Hopefully he is doing the other thing they seem to do and that's hide and hole up and he will be found safe. It is worrisome though.

Praying.

Awful news. Just couldn't have had a good outcome for once. It sure seems sometimes that that's how it is anyhow in most of them.

BITES.

I don't know what the answer is but we have seen sooooo many of these. Not all were accidents of course but I do believe many are.

Heartbreaking.

Seems trite but RIP child. How many times can a person say that and not realize it is way too often...

Are parents of autistic children made aware of specific dangers they face as a result of their condition?

It seems to me that eloping and water are 2 very specific challenges. Could be just me, though.

I'm amazed each and every time how many live near water and I don't mean blocks away, I mean apartments with water behind it, and more.

Sure no expert on it but we have seen countless occasions where they end up in water but we've also seen a few that were foul play, a few stand out to me.

Even we know they like water, like to hide or hole up, and more so you'd sure the the parents would.

I'm sure parents have a full time job taking care of them and they do have to sleep some time, etc. but I'd think you'd have as many safeguards as you could.

Didn't look much into this one so no real opinion on it. It sure does keep happening though. A lot. During Covid we son TONS of them and I think there was a reason for some of them. I recall a few as I said. Certainly not all, but some...

I guess if they are intent on "eloping" you can hardly stay too vigilant.

Just sad is all I know.

It's impossible to not take your eyes off of them for a moment all day long. It only takes that moment for them to slip away. Plus, we have many cases where everybody thought everybody else was watching them and that made it to where nobody was actually watching them.

I know I wasn't aware of it with mine. He got away from me once when he was about 3 years old and headed STRAIGHT for a pond as fast as his little legs could take him! Thankfully, I caught him just as he got to the water.

Most times that's how you figure out that they are bolters, too.
