Circumstances of Discovery
A truck driver pausing at an Interstate 80 turnout, known as Bitter Creek, spotted the victim's nude body lying face down in the snow. The body appeared as if it had been dropped out of a truck and came to rest at the bottom of a slope.

Investigators theorize the victim was probably killed elsewhere and dumped near the westbound side of the highway between October 1991 and February 1992.

The cause of death was listed as an ice pick or similar object inserted in the victim's left nostril, penetrating her sphenoid bone. Examiners also found signs of strangulation, beating trauma to the face and jaw, as well as anal and vaginal sexual assault.

The sophistication of the killing points to the possible involvement of a serial offender, despite that this theory was initially rejected. Detectives have determined the killer's blood is type O.

A man in Tucson, Arizona informed police he had given this woman her tattoo and recalled additional details about the woman through hypnosis. She was apparently a transient hitchhiker and spoke without an accent. On the day she recieved her tattoo, she wore a brown peasant dress with yellow flowers.

The victim, known as "Bitter Creek Betty" is buried in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.

She was initially speculated to be of Native American descent, yet analysis of her DNA showed she was of European and South American descent.

DNA evidence obtained from the victim matches DNA evidence from 390UFWY.

Thread opened due to the new developments in Bitter Creek Betty and Sheridan Jane Doe's cases!

A DNA hit from three cold cases from the early 90s has led to an arrest of an alleged serial killer in Waterloo, Iowa.
Sweetwater County Attorney Dan Erramouspe confirmed today that Clark Perry Baldwin, a long haul truck driver, was arrested at his home late this morning

Baldwin has been charged in Wyoming with first-degree murder of a woman known in reports as “Bitter Creek Betty” here in Sweetwater County, and “I-90 Jane Doe” in Sheridan County. Additionally, Baldwin is being charged in Tennessee with two counts of first-degree murder in the 1991 death of Pamela McCall and her unborn fetus.

Another long-haul truck driver! I was just thinking about this the other day in the case of the Happy Face Killer:

How many of these killer truck drivers are out there?

Enough for the FBI to launch the Highway Serial Killings Initiative back in the early 2000s.

From this article:

As an FBI press release put it in 2016, “If there is such a thing as an ideal profession for a serial killer, it may well be as a long-haul truck driver.” Truckers appeared on the bureau’s radar more than a decade ago, when an investigation revealed that women were being murdered along the I-40 corridor. Since then, the FBI’s Highway Serial Killings Initiative has investigated the murders of more than 750 victims found near highways, and identified nearly 450 potential suspects, a disproportionate number of them truck drivers. “The victims in these cases are primarily women who are living high-risk, transient lifestyles,” the FBI has said. “They’re frequently picked up at truck stops or service stations.”

Carl K. apparently posted back in December that "Betty" has been identified, but her identity has not been announced.
However, she’s still listed as unidentified with Doe Network, NamUs, and FBI…
Just making a note, because some are saying she's been identified.

In websleuths forum this case is resolved

still listed in NAMUS

If Carl K said she's been identified, it's probably true. We're waiting on the official public report.

Her NamUs and FBI profiles have been removed. Her Doe Network page is still up.
Still could not find any info about her identity being released or an official announcement that she has been identified.
