AMBER TUCCARO: Is her murder connected to the West Mesa Bone Collector case?

I wanted to re-create a thread here that was on the last crimewatchers.net site and is no longer

in 2015, I was very interested in looking back into the West Mesa Bone Collector case. I have an admittedly OCD fascination with tracking serial killers who have yet to be apprehended and theorizing their movements/potential victims etc. With that being said, I decided to attempt a comparison between the West Mesa victims unearthed in 2009 and any other crimes fitting a similar MO. (For those who need a quick update on the West Mesa Bone Collector Case, here’s some quick info: West Mesa murders - Wikipedia )

While I was studying the West Mesa case I noticed there were reports of phone calls made from the alleged West Mesa serial murderer to a detective, George Walker. I noted the killer taunts by phone (possibly by other avenues like email as well) and started looking into cases where:

1: missing women were indigenous/Latina and higher risk (prostitution or lack basic resources)

2. cases where the murderer contacted LE to taunt.

3. Cases spanning 1-2 years prior and after the West Mesa murder timeline.

To my surprise I searched to immediately find the story of Amber Tuccaro in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada who one night took a fateful ride in the car of a monster who claimed her life. This monster’s voice was caught in the background of a phone call Amber made to her brother. Her brother was in jail and the call was recorded. Thus, the killer’s voice was caught.

Amber was abducted and murdered in 2010 in Canada. The West Mesa burial ground in New Mexico, USA was unearthed in 2009. This, coupled with the killer’s sense of security in calling detectives after the West Mesa remains were discovered, had me theorizing we were looking at a murderer who left the USA for Canada in 2009 to avoid capture.

I sent the comparisons to the proper authorities. Needless to say RCMP in Canada handling Amber’s case did not bother to respond seriously. The US authorities handling the West Mesa case seemed to have their hands tied with limited information and not much cooperation from Canada. I hung my hat up momentarily until I could hopefully gain more evidence someday to help.

Jump to 2 days ago when I randomly googled about Amber Tuccaro’s case to update myself. Low and behold, I see articles that a man out of Utah is claiming that the voice of the suspect in the Tuccaro case is none other than his father, and that his entire immediate family backs him up on it. He says his father left the USA for Canada in... get this... 2009! His dad has been illegally staying in rural land in Edmonton, Canada since.

I am currently trying to get into touch with the man from Utah in hopes he will listen to the voice comparison I discovered and believe to be consistent with his father’s voice. Facebook messenger is a great avenue and I’m attempting connection there. He is openly and publicly looking for all the help he can get investigating his dad, but for now here is his public letter about his suspicion of his father:

If it turns out that this man is telling the truth and his father is both the West Mesa Bone Collector and Amber Tuccaro’s murderer, it will be a great justice for the victims It will also help me save face with the many people over the years who thought my voice comparison and theory was too far fetched

I also have had my suspicions over the years that the decapitated skull of a still unidentified red haired woman found buried in NV likely is also connected to the same killer. The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)

The murderer apparently lead authorities to the head via taunting letters and maps I’m well aware women with naturally red hair typically may not be the same demographic as Latina, but a red haired woman can still can be fetishized and demeaned.

it’s been a weird journey with these cases for me that’s for sure!

It looks like UID is listed as Caucasian on her Namus profile, but I do agree her profile is very limited. It likely is because only her head was found and her other remains have not been found and/or associated with her yet.

Two things I have comment on. One is a question, actually. I didn't see where the family states this POI was prior to 2009? I may have missed it.

The other is a comment in that as you've been looking into the West Mesa Bone Collector, I've messed around with any redheaded women being murdered. I had all of the tagged on our old site, and now have to do it all over again! Yes, there was a redhead serial killer, but there's many more redhead cases. With only 3% of the world's population having red hair, it's very odd to me. And yes, I'm a redhead, so that's how it got started.

oh goodness you are a redhead so you “get it”. My mom is a natural redhead and always dyed her hair to avoid being singled out growing up In the 60’s on. I personally think red hair is BEAUTIFUL! And yes RARE. You are so lucky

So DS was supposedly in the US prior to his retreat to Canada in 2009. DS’s son lives in Utah. So I think DS has been mostly in the Southwest/Western USA prior to 2009. That’s one thing I’m Defo wanting from the son as well - a timeline to see if his dad was in/near NM during the West Mesa murders.

“The pain never ends, it feels like it was just yesterday, especially with her killer still being out there,” said Tootsie Tuccaro, Amber’s mother.

“We’re never going to give up, ever. We’re not going anywhere and he needs to know that. The people who are not coming forward and know who he is, they’re just as guilty.”

Paul Tuccaro, a member of the Mikisew Cree Nation, also shared his story with Edmonton’s national survey. His sister, Amber Tuccaro, 20, was last seen in Alta’s Nisk in August 2010. Her body was found in a nearby field two years later. RCMP has not been charged with her murder.

As far as Tuccaro is concerned, the state’s inaction is consistent with his family’s experience of trying to get justice for his sister.

“It’s very frustrating,” he said. “If we were to go home and rely on (government and RCMP), we would still be sitting at home waiting for an answer that we would never get.”

Tuccaro says the state has been forced to take steps for public surveillance.

Neither Wilson nor South have stated whether the entire report will be published.

“Maybe there’s information out there that makes them accountable. If so, maybe they’re saying,” We have it, and we want to put it out. I’m only going to give you something. I won’t give you a report for now. ” I don’t think anyone will be happy, “Tuccaro said.

Neither Tuccaro nor Harpe sat awaiting recommendations from the working group.

Tuccaro uses his sister’s story to develop the MMIWG curriculum. Once that is done, he wants to make it available to both indigenous and non-indigenous schools through Alberta distance learning.

He also develops a website and “establishes a group” to defend and guide other families of indigenous women and girls who are missing or killed in the process.

Amber Tuccaro's family renews calls for tips, RCMP action in murder investigation​

The mother of Amber Alyssa Tuccaro is continuing to fight for justice, nearly 13 years after her daughter's disappearance.

The murder victim's family held a news conference at the Treaty 8 First Nations of Alberta office in Edmonton on Thursday in hopes of drawing attention to the unsolved crime.

"Please come forward if you know something about Amber's killer, what happened to Amber that day, please come forward. I beg you," said Vivian "Tootsie" Tuccaro.

"It's been 13 years and I pray to God that at some point they'll be closer," Noskey said. "Whoever that voice was, to get convicted, to be able to say yes, it was me, that would be a start [to] the process of healing and bringing closure to this tragedy."
