extremely abnormal,” Shakeria Samples, the mother of Dumas’ son, told News 19. “He’s not going to abandon his kids. He’s got three kids they love and adore him, He wouldn’t walk away from them.”

That doesn't look like a dark peacoat/trench coat to me which sounded much more business like and is put on the missing poster. Looks to me as if he's dressed very casually in ia flannel shirt and jeans. Seen leaving with two women from the liquor store.

It seems, however, they are looking at several people allegedly responsible for his disappearance. However, it would seem he was perhaps living some kind of double life since he was not dressed as whatever loved one claimed he was dressed in, nor probably doing what they thought he was doing.

So what is going on here... I haven't really followed this one, so know little about it. Just skimmed a couple of posts just now...

Family statement from mid-January:

We, the family of Ronald Dumas, would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has reached out with concern, support, and prayers during this difficult time. Your kindness and solidarity mean more to us than words can ever convey.

It is with deep respect for the truth and the memory of Ronald that we feel compelled to address the narrative shared by the Huntsville Police Department regarding his disappearance. While we appreciate the efforts of law enforcement, we strongly disagree with aspects of their characterization of events and believe that more transparency and communication are crucial to understanding what truly happened the night Ronald went missing.

In our pursuit of answers, we have obtained the video mentioned by Huntsville Police. Today, we are releasing a still photo from that video showing Ronald on the night he disappeared. It is our hope that this image might jog someone’s memory or help someone recognize him. If you saw Ronald that night or have any information about his whereabouts, please come forward. Every detail, no matter how small, could be a vital piece in this puzzle.

If you have any information related to Ronald Dumas’ disappearance, please contact the Huntsville Police Department. If you prefer not to contact HPD, you may anonymously report your tip at 256-254-4240.

Unless I missed it, I'm not sure why they wouldn't give a description of his vehicle. It mentions the vehicle several times but no year, make or model. I mean anyone might have seen the vehicle IF they provided that info to the public.

Family of Ronald Dumas Jr. begging for answers

New details were learned Friday afternoon about the active abduction case of Ronald Dumas Jr.

"We have now received confirmation from the investigators that 'Ronnie' was taken against his will," Shakeria Samples said. Samples is the mother of Dumas' 12-year old son.

These new updates were announced by Huntsville Police Department mere minutes before a pre-scheduled update from Dumas' family Friday afternoon. The mothers of Dumas' kids addressed the public through the media's cameras, begging for answers.

"We want him home. If you know something, please say something to us. We need him back," Talia Berryhill said. Berryhill is the mother of Dumas' daughters, aged 4 and 5.

This new information comes nearly two months after Dumas was first reported missing. The Huntsville Police Department had previously asserted that no foul play was suspected and didn't believe he was in any danger.

Samples said, "If [HPD] had taken things seriously from day one and looked into things like his bank records or they were able to get a timeline, they would have been able to track down the video from the liquor store sooner."

HPD says Dumas stopped by MidCity Liquor Store on University Drive with two women, looking unharmed from surveillance footage. Now, 54 days since Dumas was last seen, the mothers of his children remain seeking closure - not just for them, but for their kids.

"Our kids need closure. They need it," Berryhill said. "Consoling our children is so tiring. We're just to the point now where we want to know what happened and we want to know where he is," Samples said.

"My daughter walks around with her dad's picture and goes to sleep with it, sets it up by her bed so that she can look at it while she is asleep," Berryhill added. "Could you imagine having to tell your child your dad was abducted, your dad has possibly been murdered or whatever the case may be? It's a very difficult situation and we just want answers at this point," Samples said.

The family says it's still offering a reward of $10,000 for any tips on where Dumas may be. But, that reward now has a deadline of February 28th.

This is just effed up that the family wasn't informed before LE went to the media.

Ronald Dumas, Jr. added to Alabama list of Missing and Endangered Persons

Dumas, Jr. has been missing since December. Previously, he was only on ALEA's Missing Persons list.

Huntsville Police says that new evidence points to Dumas being abducted on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024. During the news conference, family representative Troy Styles said that the family was not given this information before it was released to the media. He also said that the family's private investigator found some of the same names listed by HPD.

Styles said the family did most of the "heavy lifting" to get federal officials involved and get the word out about Dumas's disappearance and that they sent tips to HPD, who did not communicate whether or not they were received. Styles also says the HPD investigator did not keep them updated on progress.

It's a tough one to call. It isn't unusual they'd ask the family to keep the video and any info to themselves. I can imagine the family would perhaps think releasing the video would help, but the PD may have known it may have also alerted perps if released.

The lack of communication or acknowledgment with the family is harder to understand but there also can sometimes be reasons.

I'm talking of things in a few posts above, and not just one.

When the one mother I think said that they could have gotten right on his bank records and such, I honestly do not think they can until there is enough reason for a subpoena/warrant. They can't just access an adult's bank records if they are not sure he is not just voluntarily missing. Pretty positive on that as I've seen it in other cases.

All in all, it does seem they have not been good with the families (the PD) and it has taken a fair amount of time before they looked at these individuals, etc.

I noted the clothing was not the same in the video as on the poster, and the guy on the video said that too, that the family thought the public should know the clothing mentioned did not match.

I've said before that there is a big gap to bridge between families and LE and it could be done better, and LE has a job to do but families are naturally emotional and upset and wanting answers or at least reassurance.

Does sound like there is a lot of room for improvement and if something CAN be released to media, it certainly can be released to family then also if the public can hear it, and they should NEVER learn of it from the media, but should hear from LE FIRST.

I can't help but wonder what the heck happened here or what the motive was.

The families certainly have and are doing their part and involved a PI, media, and done all they can and it does seem like more than LE has, as to getting out word he was missing, and more.

I think one problem is LE is not REQUIRED in any way to work with or inform families at all to my knowledge. GOOD agencies will try, to a point, but they also have to be sure no family is involved and such first as well in many cases, and they still are not in as much of contact, even if they are better than most agencies, as families need or would prefer.

Didn't word anything here very great, and couldn't quite get my thoughts clear to do so, it is the wee hours and past time for bed.

I hope they get more info out on this one and soon, and that they find him.

December 15 was a Sunday for what it's worth. However, he was a realtor so he could have been showing a house, doesn't mean he was not working but one thing I've noticed is there is no info that I've seen on what he was out doing, when he left, when he figured he'd be back, we know he was in the liquor store, not much more than that. Does he have a significant other or is he with either of the moms of his kids? I guess all that stuff, unless I missed it, who first noticed he hadn't come home and when? Etc.

Well there's an example of abducting and robbing a man he found on a website, is that a dating website? Maybe the women were used in this case since we know he was seen with two women...

Sabrina seems to have gone AWOL. Her grandmother posted this prior to the case being upgraded to kidnapping. From what I gather, Sabrina was one of the 2 females in the liquor store.

Dumas family investigator speaks out on investigation

It’s been 57 days since Ronald Dumas Junior went missing. He’s a Huntsville realtor who was last seen on December 15.

James Andrews is a former Huntsville police officer and is the current private investigator for the Dumas.

He told News 19 that in all his years of work, he’s never seen a case like this.

Dumas’ car was found abandoned near Camden, Tenn. west of Nashville on December 16.

His phone was identified as having pinged heading towards Memphis, but there’s no trace of him. Five suspects including four from Memphis have been named.

Three have previously been arrested for kidnapping or carjacking.

Andrews said he had no assumptions heading into the Dumas case but was ready to look at any possibility.

“I don’t know Ronnie, didn’t know his family,” Andrews said. “So I had to go into it with an open mind too and I did consider and look at as ‘is he laid up with some other woman somewhere and just doesn’t want to come home or whatever?'”

But the private investigator said as he began his work a pattern started to emerge.

“But the more I looked into it, the more I talked to the family and every single person I’ve interviewed that personally knows Ronnie has said that there is absolutely no way,” Andrews said. “No way, there’s not been a single person that has said that it was a possibility that he would just walk away.”

The private investigator said he’s been contacted by people from Alabama, Tennessee, and as far away as California and Connecticut about this case.

He said every day another person comes forward or calls with a tip. Although that hasn’t led them to Dumas, he knows someone out there has the answer.

Private investigator for missing Huntsville realtor speaks out as the search continues

James Andrews is the Dumas’ family investigator. He contacted the family at the beginning of the search and said he had been doing the groundwork for this investigation for some time.

“A lot of it is just footwork, I don’t know if I have run into anybody in this case that wasn’t willing to talk,” Andrews said. “So it’s just making calls and calling people.”

Andrews was the one who found the footage of where Dumas was last seen at a liquor store in Huntsville on Dec. 15, 2024.

Andrews said he talks to people who may not want to talk to police. Andrews adds that the Huntsville Police Department is doing everything in its power right now to bring Dumas home.

“I do think that HPD is doing absolutely everything that can be done on the case,” Andrews said. " Just from everybody that I have talked to — they are working this case like crazy."

A family spokesperson told WAFF they just want to find Ronnie.

I wonder what info led the PI to the liquor store... It might seem minor but think about it, what would lead you to a certain store or area, etc...? He wasn't even wearing what they described. Someone knew his habits perhaps? Did the liquor store call the PI and they knew his name? That seems unlikely, why wouldn't they just call LE. Something led him there. Just curious as to what...
