San Antonio police believe a young mom and her baby who have been missing since January may be in danger.

Twenty-year-old Dlanny Chairez and her 18-month-old son, James Avi Chairez, were last seen January 4 in a store in the 7100 block of Marbach Road.

“Through the investigation, detectives now believe they might be in danger and urge anyone with information to contact the San Antonio Police Department Special Victims Unit,” said SAPD officer Alisia Pruneda.

It seems there is some dynamic here we are unaware of that involves the family. It gives me hope he was seen that recently but what worries me is the mother though not telling LE where the child is... If he is fine, why wouldn't she...
and that is why I am not confident that he is probably ok. If we hadn't been given the tape of him way after the family last saw him, I would definitely be thinking Casey Anthony at this point without it.

Judge reduces bond for mother accused of child endangerment

The mother of missing baby James Chairez, who was arrested after his disappearance, had her bond reduced by a judge on Tuesday.

D’Lanny Chairez was arrested last month and booked on a charge of abandoning or endangering a child. She was being held on a $250,000 bond.

Records show a judge reduced Chairez’s bond to $150,000. She remains in custody at the Bexar County Jail.

Chairez would be required to wear a GPS device as part of her bond condition if she posts bail.

Family And Friends Of Missing San Antonio Toddler Won’t Give Up Search

A woman charged with abandoning her child remains behind bars as the search continues for her baby.

Eighteen-month-old James Chairez was last seen in January, but his great aunt fears the worst. Mariesol Gomez says the boy’s mother called her last week and she pressed her niece for answers on James’s whereabouts to no avail.

“My niece said,’He’s not dead. I assure you, he’s not dead,'” Gomez told KTSA News.

Gomez doesn’t believe 20-year-old D’Lanny Chairez’s story about giving the boy up for adoption.

“Why not give him all the diapers that I had just bought him, all the wipees, all his clothes, his Social Security card, birth certificate–why keep all those things at the house. Those are important documents,” said Gomez. “What else am I supposed to think?”

I sure can't blame the aunt for thinking what she thinks though.

The Bexar County Grand Jury indicted D’Lanny Chairez for tampering with evidence in connection with the disappearance of Baby James Chairez.

Baby James was last seen on Jan. 4 with his mother, D’Lanny Chairez. She reported him missing in February and was arrested on March 16 on a charge of child abandonment.

'James is not with us anymore..' Family still begging for answers to missing toddler
Baby James Chairez had been missing since January.

"She [D’Lanny] could have prevented all this, we could have dealt with it and she could have already gotten whatever she has coming to her,” Mariesol Gomez said.

Baby James Chairez's family is pushing for answers after a grand jury indicted his mother on a charge of tampering with evidence.

As the days go by without any sign of the one-year-old -- the family is losing hope of finding him alive.

"James is not with us anymore,” Gomez, his great-aunt said. “I don't feel like James is with us anymore."

"Why did she decide to run from February 22/23 all the way to March 16?" Gomez asked. "That's a lot of time away. If you're not guilty of something then, why are you hiding?"

Chairez's child abandonment charge is still pending. She was supposed to visit with family Tuesday but cancelled

I'm so freaking tired of people killing babies. Pick on someone your own size.

Another one. Never ends. Poor baby, may he RIP.

I wonder why he was not found the first time, whether they just could not search that much in depth or if he was moved or something.

San Antonio Zoo, FBI called to Baby James' mother's home after human remains found
The San Antonio Zoo has been called out to help at a scene where officials found human remains earlier this week.

We were at the scene Thursday when the Zoo pulled up to help. We asked and the zoo provided the following statement.

“SAPD investigators did request expertise from San Antonio Zoo staff,” the zoo said. “This being an ongoing/open investigation we cannot comment on the matter. We defer additional questions to SAPD.”

We checked with family members, who said the family has buried pets in the backyard before. There were also FBI agents with the Evidence Response Team at the scene.

Well that is unexpected. Wow. It sounds like Daybell, maybe a pet cemetery?

Total speculation is they are determining remains and that they found this poor child buried in the same area or with animals. The zoo though is not something one would expect for a domestic cat, dog, etc... and would they necessarily be experts in bones/remains? That makes me rethink that thought. Enough said, I don't want to think or speculate further.

RIP poor baby, you did not deserve this. :(

More shades of Daybell. This is crazy.

It is. It made me think Daybell immediaetely. I think I can truly say I have never seen a zoo called in in any case. The FBI and the zoo, whoever thought they would see the two together at a scene?

The only other thing I can think of is if there would be some animal for them to catch or trap... The family mentioned buried pets though so still seems more likely it has to do with that and where they found the poor child's remains, possibly mixed?

What do you mean the AUTOPSY was DELAYED until JULY!?!? I've never heard of such a thing. Delays for DNA and toxicology, sure. But the autopsy?

Family of James Chairez awaits answers after autopsy of human remains delayed until July

The family of missing toddler James Avie Chairez is waiting for answers after investigators said an autopsy of the human remains that were found last month won’t happen until at least July 1st.

The human remains have not yet been identified by the medical examiner.

James’ great aunt, Mariesol Gomez, said the remains were found underground, near the walkway of the main entrance to the mobile home. She added that the DNA of the remains should be revealed soon, but the autopsy isn’t expected to take place until at least July 1st.

“We want the public to know that we’re fighting still for James,” Gomez said. “Right now, not knowing what happened to him and not knowing that it’s him, it already hurts.”
