WALTON COUNTY, Ga. - Family and friends are holding out hope a 42-year-old Covington man will be found soon. Nathan Millard went on a business trip to Baton Rouge, Louisiana last week and seemingly vanished.

Matt Still has known Millard since middle school. Still is trying to do everything he can to get the word out about his friend's disappearance.

Still says Nathan was with a client Wednesday evening.

"They went to an LSU basketball game then to a bar called Happy's in downtown Baton Rouge. His hotel from Happy's is only 500 feet away, it is one block, I've mapped it out on Google," said Still.

When Nathan did not show up for a meeting with the client the next day, they checked his hotel room, but there was no sign of Nathan.

"His stuff was still there, his bed was made, so he hadn't slept in it," said Still.

Still has been closely following all developments in this investigation. He says Nathan's phone was found four blocks from the hotel.

"His credit card was used at least twice, once I believe it was an ATM. I've heard there's video of a man using it and it isn't Nathan. The second time was at a Greyhound station. Also, his wallet clip was found with his American Express, but no ID," said Still.

A Georgia man who disappeared in Baton Rouge on Feb. 22, while in the city for a brief business trip remains missing, his family told an Atlanta TV station.

Amber Millard, the wife of Nathan Milliard, told 11Alive that her husband seems to have vanished as he was walking back to his hotel on the first night of his business trip.

She told the station that her husband's phone was later found several blocks away from the downtown hotel where he was was staying and that his debit card was used several times in the days after he was last seen.

Millard, of Covington, Georgia, was on a 24-hour turnaround visit to work with a client, flying out of Atlanta and arriving at the Baton Rouge airport on the afternoon of Feb. 22.

An employee of Advanced Construction in Conyers, Ga., Millard was visiting Baton Rouge to meet with a client and see a job site, the TV station reported.

A police spokesperson on Wednesday said there were no updates to report on the case.

<snip>
The hotel's surveillance video showed that her husband was wearing a green baseball cap, black shirt and blue jeans on the night of Feb. 22, BRPD said.

Millard is 5’9” and weighs approximately 180 lbs.

Anyone having information on Millard's whereabouts is asked to call the Baton Rouge Police Missing Persons Division at (225) 389-3853 or Capital Region Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.

BATON ROUGE - New photos shared by out-of-state volunteers show a missing man from Georgia inside a hotel in downtown Baton Rouge shortly before he disappeared.

The pictures, shared by the Texas EquuSearch, mark one of the last sightings of 42-year-old Nathan Millard, who disappeared on Feb. 22. The non-profit organization has gained notoriety in years past for its involvement in high-profile missing person cases.

<snip>
“Wednesday night, he and I Facetimed. He was able to get college basketball tickets. He and I Facetimed, while he was there and that was at 7:30 Georgia time,” Millard's wife, Amber, told WSB TV in Atlanta.

Millard was later seen going to Happy's Irish Pub on 3rd Street and reportedly left the bar around 11:30 p.m. to go back to his hotel. His phone and wallet were apparently found several blocks away, but Millard has not been seen since.

Someone else was apparently caught on camera using Millard's credit card at a Greyhound bus station in Baton Rouge sometime after that, sources close to situation told WBRZ.

“There are certain things surrounding this case that raise suspicion for us," BRPD spokesperson L'Jean McKneely said earlier this week.

Man in Louisiana for business trip goes missing; wife discusses details, fears

Police said on Wednesday that video shows he was last seen walking away from the downtown Baton Rouge area the evening he disappeared. They added camera footage is being reviewed to help determine where he went.

Investigators said one person has been interviewed about the disappearance, and additional interviews are expected soon.

The missing man’s wife, Amber Millard, also said police were able to find his wallet at the Greyhound Bus Station on Florida Boulevard. She said his credit card was in the wallet but not an ID.

Newly-released photos captured from video surveillance show Nathan Millard leaving his downtown hotel. His wife said the man in the blue shirt pictured next to Nathan was his client, Josh, whom he was working with.

Amber Millard said her husband is her best friend. When he left for a business trip, she said she never imagined he would soon be reported missing.

“He called me; he said, you know, that they were going to go to a college basketball game, very just brief,” described Amber, which ended up being one of the last messages they shared before he went missing.

She said her husband was working with a client on a property in Baton Rouge. The two went to an LSU basketball game, and afterward, they went to a bar downtown, Happy’s. The client told her and police that Nathan Millard left the bar around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, to head back to his hotel room at the Courtyard Marriott, just a block away.

“Well, I never heard from him. I woke up and I knew immediately, waking up during the night, and at least I would have a text. I know that. I was kind of like, ‘Huh,’” recalled Amber Millard.

Nathan Millard was supposed to meet with his client at the property site the next morning, but he never showed up. His client went back to the Courtyard Marriott and asked the managers to check Nathan Millard’s room. His belongings were still there, and the bed was still perfectly made.

She said police have been looking at surveillance video and her husband’s debit card purchases since last week. She added his card was used twice Feb. 23, on Florida Street and at the Greyhound Bus Station.

“My understanding is that they have tried to get camera footage over and over. There is only one that has been returned back to them, and it shows a Black male using Nathan’s debit card,” explained Amber Millard.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The body of the Georgia man who went missing in Baton Rouge has been found, according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.

Police said Nathan Millard, 42, was found dead Monday, March 6, around 3:34 a.m. in the 2900 block of Scenic Hwy.

His body was found in a vacant lot, family members confirmed.

<snip>
Texas EquuSearch said law enforcement got a call early this morning from someone driving by who smelled a foul odor. They said the body was supposedly rolled in carpet, covered in plastic.

Well, I think everyone expected that unfortunately. I hope they find the SOB that did it. Killing someone for any reason, Much less for their debit card. How would someone know how much money they have in their account?. Just kill someone and take the chance?. Unless the perp demanded the information. He knew the pin #. The poor guy probably thought by giving the information, He wouldn't be hurt. Maybe the perp was behind him at an ATM at the bar. He didn’t have to be killed. Robbery is bad enough with assault. Unnecessary killing the poor man. It is alarming how many people are walking around with no conscience. I'm guessing the perp has a record that includes violence. He might have been thinking "I'm not going back to jail again". Prayers for his family and that the perp is caught.

Family reveals Nathan Millard autopsy findings; police say ‘no foul play’ suspected

The family of the Georgia man who died during a business trip to Baton Rouge says they have been told he likely died of an accidental overdose.

The family said investigators told them Tuesday, March 7, that an autopsy on Nathan Millard, 42, of Walton County, Ga., showed “no internal or external trauma” to the body.

The Baton Rouge Police Department later confirmed during a news conference that “foul play” is not suspected.

“There doesn’t appear to be any foul play at this point. I know that he was placed there obviously by another individual, we would like to know who and why. But just from the autopsy results that were given by the Coroner’s Office, at this time it doesn’t appear to be any signs of foul play,” said Captain Heinz.

East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner Dr. Beau Clark said the final autopsy results are pending further studies, including toxicology testing. He added the cause of death and manner of death are pending the completion of the final autopsy report.

Police said they are looking into how Millard’s body got there.

“It does appear that he was left there, that that’s most likely not where he died. I don’t want to go into details on our investigative efforts, but efforts are underway to locate and to talk to whoever may have put him there,” said Heinz.

Investigators said it is possible he was with others when he accidentally overdosed, and they moved his body to another location.

New video of the Georgia father-of-five whose remains were found in Louisiana Monday shows him walking with a mystery man in the hours leading up to his disappearance last month.

Nathan Millard, 42, was seen walking along Florida Boulevard in Baton Rouge near or after midnight on February 22 after leaving Happy’s Irish Pub, where he was cut off for allegedly having too much to drink, WBRZ reported.

The video shows the late father accompanied by an unidentified man who keeps falling over, with officials not specifying if it was the same man that Millard was pictured with at his hotel later that day.

The encounter occurred before Millard refused help from a Greyhound bus security guard and went missing, with police finding his body rolled up in a carpet almost two weeks later in an empty lot.

<snip>
The new video shows Millard walking with the unknown man along Florida Boulevard, where his hotel is located. While the man appeared tipsy and falling over, Millard appeared to be walking normally.

Millard, however, walked past his hotel to the nearby Greyhound bus station, where a security guard offered to call him a ride or call police, but he declined, according to Baton Rouge Cpt. Kevin Heinz.

Dam. The guy is still guilty of more than one crime. If it was an O.D. can be charged with providing the drugs. Failure to call 911, Failing to report a death, Abuse of a corpse, Concealment, Unauthorized use of a credit card or the like for using the ATM card, And theft. Stealing from a dead man. Scumbag.

The Baton Rouge Police Department identified that man as 45-year-old Derrick Perkins, who's wanted on charges including criminal damage to property, three counts of access device fraud and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, as well as for violating his probation.

Police said Perkins is "needed for questioning" in the Nathan Millard investigation but would not call him a suspect relative to that case.

ARREST

Police: Man linked to Nathan Millard investigation tried to 'disguise' stolen car as case drew national attention

The Baton Rouge Police Department said 45-year-old Derrick Perkins was taken into custody without incident and booked Tuesday morning on charges including criminal damage to property, three counts of access device fraud and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, as well as for violating his probation.

An arrest warrant obtained by WBRZ says Perkins had been driving a 2004 Toyota Camry that was reported stolen Feb. 3 on East Buchanan Street. Police allege that Perkins spray-painted the car's bumper, removed a rear bumper sticker and swapped the car's plate in an effort to "disguise" the vehicle around the same time that Nathan Millard's disappearance "gained national attention" in late February/early March.

Arrest records also said Perkins was caught on surveillance cameras using Millard's dedit card at two different businesses on Highland Road, in the old South Baton Rouge area, within days of Millard's disappearance.

Perkins' listed address is less than a mile from the vacant lot off Scenic Highway where Millard's body was found

A Baton Rouge man, already in jail for another count, has been arrested for his involvement in the improper disposal of the body of Nathan Millard, the Georgia man who went missing last month, Baton Rouge Police said.

Derrick Perkins, 45, was already jailed for accusations he used Millard's debit card the evening he disappeared.

In addition to his earlier arrest on a count of access device fraud, Perkins now faces additional counts of unlawful disposal of remains, obstruction of justice, simple criminal damage to property and failure to seek justice in his arrest on Monday, BRPD said.

The Georgia man who vanished in Baton Rouge last month likely died of a drug overdose in a home before his body was dumped in a deserted lot, Baton Rouge police said Monday.

<snip>
BRPD spokesman Sgt. L'Jean McKneely Jr. said Monday that Nathan Millard may have died inside a home.

"We're not sure if Derrick Perkins sold him the drugs or not," McKneely said.

Thats alot to digest for his family, holy cow😐

Wow. Just now first read all this case, hadn't heard of it before. Just wow. His poor wife and family. I don't like to knock victims but not an unfamiliar story of POSSIBLY a man cheating on his wife while out of town and with prostitutes. I am pretty sure that is what I was married to, I saw many, many signs of such, in fact I am sure. And it's e?mbarrassing as he77 and hurtful.

Not saying it's a fact but seems like the likely scenario. I also think some of them think it's harmless and what "guys" do but clearly it isn't harmless is it? He lost his life and look what the family is now dealing with on top of his loss. She may even question the death but speaking up in such circumstances now has to be hard.

To that point, I don't like cases like this. How do we know he even used drugs routinely or that he wasn't given something intentionally with the intent of robbing him or at least putting him out or in worse shape TO steal?

I also have to wonder about the client. Did he set this up being from the area, meaning introduce them, know the prostitute(s), etc. or was the prostitute in the bar and came up to Millard, etc. and entirely unrelated to the client or did two come up to both of them and so on... And a guy ends up with his card, etc. This reeks of a set up.

I'm not so sure there shouldn't be other charges or a further look for murder or some such. I wondered as I read through this case if they weren't just saying no foul play to put the perps at ease so they came in or gave themselves up, etc. thinking they weren't wanted for murder at least...

I don't think we've heard the end of this one BUT if the wife/family or someone doesn't ask for a further look, not so sure they won't just close it. I think plenty of questions remain here. A key one would be did he use drugs because getting himself in a situation where he was one with several others he didn't know including a male, likely pimp or some such, he could have been forced to do anything including giving a PIN and more....

Assuming HE overdosed on his own is a big assumption imo.

Tiffany Ann Guidry was taken into custody while standing on the corner of Nicholson Drive and Terrance Street, just a mile south of where Millard was staying while in Louisiana. Police say they were tipped off to her location.

An autopsy of would reveal "’no evidence of internal or external," but investigators were waiting on a toxicology report to make a final ruling on his death.

<snip>
It is not clear how Guidry and Barner came across Millard.

So they still stand on street corners... I'm sure they still frequent hotels and bars in most areas they deem worth it... And truck stops.... Etc.

Technology has changed a lot in life but not prostitutes standing on the corner.

Not grouping or generalizing just saying... And they may be run by someone else but they may have been willing and involved...

And he made a risky choice... Of course his drinks at the bar, etc. could have been drugged. Hell the prostitutes could have been at the game, another known place... Or it all could have been set up with the trip... Going out of town, wife not with, the usual. Sorry but it isn't uncommon...

He is a victim and may he RIP, he met evil but I feel sorriest for his wife and family.

Still wondering about the client.... What LE has shared somewhat skirts that...
