Amber Alert issued for 1-year-old taken from Albuquerque home​

An Amber Alert has been issued Wednesday evening for one-year-old Christopher Chavez, last seen at his home near San Pedro Dr. and Osuna Rd. The Albuquerque Police Department says Christopher was abducted from 4515 Sherwood Street NE sometime between 10:30 p.m. on November 2, 2021, and 8:30 a.m. on November 3, 2021, by his non-custodial-mother 17-year-old Lia E. Chavez.

Police say Lia is developmentally delayed. KRQE News 13 has reported on Lia before in 2019 when she ran away from the same home and wasn’t found until a year later. At the time, police believe she had been sexually exploited.


The Albuquerque Police Department is asking the public for assistance in locating Christopher Chavez, a one-year-old Hispanic male, twenty-three inches tall, weighing approximately twenty-two pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Christopher was abducted from 4515 Sherwood Street NE, in Albuquerque sometime between 10:30 p.m. on November 2, 2021, and 8:30 a.m. on November 3, 2021, by his non-custodial-mother Lia E. Chavez, a seventeen-year-old Hispanic female. She is five feet tall, one hundred thirty pounds with brown eyes and brown hair. Their clothing descriptions, method of travel, and destination are not known. Many details are still unknown and under investigation by the Albuquerque Police Department. However, of urgent concern is the whereabouts of Christopher Chavez.
