Amber Alert issued by Davis County sheriff for missing 2-week-old child

An Amber Alert was issued Wednesday for an infant who was allegedly abducted in December by his mother.

Davis County sheriff’s deputies are looking for a 2-week-old boy whom they are calling “Baby Torres.” They are also looking for Maria Ann Torres, 36, the boy’s mother.

She is described as a white female, about 5 feet, 3 inches tall, weighing 130 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair. She has several tattoos on her arms, neck, wrist and ankle, according to authorities.

Police are also looking for a Red 2004 Volvo S-80 with Utah license plate F55-1PE that she could be driving.

Torres was born in a Salt Lake hospital on Dec. 20 and was taken by his mother from the hospital two days later, according to the sheriff's office.

But it wasn’t until a petition for custody was filed in 2nd District Court on Tuesday that raised allegations that Torres could be in danger that prompted officials to issue an Amber Alert on Wednesday.

Usually they say found live or located and safe. None of these words were used and in fact it does not even say they have him, just that the Alert was canceled. Just hope he is safe and they have him.

He's safe. More info here.

There sure has been a lot of this in the past year... A parent taking children either from the other parent or I guess from CPS having an order that they can't have their own children or something...

Happy the child is safe.
