Missing Dallas teen is found locked in shed 1,000 miles from home after ‘meeting abductor online’

A missing 13-year-old girl from Dallas, Texas was found locked in a shed more than 1,000 miles away in North Carolina after she allegedly met her abductor online.

The girl was found at a Lexington property on Friday, the same day Texas authorities were alerted to her disappearance, WGHP reported.

North Carolina officials on Monday announced the arrest 34-year-old Jorge Camacho, who is accused of grooming the girl after they met online and later in person.

Mr Camacho is alleged to have kidnapped and held her captive for “sexual servitude”.

The suspect faces eight felony charges, which include rape, indecent liberties with a child, and human trafficking.

He’s in jail and his bond has been set at more than $1m.

Davidson County Sheriff Richie Simmons said at a press briefing that “they discovered that the juvenile had been communicating with an adult male through social media chat platforms. The content of the chat was consistent with grooming and enticement, and he enticed her to leave home where he picked her up in the (Dallas) area”.

The mother of the 13-year-old told WFAA that Mr Camacho and the girl had met while playing an online video game and that they had texted via the app Discord. She said they had spoken for a period of months.

The mother, only named as Esthela, told the local TV station that “it was very stressful and scary. We were hoping to see her again and thank God that was the case”.

Investigators were tipped off of Mr Camacho’s whereabouts on 10 March and a traffic stop was conducted. His vehicle was spotted on surveillance footage filmed near the apartments in Dallas where the girl was kidnapped.

Sheriff Simmons said they located the girl locked in a shed at the North Carolina property. She was taken to hospital and has now returned home.

Teen kidnapped in Texas found over 1,000 miles away in NC, cops say. Now man sentenced
Now, the man accused of kidnapping the 13-year-old girl has been sentenced to prison, according to The Dispatch newspaper and details Davidson County prosecutors shared with McClatchy News in a July 21 email.

Jorge Ivan Santos Camacho, 35, was ordered to serve up to 29 years behind bars for child sex crimes and first-degree kidnapping. The case reportedly involved an Alford plea, when “a defendant maintains his innocence but admits that the state has sufficient evidence to convict him and agrees to be treated as guilty,” according to the UNC School of Government.

Camacho — whose first name was spelled Jarge during the news conference and whose last name was spelled Comacho in a sheriff’s office email to McClatchy News — pleaded guilty to combined charges of statutory rape, statutory sex offense and kidnapping.

He was given a 20 to 29 year prison sentence, according to Garry Frank, district attorney for Prosecutorial District 33.

Jorge Ivan Santos Camacho, 34, of 10438 Linwood Southmont Road, Lexington, pleaded guilty in Davidson County Superior Criminal Court to felony first-degree kidnapping and felony statutory rape of a child under 15 years old. He was sentenced to 20 to 29 years in prison.

He was also ordered to pay $600 in restitution as well as court costs, and he will be required to register as a sex offender for the next 30 years.

So he has to register as a sex offender for all but one year he MIGHT be in jail. I'll have a conniption fit if he gets paroled.

Yeah it struck me right away wondering when being registered as one for life stopped? Is this yet ANOTHER thing they have changed on us all without our knowing??

So no worries he has to register once with his prison address right? Get real. Or does he have to tell them when he changes cells?? Or prisons if a problem?? Or if he goes to min security rather than max.

The sad truth of it is this is probably the named sentence and he will be out before the 29 years. We all know how that goes these days, it has become the norm rather than the abnorm.

I'd imagine that 30 years starts once he is released. You don't have to register when you're in prison...

They must immediately register with the sheriff in the county where they live if they are placed on probation or within three business days of being released from prison or jail.

Well that makes sense even though I'd count on little these days. I freely admit no time to read links. Just skim trying to catch up the best I can on all cases.

Even so it used to be an SO for life. When did that change? Since certain types of SOs can't be rehabilitated it should especially apply to them.

This girl thankfully wasn't murdered BUT in my opinion what he did is worth a life sentence. I know it doesn't work that way but it should. He locked her in a SHED many many miles fro home. You know darned well he didn't leave her alone after like one time which is heinous enough taking her there, and more.

Why shouldn't he have to register for life and why wasn't that given as part of it and WHY (which I'm guessing) should he get out well before these years are served?

He put in an Alford plea. Well whatever.

Is the judge giving weight to the girl that she communicated with an online predator? Or is this the FULL registering as an SO they can give him by law now?

$600 in restitution? What in the world? That doesn’t cover anything. It’s almost like leaving a penny tip to a waitress.

How much does therapy cost these days? His victim probably could use a little bit more money to cover that cost. Do they still make license plates in jail? If so, they can get paid so they can pay for the victims’ therapy.
