Officials say they are investigating the case as a homicide. Taylor lived in the neighborhood of Churchill Heights, his home was between 100 and 150 feet from Faye's home. Taylor was not a relative or family friend. Police had spoken with Taylor earlier in the week and had been inside his home.

I wonder if this POS had been watching Faye and waiting for the right moment to grab her or lure her into his house. I've been so upset and knowing the police may have been very close to finding this gorgeous child before she was so cruelly taken from this earth is crushing my soul.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Fayes family, friends, community and all of those who searched so tirelessly for sweet Faye.🙏

I tend to think the same, he lived so close and more than likely saw her before. I also think he killed himself as he saw no way out as the police presence was constant and heavy, not out of any guilt or remorse. LE did an amazing job imo. So very sad the outcome was not different.

I absolutely agree he killed himself because he knew he would get caught and spend the rest of his life in jail.

Thinking of this little girl this a.m. The autopsy results are supposed to be released today.

I located a few articles, one of which was a skate rink owner who donated part of her proceeds knew Faye who loved to race at the skating rink I gather. Another has a couple of artists and work they did, one did a portrait of her. Both have videos. Then there are pictures and video of Faye nearer to the top of the page, the first ones are towards the bottom.

I couldn't figure out offhand how to link them separately so here is the page they are all in. Lovely tributes to this child.

3 p.m. is what this article says. I assume that is South Carolina time, they are actually an hour ahead of me so it would be a bit over two hours from now for me.

live now:
heartbreaking how hard this is on the one reporting to us (the Coroner). Cause of death was asphyxiation. She was only in the place where found a short time. She died shortly after abduction.

results of the man’s autopsy will be released to media after the press conference, out of respect to Faye’s family

This was live, starting at the 10.14 mark.

So was she killed only because she was trying to yell for help?

Wow. Heartbreaking.

I am always on the side of LE but I do not know if I have ever been so impressed as with the way this department handled this. I know we only see what is televised but still... The respect shown for Faye's family, protection of them throughout, the staying in the neighborhood from the 911 call on, to calling for assistance from other agencies quickly and more. One can see their hearts in it and yet they were professional and did everything possible. The refusal to release his autopsy results during this PC, showing only respet for Faye, until after the PC, as if he does not matter. He doesn't to me. I imagine he may have a family who does not deserve their grief but I have no sympathy for him. The taking her back from her autopsy with a motorcade yet ignoring the death of this likely perp, I put that wrong, no motorcade or respect for his life shown. Class act of a deparment who seemed to do everything they possibly could to find her.

He cut himself in the neck? I just saw that above as I was typing this. I suppose he could not risk a gun shot, too many cops around.

"I suppose he could not risk a gun shot, too many cops around. "

This part! This is also why I am thinking of why she was asphyxiated. He couldn't allow anybody to hear her. They were probably out looking for her at that time is my thinking.

She went to school in a patterned skirt, rain boots and of all things, a shirt that said "Peace". She went through her day,, rode the bus, got a lollipop from the driver, her mom met her and greeted her when she got off the bus and she went out to play in her own small yard. A normal day probably. But this evil POS lurked and probably had before.

You may be right because he reminds me of Patterson although the ages of the victims are different. Was he taking her to keep her or to have his way and kill her? But LE responded fairly quickly and maybe he did not expect the presence there was so he silenced her? Evil, evil.

I am just reacting at the moment but will it come to the point if you have children you have to GPS chip them and never let them out of their room?

Just venting, I will settle down but children are not sexual toys. They never touched on that out of respect I imagine and we don't know but he had some purpose.

I will stop there.

Edited for duplication.

The best part of this is reading the entire post of the teacher so hit the link. For me it took a bit to load.

I realize that Faye reminds me of Serenity, one was 6 and one was 9.

RIP.

A beautiful tribute to a beautiful child. Was it just 8 days ago we heard they found her? This is worth a read and tells more about who she was.

Faye Swetlik remembered around the world, six months after death

It was a story that rocked the nation about a little girl from Cayce.

Faye Swetlik, 6, vanished from her home in the Church Hill Heights neighborhood in Cayce on February 10 and was found dead three days later.

Now at the six months mark, her memory is touching lives across the world.

Julie Vollnogle started a Facebook page called "Rocks for Faye" in honor of the little girl.

Vollnogle knew Faye loved art and collecting rocks, so she had an idea. She started the page encouraging people to paint rocks in Faye's memory and share them with the community.

The rocks traveled throughout the midlands shortly after Faye's death. Six months later, Faye's memory is touching lives across the world.
