Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

I agree and some of the same types probably don't talk much different about women when together as well... Not all but I am sure there is enough of it...

Still pretty dumb to do it in this situation thought and with a body cam on...

I hope the officers pull through. I wonder what happened. It sounds like only one suspect killed or injured all these officers. Did the suspect get alerted by someone they were coming? A sadder part is now there is no one to prosecute. I wonder how big this was? Crimes against children/exploitation...

While they should only be given for the right reasons and not abused, there are times there is valid reason for a no knock warrant. I am interested in hearing more about the case they were serving the warrant for.

Were these the agents that died or were injured? I don't think I saw names.

Wow, this sounds like quite the operation. I found this part of the article interesting--first that there is not much they could do and that is really discouraging to hear in such cases but then that a foreign country's agency alerted our FBI...

"The case opened shortly after Steven Chase launched Playpen in the summer of 2014. The FBI, which has numerous investigations involving the dark web, quickly became aware of the site, but “given the nature of how Tor hidden services work, there was not much we could do about it,” Alfin recalled.

That is, until December 2014, when Chase slipped up and revealed Playpen’s unique IP address—a location in the U.S. The gaffe was noticed by a foreign law enforcement agency, which notified the FBI."

An 11-year-old boy shot five times alongside his mother and teenage sister implicated the man who did it before dying at the hospital, according to murder charges.


TeKeith Syvone Jones, 26, was charged Tuesday in Ramsey County District Court with three counts of second-degree murder in connection with the deaths of his ex-girlfriend, D'Zondria Wallace, 30, and her two children, La'Porsha, 14, and Ja'Corbie, 11. Jones remains jailed in lieu of $5 million bail.


In a police interview, Jones eventually confessed to the shooting but gave inconsistent answers on the motive. "Jones didn't know why he killed them," charges say, but claimed he was trying to "save them."


"Hell, yeah, I saved them — they can go up and be holy," Jones reportedly told investigators, adding that he kissed all three victims.

Well gee, we have two Oklahoma cases in a row. Both involve murders of multiple family members although in one the alleged person responsible is also dead. In this one, why would someone's brother kill not only him but all of the children? Smh.
