Circumstances of Disappearance
At 10:45 PM on June 9, 1995 in Alma, Arkansas, six-year-old Morgan Nick was abducted from a little league ball game by an unidentified man. Witnesses observed a man watching Morgan as she was playing with other children at the park. The witnesses also saw a red Ford pickup with a white camper parked nearby that disappeared at the same time as Morgan.

The camper is possibly damaged at the right rear, and was described as 4 to 5 inches too short for the truck. The truck is described as having a short wheel base, paint dulled with age, and a possible Arkansas license plate.

The man was described as white, 6 feet tall, with a medium to solid build (approximately 180 lbs.), salt-and-pepper hair, a mustache, and a 1-inch beard. He is believed to have been 23-38 years old at the time of the abduction.

I see what you mean. Even though as you know I don't have it in me right now to totally focus and drill down here right now, it is not adding up. I suspect at minimum one news article is entirely off or age of death is and so on or some such. I can see the basics of what you are saying here though and later maybe I will look at more in depth with some focus. I've known of the case for years on end but it is of course one of those that has been so many years, being up and fresh on some of it is hard since it sits dormant for years with little news and so on.

Again others could chime in and may be more fresh on the facts like this or whether they are facts.

It's definitely a case I never have trouble remembering the basics when it comes up. I immediately know it is the child that went missing at or near the softball field. It has one of them that has always stood out and haunted. It just seemed also so opportunistic or happenstance as I said earlier.

I and my entire family used to go watch my brother's softball games and I am talking when I was in my 30s, etc. and him older yet and I'd take my children. They weren't Morgan's age. Oldest was a teen and youngest probably close. Small town. Safe rural small town America. There was a playground a ways from the fields near the hockey arena/building I mean walking distance, no roads crossed, you could see it from the bleachers. Basically on the property near one of the driveways. Not that far but not arm's reach either. My kids were never there as they were older but the players or watchers with younger kids, their kids would go down there and play and I mean you could see them easily and were probably within less than a minute's run to them if you had to. SAFE. Totally in within vision and close.

This case always has me picturing our set up. Of course hockey arena and building were not used in the summer much and had roads on each side, not busy roads, not highways and I mean anyone could park on the side of the building and in an instant have done something like this when all were watching and excited over a home run or something.

In no way do I mean things were identical but that I could just always imagine such happening when I first heard of this case and it just always struck me hard. I mean too this would have been in the 90s for me so I just kind of always had this one stick with me. I also just would have never thought of predators like this at that time and in our area. I think if I recall this field was a bit more rural but ours was on the edge of town, rural in its way as just leaving town but a playground too, etc.

it was just so awful and out of nowhere.

AGain not trying to say identical as to setups but if my kids were younger I would not have hesitated to let them play down there where I could see them easily and would have also figured anyone at the game could as well, all other parents and so on. it was on the same side, the same property basically but just across the grass and down the way a bit.

I don't recall every little detail but just know it struck home and I could just picture it. And haunted.

I know this is not about the truck, etc. but am getting my head back to other things and mind on other things.

This could have been anyone's child I guess too is part of what I am saying. And those are scary. So many are parents, etc. and awful as HE77 but most turn out to be someone close and sad as it is don't leave you with feeling necessarily all kids are in danger from them. This I just recall seemed so random. The way I recall it anyhow. And it could be anywhere USA.

There are a handful of more that strike me that way, and others too I'd say are struck that way. Another is Jacob Wetterling. A well known case by most of us.

I'll be interested in what is figured out here re age, truck etc...And I finally got the mind for a bit into something else. Transition. Only word I have for it. I really need to, and fast as work is looming.

Glad to see you on this one! I love seeing you in one as you discuss.
My kids too, every Saturday afternoon thru the winter, i would watch hub play the rugby game, while the kids would play all around the clubhouse with their friends late 70's thru the 80's. We also travelled all over the country for away games. Never had any approach my kids, that i know of, anyway.

Right? I think this is what struck so many with this one, I think all could relate and say by the grace of God, it never happened to us... I think almost anyone can relate or did the same, and the same goes on today I am sure, at a game, kids playing off somewhere nearby, in sight. And here comes this predator... It's just scary, I mean your kids are right there nearby as are many other parents, etc. are around, watching the game, turning eye back to kids playing and so on.

One more modern and nowadays that is striking or similar is Dulce. There one minute in a park with her brother and gone the next. Mom not faraway in her car with her niece I believe. Now no suspects known of yet there and no idea who, what, etc. and a young mom, but in this day and age and with all the cameras one would think or hope should be around and nothing yet some years later now, a couple anyhow, I forget, two or three?

I mean they are all awful but the rare random one is scary. Of course not known who or what yet there and could be related even to her dad was wondered but seems likely some random stranger more so.

I haven't forgotten the very basics of Morgan's dispperance as it was something anyone could relate to I think.

It should not have to be such a worrisome world but I see a lot at work where a dad will send a fairly young kid back across the store to get something for him andI sit there thinking what are you doing. I mean the kid is inside and probably fine but we have doors all over every side. Adam Walsh would be another example. I mean nothing has ever happened here like in our store or city but isn't that what all say until it does.

Just scary. Strikes fear I think in any parent, grandparent, etc. seeing such a one.
