DAYTON — A large search was launched Sunday in the hopes of finding a missing woman last seen in Trotwood.

According to Dayton Police Department, Cierra Chapman was last seen in the early morning hours on Tuesday, Dec. 27 leaving her ex-boyfriend’s apartment in Trotwood.

Chapman was driving her silver Cadillac, SRX 2014, Ohio plate JVQ8612, when she left the apartment.

Her vehicle was recovered on Jewell Avenue in Middletown Friday with no sign of Chapman, according to Maj. Brian Johns, commander of Dayton’s investigations division.

Johns said crews are currently processing the vehicle for evidence.

Her disappearance has been deemed “suspicious.”

“I have no doubt that people here in Dayton, Ohio know what happened. This was an orchestrated event...this was a very well planned out incident so people know,” Johns said.

Johns said they have reviewed video that confirms Chapman's vehicle left the ex-boyfriend's apartment about 4:30 a.m. the morning of her disappearance.

Her vehicle was recovered Jan. 6 on a residential street in Middletown. Johns said Chapman had no reason to be in Middletown. She has no friends or relatives there.

Johns said Chapman's ex-boyfriend has given them a statement over the phone but not yet in-person.

It appears that this is a recovery, imo.

This statement from LE packs a powerful punch.

“I have no doubt that people here in Dayton, Ohio know what happened. This was an orchestrated event...this was a very well planned out incident so people know,” Johns said.

On Jan. 6, the SUV registered to a missing Trotwood woman was found in an area off Jewell Avenue in Middletown. Over the weekend, investigators and private search teams canvassed the neighborhood looking for leads. They found none.

Cierra J. Chapman, 30, was last seen during the early morning hours of Dec. 27 when she met her ex-boyfriend at an apartment on Autumn Woods Drive in Trotwood, Dayton police Maj. Brian Johns said. Her SUV was seen on video leaving the area around 4:30 a.m.

Ten days later, Chapman’s silver 2014 Cadillac SRX was found abandoned, parked on a gravel area of Jewell and Shelley Street. Middletown records show the vehicle was found about 10:15 a.m. on Jan. 6 by a patrol officer. There was minor damage to the vehicle, but Johns said they do not believe it is related to Chapman’s disappearance.

Chapman’s personal belongs were found in the trunk, and her purse with cell phone were in the SUV.
“We didn’t get anything from her car that would indicate foul play,” Johns said. But he added the rest of the circumstances are troubling.

“We are very concerned for her safety,” he said.

I thought she was last seen in GA by someone other than her husband. Maybe this is just due diligence?

Hey KDG411. I don't recall reading anything regarding Cierra being seen in Georgia.??

Of course, I'm probably missing something.

‘She didn’t go missing by accident;’ More than 60 volunteers search for missing Dayton mother

Around 70 volunteers searched areas of southwest Dayton Saturday in the hopes of finding any leads that could bring Cierra Chapman home.

Volunteers included members of the Dock Ellis foundation, Dayton police officers, Equusearch, the Ohio Special Response Team and even the FBI, according to Dayton police Maj. Brian Johns

Police have said many times that they do not believe Chapman went missing by accident and consider her disappearance a “well-planned event.”

“People in the community, from our investigation, know what happened to Cierra ... she didn’t go missing by accident. This was a planned event. So we need people to come forward and do the right thing and tell us what happened,” Johns said.

'He wants his mom' Dayton Police continues to search for Cierra Chapman
The family is currently caring for Chapman’s son. “He wants his mom, he's used to having her there every day,” Gillard said. “He's used to being able to pick up a phone, and call her or see her or text message her. To have that just snatched away from you in a twinkling of an eye. It is devastating.”

The family continues asking the help from the public.

“Call the Dock Ellis hotline, call the Dayton police Department, just let us know anything,” said Gillard. “We want to bring this, this baby's mom home, and give him some type of peace.”

Chapman is truly missed by her family.

Authorities encourage you to say something if you see something. If you have any information, you're asked to call Dayton Police at 937-333-2677 (333-COPS) or Miami Valley Crime Stoppers at 937-222-7867 (222-STOP). You can also submit a tip through their website.

DAYTON — A $20,000 cash reward is now being offered for information leading to the whereabouts of Cierra Chapman, who has been missing since the end of December.

According to a spokesperson for Dayton police, the FBI and Miami Valley Crime Stoppers are both offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of Chapman and information that leads to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the person(s) responsible for her disappearance.

It's really sickening that a reward has to be posted to try to get information. I could not in good conscience accept it if it was put up by the family. By an organization. Yes. But I would go to LE immediately before a reward was even posted.

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — It has been nearly four months since missing Dayton woman, Cierra Chapman, disappeared, and investigators are still searching for answers.

Cierra Chapman was last seen leaving her ex-boyfriend’s apartment in Trotwood on December 27, 2022. Her silver Cadillac SUV was later found in Middletown. Major Brian Johns with the Dayton Police Department said they have been working on this case daily ever since.

“I’ve been here for 30 years. I’ve never seen as much done on one case, regarding investigative, follow up and reports, and other type of investigative things that we do on one case, but it’s that important to us,” Maj. Johns explained.

Dayton Police believe her disappearance is suspicious. They held several major searches involving volunteers from EquuSearch, the Ohio Search and Rescue Team, and other law enforcement agencies, but nothing turned up.

“We have received some tips, but nothing yet to help us to bring about closure to the case,” Maj. Johns said.

'Not knowing is rough,' Family of missing Dayton woman trying to keep hope alive
Thursday, July 27, marks six months since Cierra Chapman disappeared.

“Not knowing is rough,” said her Aunt Sandra Roundtree.

Dayton 24/7 Now’s Mamie Bah asked, “Six months later, how do you keep hope alive?”

“Trying to keep that alive is hard for us, not knowing what is going on, what’s happened to her,” answered Roundtree.

Her aunt thought by now they would know something, "It’s been really hard for the family without no closure, especially her son. They were very close.”

Bah asked “Where does the investigation stand? Any leads? “

“We do have leads as you know about three weeks ago there was a body found in the river in Miamisburg, Ohio. We do not believe that was Cierra,” said Maj. Brian Johns with Dayton Police.

“Has her ex-boyfriend been cooperative?” Bah asked.

“We did ask him to come in for an interview and he failed to come in for an interview,” said Maj. Johns.

There have been multiple searches including with Texas EquuSearch, the Dayton Police Department, and the Dock Ellis Foundation, which has been supporting the family.

“It’s very emotional up and down like a roller coaster, anytime they find remains or a body, the family is hoping to find her but don’t want to find her that way, waiting or not knowing is the hardest part,” said Michelle McCown-Luster with the Dock Ellis Foundation.
