Lafayette woman missing after reportedly driving customer to Texas

The family of 33-year-old Ella Goodie said they last saw her Wednesday, March 9. They said she’s a contract driver, and she was picking up a passenger that she was supposed to drop off in Houston.

The Scott Police Department (SPD) said her vehicle was seen on March 9 on I-10 heading toward Texas. SPD said that about 12 hours later, traffic cameras saw her vehicle coming back into Louisiana.

The next day, however, her vehicle was located back in Texas, North of Dallas.

Scott Police said they were not able to track her car since then, and her family has not heard from her.

Police identify person of interest in Louisiana ride share driver's disappearance

A woman who was headed from Louisiana to Houston one week ago is missing and now police are asking for the public's help locating a person of interest.

Family and friends said they have not been able to get in touch with Ella Goodie, 32, who works as a ride share driver in Scott, Louisiana, since March 9, KATC-News first reported.

Scott police said Brandon Jermaine Francisco is believed to be the last person she was in contact with, though it is unclear if he was with Goodie on the drive to Texas.

Scott Police Chief Chad Leger said the woman was reported missing on March 11.

During the course of their investigation, police were able to spot Goodie's vehicle on a traffic camera headed back into Louisiana 12 hours after leaving for Texas. Then, on March 10, her vehicle was picked up on a license plate reader north of Dallas. Police provided the below picture of Goodie's black Audi with Texas plate NRN6551. It is unclear if she has ties to the area where her SUV was spotted.

Francisco has an active warrant for his arrest for failing to appear in court in Rapides Parish, Louisiana on the same date Goodie was last seen.

Police told ABC13 they are not speculating if foul play had a role in Goodie's disappearance.

We reached out to Lyft and according to the company, the ride to Houston was not on their platform, though representatives have been in contact with law enforcement to offer their assistance.

Brandon Francisco, of interest in missing Lafayette Lyft driver case, accused in 2018 shooting

Brandon Jermaine Francisco was scheduled to appear in an Alexandria courtroom in connection to a violent 2018 crime on the same day he was seen with a missing Lafayette Lyft driver.

The Scott Police Department on Wednesday named Francisco, 36, of Mansura, a person of interest in the March 9 disappearance of 32-year-old Ella Quiana Goodie.

There is an active warrant for Francisco's arrest after he failed to appear in a Rapides Parish courtroom on March 9, the same day police say he was last seen with Goodie.

The hearing concerned Francisco's alleged role in a Christmas Eve shooting in 2018 that critically wounded a man in the Rapides Parish town of Cheneyville. Francisco and another Mansura man, Travelle Markez Louis, are accused of shooting a man on the side of U.S. 71 and stealing his vehicle.

The victim was later found, wounded, in a nearby ditch, the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office said at the time.

Francisco faces charges of attempted second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit second-degree murder, obstruction of justice and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in connection to the case. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Francisco was missing in the courtroom at least once prior to his missed March 9 hearing, according to court records.

"Black women have been going missing in America at an alarming disproportionate rate, and Ella’s disappearance needs to be highlighted locally and nationally to bring her home safe," a release states.

The family and The Village 337 are asking the public to help in this search. It is scheduled for Monday, March 21, 2022 but a time and starting location has not yet been announced.

They still haven't located her car, is that right?
I don't think they have as it says this:

"The next day, however, her vehicle was located back in Texas, North of Dallas.

Scott Police said they were not able to track her car since then, and her family has not heard from her."

I think they meant the license plate reader picked it up and then they lost it again. Or something on that order.

Oh! No wonder I’m confused. I’m still confused. Lol

I see why because that is exactly what it said and in that order and the last thing said was they haven't able to track it since. So I don't know but if the news has it right as to order, then they located it (I think maybe with the license plate reader or something) and then haven't been able to find it or pick it up since...?

That's another thing, extradition. Someone commits a crime and flees the state, send him back. Just more hold ups when a defendant dose this if you ask me. I'm sure there is some valid reason for it but...

Glad they denied him bond.

Person of interest in disappearance of Louisiana woman extradited from Missouri, booked on unrelated warrant

A man who is a person of interest in the disappearance of a Louisiana woman, who went missing after reportedly driving a Lyft to Texas, has been extradited back to Louisiana after being arrested in Missouri last month.

Brandon Jermaine Francisco, 36, was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center on April 6, according to jail records from the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office.

He was booked on two counts of contempt of court, and is being held without bond at the request of The Rapides Parish District Attorney’s Office.

ELLA GOODIE CASE: Rapides DA wants to revoke Brandon Francisco’s bond in light of connection to Scott missing persons case

The Rapides Parish District Attorney’s Office has filed a motion to revoke Brandon Francisco’s bond and a motion to order a status conference in a Dec. 24, 2018 case that’s awaiting trial. Francisco is also a person of interest in the disappearance of Ella Goodie, a contract driver from Scott. Goodie was reported as last being seen with Francisco on March 9 - the day he was supposed to be in court in Rapides Parish.

In addition to being a “significant flight risk,” the district attorney’s office also calls Francisco “an habitual offender.” In the motion, the office lists other offenses:

1. On Sept. 23, 2003, Francisco was convicted for the offense of illegal possession of a stolen firearm in Avoyelles Parish.

2. On May 14, 2008, Francisco was convicted for the offense of carnal knowledge and attempted second-degree murder in Avoyelles Parish.

The motion also states that when Francisco was apprehended in Missouri, “he was also arrested by the Buchanan County Drug Strike Force, St. Joseph, Missouri, for the offense of unlawful possession of a firearm.” To date, Goodie has not been found.

Based on the reasons listed in the motion, the district attorney’s office wants all outstanding bonds revoked and Francisco should be remanded without bond pending trial. The district attorney’s office is also requesting a status hearing to set a new trial date. A hearing date has not been set.

Billboard goes up to aid in search for Ella Goodie

As the search for Ella Goodie continues, more and more members of the community are coming together to help find her.

The goal of Lafayette NAACP President Marja Lynn Broussard and thousands of others is simple: Find Ella Goodie and bring her home.

"The goal is to get Ella's picture out, as a missing person since March 9th, to every city and state in these united states," said Broussard. "Because she could be anywhere."

Goodie's brother, Arthur said he wants everyone to know that the search is still on.

"Let everybody know that we're still searching," he said. "We want everyone to continue to search, and we're not gonna stop til we bring Ella home."

To aid in the search, a billboard donated by Bass Limited has gone up along I-10 West and the Evangeline Thruway in Lafayette. It might seem simple, but law enforcement said it may pay off in a big way.
