Has it been mentioned why they were up with him in the middle of the night? Was he upset and having a hard time sleeping?
Kids being last seen or disappearing in the middle of the night always gets my attention. Especially when they're not reported until LATE the next morning. 4-year-olds don't typically sleep until 9am.
Yes, there are legitimate reasons for kids to be up that late and seen that late. But why was he wearing his flip-flops at 2am?

It's the shoes on a 2am that gets me, too. Not that a child was up at that time, but WITH shoes on.

I was thinking the same thing and it seems that most of the time (most not all) this set of facts--last seen early a.m., late night, etc. with a young one and then reported missing the next day never seem to be a child having wandered off... Most, not all, but most his age are not going to wander out into the dark alone...

The statement refusing to comment on family dynamics is odd BUT it could be just media making it sound like more than it is. Probably just no comment on any details...

Where is Codi Bigsby? FBI joins search for missing 4-year-old, Virginia police say

The search for Codi continued Monday afternoon as Hampton police, along with help from FBI officials, scoured the area near the Buckroe Point town homes and apartments, news outlets reported. Police said the family is cooperating with their investigation.

So this child allegedly has only been missing since today? Early this morning per what it sounds like... We are approaching evening here at least and they didn't like find him right away. Meaning I guess that if he hadn't went far or they had a trail or family had him, etc. they might have quickly located him.

So my thoughts are turning to have they found any sign of him... A neighbor who saw something, a scent, ring doorbells, security cams...

I agree with others in that why did he have shoes on at 2 a.m. I guess they could just realize they are missing and if he got up and left he may have put them on...

Very important info in this tweet. FBI involved this early also very important in telling where this investigation is going.
Also saying no danger to the public. And no reason to believe he's with family. And no idea if he has a history of wandering but want the PUBLIC to say if they know (not family).

hmmmmm. I think we pretty much assumed correctly on this one, for the most part.

I saw this and wondered how much to make of it. I mean this early they would have to leave that open and look in both directions I told myself... Not clear anyone until sure but also search and more... They haven't issued an Amber Alert nor any suspect, car, other info...There seem to tweets regarding family or what they can't share that make one wonder but then that could be just reporting making it seem a bit questionable as to family but LE is perhaps just simply not sharing anything at all, good or bad...

The tweet that also said the mother answered their questions but then said LE wouldn't say she was cooperating I don't really know how to take either...

I'm pretty sure everyone can about guess where my thoughts go but then I truly don't have any reason to think that yet... But already there are some little tiny odd things...

Does anyone have any idea if the child has any conditions of any kind? Asking others if he wandered or was known to does seem significant... Meaning I guess they want to hear someone else's take on it other than family but that's also natural... I wouldn't say they usually publicize that though, they would simply quietly ask neighbors... But it goes along with last sighting... Who besides the parent saw him last and when...

On the plus side though for the family, it did say there were other children present in the home who are fine apparently...

I think it's pretty obvious, unfortunately. LE isn't going to say "we don't think the timeline is accurate", basically calling the father a liar, unless they have a very good reason for doing so. They're probably asking the community if he's wandered because they know the dad is a liar and can't trust his word on anything. If he says, "Oh yeah he's totally wandered off before in the middle of the night..." it's probably to cover his actions.

LE isn't sharing? They've shared more in this case than in any other in recent memory. Without using the words directly, they've called dad a liar about the timeline and brought in the FBI within hours. "Won't comment" on any signs of foul play. Now they're searching the dumpsters tonight.

When asked if there were any signs of foul play, the chief said he did not want to comment on that.
