I would have made him tell me which friend. Address, Phone #. Especially at 7. You don't tell me, You don't go. And you call me from their house phone when you get there. Or I talk to the mother some way.

Seriously. Especially at 7 y/o.. you ain't even walking alone to your friends house at 7 much less walking out without telling me where your going.. that's whack. Still, I am so glad he's safe and I pray he continues to be safe.

And if the reporting is literally correct, he wouldn't SAY which friend. What do you mean he wouldn't say? That he didn't say would be understandable. Wouldn't say when asked would mean you are staying home.

Thank goodness he is safe.

A 7 year old won't say. Well guess what kid?! You don't get to SAY what you are going to do. So I'd SAY TOUGH S**T! You're staying home. Got something to say?.

His name and photo have been removed due to the nature of his disappearance. He was not at a "friend's" house.

Man suspected of kidnapping a child in the Colorado Springs area

A man is facing serious charges, including kidnapping, after a child was reported missing in the El Paso County area.

11 News is choosing to not report the name of the child. According to Fountain Police, investigators started looking into a missing child on Saturday. Detectives learned through several interviews the 7-year-old boy had been seen alone at different homeless camps and businesses in El Paso County days before the investigation started. Saturday afternoon, police learned the boy was with 28-year-old Kristopher Lockit.

Detectives tracked Lockit to an area near Marksheffel Road and Woodmen Road near Colorado Springs. The boy was found and unharmed, according to police. Lockit was charged with kidnapping, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and one misdemeanor count of reckless endangerment. They said Lockit had marijuana that he shared with the boy.

“[The boy] was taken into protective custody by Fountain Police,” part of a news release reads. “The Department of Human Services (DHS) was notified and responded. Against the recommendation of the Fountain Police, DHS placed [the boy] back in the home with his mother.”

A second adult male could face charges, however the investigation is ongoing. Police tell 11 News the suspect is known to the family. The boy’s mother was issued a criminal summons for child abuse. She spoke with 11 News and said she’s not willing to talk on camera quite yet.

Fountain Police said they recommended that the boy be removed from the home and taken into DHS custody.

“It was our recommendation to have DHS take custody of the boy,” said Commander Mark Cristiani with Fountain police. “It didn’t happen that night, he went back to the home that night, which is what’s not what we recommended, but again that’s not what the police really do, we make recommendations and the courts and DHS do what they need to do so, that’s kind of where we’re at with that.”

DHS did send a response to 11 News, saying, in part, “The decision to remove a child from a home is not made by a caseworker alone at a moment in time.” However, they also said they cannot comment on a specific case, even to confirm their involvement.

Man accused of kidnapping Fountain boy locked him in a shed, got him high on marijuana: Affidavit

Arrest documents from a kidnapping incident in Fountain last week allege that a 28-year-old man taught a 7-year-old boy how to smoke marijuana, got him high, and smoked methamphetamine around him.

Kristopher Lockit was arrested Sunday on suspicion of kidnapping, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and reckless endangerment after the boy had been reported missing. According to arrest records, Lockit told police he had seen the child across the street from a 7-Eleven at 601 S. Santa Fe. Ave. a week ago. Lockit learned the boy's name Saturday at Connie's Cupboard, a thrift store that gives to the homeless, at 594 Santa Fe. Lockit and the two started hanging out that same day, walking by a creek.

Lockit had a friend, Kristopher Davidson, pick up him and the child, arrest papers show. The adults were in the front of the vehicle and the boy was in the back when Lockit and Davidson started smoking marijuana.

According to arrest papers, Lockit told police he gave some marijuana to the child to smoke. They were smoking marijuana resin and the child was having difficulty getting it to light. Lockit helped the boy "light the marijuana, lit it for him and demonstrated to the boy how to inhale and hold it in." Lockit told police he felt the child was high because he "had mellowed out."

Afterward, the three wanted to spend time at Davidson's house in Falcon. Davidson drove the child to his home so he could ask his parents for permission to hang out. Lockit told the boy to "tell his parents that he wanted to stay a couple nights at a friend's house."

The child asked his mother, identified as 34-year-old LaAmber Miller, if he could spend the night at someone's house. According to arrest records, Miller reported the boy missing the next morning. She then told police that the child did not tell her whose home he was going to.

She told police that she told him no and that he went back outside to play. She said she didn't check to see if he had come home that evening before she went to bed. She was later issued a criminal summons for child abuse.

Arrest records say that when the child left his mom to go back outside, he returned to the vehicle and told Lockit and Davidson he could spend the night at their house.

Lockit then contacted his drug dealer to buy meth. The four of them drove to a Safeway where the dealer's girlfriend worked. Lockit told police the boy persuaded a customer to give Lockit $10, which he used to purchase the meth from the girlfriend.

Lockit told police he smoked some of the meth when the child was not in the car. He said he smoked more when he, the boy and Davidson arrived at Davidson's home in Falcon. Lockit and the boy were in the same room at the time, but Lockit told police he "made sure not to exhale in the child's direction."

Lockit said he set his alarm for early in the morning so as to be gone before Davidson's parents woke up. Lockit and the boy went to a different property, where they stayed in a shed set up as chicken coop, arrest records state.

Ashton tried to leave the coop several times, but Lockit prevented him from leaving and eventually put a lock on the door. He would later give the child the key, but told him he could not leave.

According to arrest documents, Lockit told police he began to reassess the situation and thought he should probably take the boy home. When asked what changed, Lockit said "he started thinking about the situation and feel (sic) it wasn't right."

According the documents, police canvassed residents in the area and with information from Lockit's aunt, eventually found Ashton, Lockit and Davidson in a shed at Davidson's residence in Falcon.

I am so far behind on the site it isn't even funny. But I don't need to be caught up to be like WTH with this one and these last posts.

Do these "guys" and this boy's mother know he is SEVEN years old? Just past "kindergarten age"????? If there is such a thing any more. Nothing like throwing a child into the world of a bunch of totally messed up adults. Smh.

A chicken coop? That reminds me of Gordon Northcutt. Apparently there are several adults who are complete morons here. Complete scumbags.

Colorado Springs man takes plea deal in kidnapping case

A Colorado Springs man accused of kidnapping a 7-year-old boy, forcing him to smoke marijuana with him and locking him in a chicken coop accepted a plea deal Wednesday that could see him avoiding prison time.

Kristopher Lockit, 28, pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree kidnapping, a Class 4 felony. His remaining charges, which included an additional second-degree kidnapping charge, marijuana distribution to a minor and misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor, would be dismissed as part of the plea agreement, Judge William Bain said.

"I did take (the victim) and took him to my house and locked him inside (the chicken coop) and wouldn't let him leave," Lockit told Bain during the plea hearing.

As part of the plea agreement, Lockit faces a maximum of two years in the Department of Corrections, but could also avoid any time in prison if Bain opts to give him a short jail sentence followed by probation.

Bain said a third option was for Lockit to serve between two to six years in community corrections, if he's accepted. Lockit's sentencing hearing is scheduled for Dec. 14.

Let's be real here. What was the intent he had for taking this child and getting him high? He didn't have ten bucks for meth but he had a lock and key on him for this shed? What broke person shares their marijuana with a child and locks him up. I wouldn't even be positive nothing did happen, the kid probably may not have shared it. The child clearly tried to leave and that is downplayed. NO prison time and leaving this man on the streets?!! Really? This at minimum WAS the kidnapping of a seven year old child!!!

I'm completely outraged at this "sentence"!!!!! No wonder LE has often told me that most of the people in our jails were treated terribly as children! If they don't put some of these abusive "adults" away, they will keep ruining lives and creating adult criminals! Oh, this really burns me up!

I would like them to be REQUIRED to explain THIS sentence!! FOR KIDNAPPING!! And the abuse of a minor. If giving a 7 year old drugs and holding him hostage isn't abuse I don't know what is!! Colorado is one state I am NEVER going to. This case is not the only one that give me a reason not to. Their secrecy, their laws, lack of justice and some really questionable people in the system and DEALS made, etc. The accomplice in the Kelsey Berreth murder is another. I could go on and on and on.
