Girl last seen in Manchester in October 2019; police seek tips from public

Manchester police are seeking tips from the public about the disappearance of a girl not seen in more than two years.

Harmony Montgomery, 7, was last seen in a home in Manchester in October 2019, when she was 5, police said.

Police said they first learned Harmony went missing earlier this week. Chief Allen Aldenberg did not specify who reported the girl missing but said his department has been in touch with multiple family members and will continue to speak with them.

Aldenberg said police are not searching for any adult or vehicle in connection with the case. Investigators are focusing on the whereabouts of Harmony.

"No time is a good time for a child to go missing," Aldenberg said. "I'm begging the community. I don't care if you saw this young girl a year ago and you think it's irrelevant. Call us."

Aldenberg said at a news conference Friday his detectives are working to confirm where Harmony is from and where she went to school before her disappearance.

Harmony is estimated to be approximately 4 feet tall and 50 pounds. Investigators said she has blonde hair, blue eyes and should be wearing glasses.

"We need help," Aldenberg said. "This remains a very active investigation."

And I pray they do and I believe they will. This is another one imo they are trying to shove under the rug. IF efforts are kept up and people don't go silent months or a year from now will come out a report of what the place can do to improve, etc. and not another thing will happen to them or they will let go some lower level employee but no one from top tier. DCF I mean of course. LE seems to have done a stellar job.

This family WANTED her with her brother. So disgusting.

I believe she went through he77.

Kayla imo has been helping and enough to corroborate evidence and maybe pointed them where to look for evidence.

MAYBE she will be found as this is the only card DADDY DEAREST has to play now. I wish it was first degree charges but there are enough other charges that hopefully he never sees the light of day.
If ever there was a case for a person to get the "3 strikes" rule, he is one. Pretty sure this will be more than 3 felonies for him. I just don't think it applies where he lives though.

Heck nothing means what it says any longer anyhow. Life isn't life and three strikes aren't three strikes...

Sounds like her speaking to detectives might be the reason for the interest in the refrigerator.

That dear child. Makes me sick! This is why I can't get too deep into the missing kid cases. The cruelty is beyond the pale!

MANCHESTER, N.H. —
Plea deal discussions are underway between state prosecutors and the defense attorney for the stepmother of a New Hampshire girl who investigators believe was killed by her father.

Kayla Montgomery was not present for Wednesday afternoon's hearing, which was originally scheduled as a dispositional conference and lasted just a few minutes.

In court, prosecutor Jesse O'Neill and defense attorney Paul Garrity jointly asked the judge for more time to come to an agreement.

O'Neill added that the deal could "have potential bearing" on the upcoming stolen weapons trial involving Adam Montgomery, but that it shouldn't change that trial's schedule.

A status hearing was set for next Friday afternoon, but if both sides can agree on a plea deal, it could become a plea-and-sentencing hearing.

MANCHESTER, N.H. -- One day after investigators announced that Harmony Montgomery's father, Adam Montgomery, is charged with her second-degree murder, Harmony's uncle said there needs to be more attention paid to the child welfare system that did not protect her.

"It just disgusts you that a judge could make that choice to send the baby to a father who just has a record. And not just -- a violent record. It wasn't that he was picked up for shoplifting. He shot a guy in the face," Timothy Flanagan said in a phone interview with WBZ-TV.

Seeing red too and at the same time need to try to wall off all of these awful details. This poor child. Bashing her around and actually telling his brother as much. And more. And we likely don't know the half of what this child endured and I don't want to think about it.

I will give Kayla credit. I'm sure her main reason is to save herself but she likely also has/had some fear of him but is doing the right thing at least. However, SAVING Harmony and saying something would have been the thing to do. Not milking the welfare system.

I agree. We've seen a few of these or where they send a child to a father that never cared, bonded or was involved with the child in the first place. And with a serious record and offense like in this case, WHY would they do that? I think they likely always look to each parent first but he never should have passed or been an option!

And what was he worth staying for after you KNOW he killed his own daughter? Well, looking at her booking photos partially explains it.

Yeah I think both lost causes or doing nothing positive in life. Probably the drugs. And she either stayed with him for having nowhere else, because they shared habits and problems etc. and neither was a winner. But staying after a death/murder? That's a low level to accept that.

Sadly I can't recall, but she has kids too right? Where are they in all this? Because Harmony's abuse, neglect and death does not need to be repeated!

Loved ones of Harmony Montgomery came together in Manchester Sunday afternoon to remember the 5-year-old.

Earlier this month, Harmony's father Adam Montgomery was charged with second-degree murder in her killing.

Harmony's mother Crystal Sorey describes her daughter as sweet, funny and talkative. Sorey dressed up as Minnie Mouse, something she said would have made her daughter happy.

Sorey said she wants to close the door on this chapter.

“All the good memories are in Haverhill and Boston,” Sorey said. “We just want to close this chapter on New Hampshire because nothing good here happened for her.”

Sorey said she wants to help other children, ensuring Harmony's story is not forgotten.

The aunt of Elijah Lewis was also at the vigil. The 5-year-old boy went missing and was later found dead, buried in a small Massachusetts town.

"It's no longer about who did what, it's about what should have been done, what could have prevented this from happening," said Michayla Morrison, aunt of Elijah Lewis.

Sorey is planning to do an event in December around the time prosecutors accuse Adam Montgomery of killing Harmony in 2019.

A defense attorney for the stepmother of Harmony Montgomery and state prosecutors have not yet come to a plea agreement, but talks are ongoing between both sides.

They hoped to complete the plea deal for Kayla Montgomery, but both sides requested more time and aim to set a plea-and-sentencing hearing for Nov. 18 at 1:30 p.m.

Prosecutor Jesse O'Neill blamed a technical issue for delays in negotiations. An email from O'Neill to defense attorney Paul Garrity got caught up in a spam filter, Garrity said.

The judge said more time to negotiate was OK, but she set a deadline for both sides to file proper paperwork by Nov. 16. If no deal is reached at that point, another status hearing can be scheduled or something must be filed to cancel the hearing, the judge said.

MANCHESTER, N.H. —
The stepmother of Harmony Montgomery, a missing Manchester girl who is presumed dead, has reached a deal to plead guilty to unrelated charges.

The court documents show that Kayla Montgomery has reached a fully negotiated plea deal that will mean she serves time in prison. She has also agreed to fully cooperate in future state proceedings, which would potentially include testifying in the second-degree murder trial of Harmony's father, Adam Montgomery.

I am disgusted that she lied and apparently she knew of the murder. I am even more disgusted when they lie to LE or a jury. Collecting benefits for a dead child also is nothing to be proud of and is low AND shows knowledge. I feel she also could have done something quite possibly to save Harmony AND we have no idea how she treated her either. Totally disgusted with this woman.

HOWEVER, it likely isn't an easy slam dunk case AND if she does the right thing now and he is put away, I guess it is worth it. I won't give her a ton of credit however as I seriously DOUBT she is doing so out of the good of her own heart but more likely to save her own skin. The fact they stayed hard nosed about her lesser charges I am guessing forced her into this position.

Even so if it puts the monster who killed her away then I guess I am all for it.

The stepmother of a New Hampshire girl who disappeared in 2019 at age 5 and is presumed dead was sent to prison for at least a year and a half Friday after pleading guilty to perjury charges.

Kayla Montgomery, 32, pleaded guilty to two charges alleging that she lied to a grand jury about working at a doughnut shop on Nov. 30, 2019, the day she said she last saw Harmony Montgomery. She also agreed to cooperate with prosecutors who have charged her estranged husband with second-degree murder in the child’s death.

In exchange, prosecutors dropped charges that Montgomery lied to state health officials about having the child in her care in order to collect welfare benefits and that she received stolen firearms.

She did not speak at her hearing in Hillsborough County Superior Court other than to indicate that she understood the details of the plea agreement. She was sentenced to 3½ to seven years in prison, with 1½ years of the minimum suspended and given credit for time already served.

We know how they treat people who kill children in a man’s prison, but I wonder how the women treat other women?
