An Amber Alert remains in effect Sunday for a missing 9-year-old Colorado girl, who law enforcement believe was taken by her mother and could be in danger.
The Basalt Police Department says they were contacted by Sloan Lipnick's father on Friday after he hadn't heard from his child or ex-wife Carly Lipnick for several days. The mother's phone had been turned off all week.
Detectives were then led to Denver when Carly Lipnick's phone pinged off a cell tower there and were able to find the hotel she had been staying at with her daughter. Staff confirmed Lipnick checked out with Sloan at noon Friday.
Police say they believe Sloan could be in danger after speaking with a mental health professional "who had received information from [the mother], causing concern for the safety and welfare of the 9-year-old daughter." Lipnick does not have custody of her child.
An Amber Alert was issued Saturday afternoon. There is a warrant for the mother's arrest.
