The Federal Bureau of Investigation is now involved in the ongoing search for a missing/endangered 11-year-old Colorado Springs boy who went missing Monday afternoon, and the task force investigating his disappearance is organizing a team of volunteers to start searching for him.

Gannon Stauch was believed to be a runaway after he left his home southeast of Colorado Springs between 3:15 and 4 p.m. on Monday. But as the week progressed, his disappearance was upgraded to a missing/endangered person case.

His stepmother said he left his home on foot to play at a friend’s house down the street on Monday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies and major crimes detectives had taken “extraordinary steps” to locate the boy, the sheriff’s office said. They were actively searching for evidence and taking witness statements, a sheriff’s office news release issued earlier this week read.

“He’s very young, it’s dark and cold outside and we want to bring Gannon to safety,” the sheriff’s said in a Facebook post earlier this week.

On Thursday afternoon, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and other task force members, as well as Stauch’s parents, hosted a news conference to update the community on his disappearance, discuss the steps being taken in the investigation, and to notify people in the area that they are organizing volunteers to begin a community search effort in coming days.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Mitch Mahalko said the sheriff’s office received the investigation on Tuesday afternoon and started doing interviews and collecting video surveillance and talking to neighbors, working to collect new leads.

He said that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and FBI got involved after the case was upgraded to a missing/endangered child case. The FBI’s team specializes in search and rescue and “will be a good partner” in the investigation, Mahalko said.

He said the investigation was active and that authorities were conducting interviews with witnesses and collecting evidence – exhausting every lead they receive.

Mahalko said investigators were looking at “persons of interest” in the case as people who might be able to give them additional information on Stauch’s whereabouts.

He declined to say where authorities had been searching but confirmed that investigators had been in contact with some trash companies in El Paso County and in the Lorson Ranch area.

Kirby stressed that people with tips should report them to their tip line – 719-520-6666 – and not on social media because any tips sent to the sheriff’s office on social media will not be considered.

She’s a rabid animal.

You have got to be kidding me! This woman is crazier than a fruit cake.

Wow. Really? How does that even happen? This woman is going to be a handful but I hope it just results in more charges. I hope they have video, they obviously have others in the van as witnesses and injuries to boot. It is probably a good thing they did not put her on an airplane, smh.

It must be setting in that she is not getting out. Good.

I'd like to know how in the world she thought she was going to get away with anything? Doesn't she know that she's all over the news? People would be hunting her down like an animal.

I know, I can't decide if it's stupidity, desperation, more like egomania or wanting more attention on herself because Lori Vallow took some of it too from her the past few days lol.

In all seriousness though, I feel if she can do that and injure a cop and does not think twice about it, it makes me hurt worse for what a little boy probably feared with her.
Some have said they think it was a suicide by cop attempt. I don't know about that but it could be I guess.

Finally maybe she wants to appear tough before she ends up in a new jail where inmates probably know the case in her own area even better and will hate her...

Smh. Everything is hitting her in the face and she can't handle it. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time evil stepmonster. (My opinion)...

Like did she think that this was actually going to help her case???

Her attack surprised me very much, my guess was that she will be going on playing the victim. Maybe she thought she could spin it that way? Or maybe the pressure is finally getting to her and this is simply her true face.

I agree. When one thinks that in one of her first interview with LE she claims she wanted an attorney, she didn't get one, they violated her constitutional rights and blocked the doorway and she couldn't leave, she will probably try to say in this case, they abused her as well. Victim, victim, victim. Well, woman, Gannon is the victim and the abused one and, apparently, deceased. NO ONE feels sorry for you and it ain't gonna fly! Imo.

Gannon Stauch’s father files for divorce after stepmother arrested for murder

Albert Stauch said his marriage is "irretrievably broken" in the documents.

The filing also shows Albert ordered the family dog, a three to four-month-old Blue French Bulldog named Sadie, be returned to him immediately.

The dad also said he won't be giving Letecia spousal support

He gets alot of heat on social media for not knowing that there were problems. But I don't think this is fair, because : first, due to his job he was absent from the home many times. Second, I am sure that Letecia made up some stories why SHE was not responsible for any problems. Those habitual liars can be very convincing :(

Gannon’s dad seems like such a responsible person. How did she manage to hide her evil side this long? Oh, I know. they are Masters of Fake, but still. He must be beating himself up for trusting her with his kids. I feel so bad for him. Glad the divorce had officially begin, and I hope it can go fast for him. He was very thoughtful about the dog;s care, too. I hope he can give her a proper home.

I can‘t seem to keep up and am not sure if this was posted already. She was ‘fired’ from her last “teachung” job just 3 days before Gannon went missing (and had only worked a couple days).

“Academy District 20 rescinded her employment offer after finding inconsistencies in her employment application,” district spokeswoman Allison Cortez said.
