Ana Barbosa was described as Hispanic, 5 feet 3 inches tall, 140 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a tan sweater, black leggings and black Nike shoes, according to KCSO. It did not say where Barbosa was last seen.

Details are emerging in the case of a missing Bakersfield woman, as authorities are asking for the public's help in identifying a vehicle.

Ana Barbosa, 53, was last seen by family members on May 6. The following day, a late '90s white GMC pickup truck pulling a rusted trailer was captured on surveillance footage in the Lamont and Arvin areas of Kern County. The county sheriff's office is describing the truck as a "vehicle of interest."

Warrants filed by sheriff's investigators relating to the case and seen by KGET-TV allege that Barbosa saved money for two years to leave her husband and that money is now missing. The outlet also reported that she may have previously been the victim of domestic violence, and that blood was found by detectives in the hallway of the couple's home in southwest Bakersfield. An auto body shop run by the couple on Norris Road in Bakersfield was reportedly searched by detectives in May.

The Kern County Sheriff's Office told SFGATE on Thursday that they cannot share any further details on the case at this time. "It is an active and ongoing investigation," spokesperson Lori Meza said.

EXCLUSIVE: Family's desperate search for missing mom after two weeks of silence
Almost two weeks have passed since 53-year-old Ana Barbosa was last seen in Oildale.

With every passing day, they are more desperate to find her.

"She has a support system, she knows she can come to us. She knew she had a family to go to so that's what makes this situation scarier because it's been two weeks and there's no sign," said Ana Maria Leal, daughter of Barbosa.


The last time she spoke to her, Barbosa told her something unsettling.

"Last I heard she asked me for help, but she didn't specify what type of help she needed. I don't know if it was to be there for her, financially or...," said Laurel.

Laurel said no matter where her sister went she always kept someone in the loop of her whereabouts.

Her daughter told us although she spoke with her the day before she went missing, her mom's husband was with her the day she went missing.

"He was the last person with her and says they were arguing at his car shop and she took off through the back door," said Leal.

The car shop Leal is referencing is called Corner Shop Automotive Services, which is about seven minutes away from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.

As days pass with no sign of her mom, she pleads for the community to keep an eye out for her.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A reward of up to $5,000 is now being offered for information that can help locate a Bakersfield woman who last seen or heard from in May.

Kern Secret Witness said it is offering the reward for any information on the whereabouts of Ana Barbosa.

Barbosa, 53, was last seen on May 6 in the Oildale area at around 2:15 p.m. She was reported missing to authorities on May 8 by family and is considered a “critical missing person.”

Barbosa was last seen wearing a tan sweater, black leggings and black Nike shoes.

The sheriff’s office released an image of a GMC pickup truck and surveillance video of it that may be connected to Barbosa’s disappearance. According to warrants obtained by 17 News, family members said Barbosa was previously the victim of domestic violence.

Never noticed this one before. Maybe I didn't go in as trying to not do new cases but not sure, don't even recall seeing the name.

First, that vehicle and trailer is hardly going to be hard for anyone to recognize so if it hasn't been found my guess would be it is hidden or garaged or out of the area, etc.

Next if she asked for help why didn't the person follow up and ask what kind of help and determine how she could help or if she could help her?

Next, family or someone knew she was saving money to leave him and that she was a DV victim and I'd ask why they didn't help her get away from him if she wanted to get away?

While one would suspect the hub, her stash of money is gone and one would think he would have no idea she had a stash of money... I guess he could have seen her adding to it or have found it but questionable imo. She also could have stupidly in an argument told him she was leaving and that she had been saving money to do so but also questionable.

She could have taken it and left him and covered her tracks but that also seems doubtful just because of the truck and the blood...

It would seem he likely killed her and she never left the auto shop, etc. However, not really enough here to know that. How did anyone know they were arguing that last day?

It seems someone knows a lot yet no one helped her to get away before? Why? Was she been on staying until she had a certain amount of cash or something? Like enough for an apartment, a home, to live on or what?

So in summary someone knows she is saving money to get away, where it is, that she is the victim of DV, one knows she asked for help recently but not what kind of help, and that they were arguing the last time she was seen... Oh and someone, she or someone else took the money...

So a whole lot is known by someone/s yet she remains missing. Do I have it right? Oh and no one helped her to leave this abusive man apparently even though they knew of the abuse.
