Amber Alert issued for 2-year-old taken during home invasion in St. Louis County​

The Missouri State Highway Patrol issued an Amber Alert out of St. Louis County Thursday night for a 2-year-old girl reportedly taken during a home invasion on the 11200 block of Marbella Drive after an assault.

According to the patrol's Twitter page, they are looking for a teal Hyundai Elantra bearing partial Missouri temporary license plate number 06E that drove off in an unknown direction. Police are looking for two men wearing black ski masks and clothing and armed with handguns.

Aaliyah Abernathy, 2, was wearing an unknown shirt and pink leggings with white polka dots. Her hair was in a ponytail with pink and purple accessories.

I am though not buying half of this right from the start. I'm not sure if I hope I am wrong or hope I am right as far as her safety.

Unusually specific but then not specific.

Could it be? I guess it could be. There is always that once in a blue moon kind of random thing. TEAL. Black men in ski masks. Partial TEMPORARY plate. Pink and purple accessories.

I hope to he77 she is found safe. I just find the report odd. Or hoping it will come back to this is her dad or something family related. HOPEFULLY.

It didn't sound great to me either, which is why I posted it so quickly. Looks like there may be more info that they didn't and still haven't released. Wondering if it wasn't family related.

MSHP did not say if any arrests had been made in connection to Abernathy’s abduction.

My guess is family related. Safe and alive is the best. ALWAYS. But what their life is probably like? Drama filled. Danger filled, Abuse filled most likely.

It said she was abducted after an assault. An assault of who? Mom? Or the child? Mom is an instinctive guess but it could be of the child, who knows with that kind of reporting... She was abducted "after an assault".

I would hope someone is under arrest just for the assault if nothing else.

I know we have members here from MO and I love them as do all but that state is starting to really stand out with crimes and the things that go on there. Sad thing is even if in a state one doesn't have as much of it it just keeps spreading...

I'm not talking so much this one as the ones recently with women held and tortured, etc. MORE than one.

BUT I am sidetracking. Sorry.

I am so relieved this child is safe but I'm going to guess she doesn't live in a safe, secure or stable environment.

The suspects in connection to her abduction remain at large.

A preliminary investigation and witness statements provided to police found that two men in black ski masks broke into the home, took the girl and left in a car. She was found safe at around 9:30 in Ferguson and was being taken to a hospital to be checked out, police said.

According to a press release from St. Louis County police, the car associated with the suspects was found a short time later.

As of 10 p.m. on Thursday night, police were still looking for the two suspects, described as two men wearing black ski masks and clothing and armed with handguns.

5 On Your Side spoke with the girl's grandmother right before she was found. The grandmother said the men took the girl from her daughter.

"They kicked in the door and pistol-whipped my daughter and she was holding her baby and they were grabbing the baby and hitting her, and she finally let the baby go," she said.

IMO. This doesn't sound like a stranger abduction. Terrible but true that most stranger abducted children are dead in 3 hours. She wasn't hurt. It seems it was a way to get back at the mother for some reason.

It's someone she knows or another possibility is this was all staged.

They found the car in short order but haven't found the suspects. I'm guessing they know who the suspects are or who they likely are. That's pretty fast to find the vehicle unless there was a good description and plate number, a very quick look at cameras nailed it and then they saw it or it was that quickly abandoned and just noticed.

Haven't had time to read links. So they found or got the child but the men are at large? Or are the articles out of order?

Has LE even verified the story is true? Meaning the two men, the clothing they were wearing, the pistol whipping, etc.?

Hi. I am so far behind and miss everyone. I must be I am guessing at least 100 pages behind in the basement.

Now not even caught up on case threads so just hitting a few things morning and already the hours have gone too fast. Have a 12 to closing shift and have nothing ready for the work week much less me ready because I was gone all of yesterday.
