ONGOING CRIME BREAKING NEWS!

Starting in January 2020, this thread is about the news as it breaks!

Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

FARNHAMVILLE, Iowa —

21 man, 21, charged with hiding body of 17-year-old girl found dead

Iowa authorities have identified the missing teenager found dead Monday in Calhoun County.

Michele "Luna" Jackson, 17, was first reported missing Sunday evening
Nathaniel Bevers-McGivney is charged with abuse of a corpse – failure to disclose known location in connection to the homicide of a 17-year-old girl in Farnhamville, population 400. . He is being held in the Carroll County Jail.

The criminal complaint says shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday, a woman contacted the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office to report her daughter missing. She and her other daughter were out walking and looking for the missing daughter when they came upon Bevers-McGivney, who was “covered in apparent blood” and was in possession of the missing daughter’s scooter and other personal effects.

According to the criminal complaint, when questioned by law enforcement about the blood on his clothes, Bevers-McGivney requested to speak to a lawyer. He was detained and transported to the Carroll County Jail while the investigation continued.

The missing girl’s body was found shortly after 9 a.m. Monday. The criminal complaint alleges that the location where the girl’s body was discovered “suggests that Bevers-McGivney intentionally hid” the body to conceal a crime. Authorities used crime scene tape to block off Farnhamville City Park, where more than a dozen evidence markers noted possible clues for investigators. KCCI saw apparent blood stains on the ground at the park as officials were investigating the area

Just WTF?!!! Asked for a lawyer, Had blood on his clothes. Dipsh**!! Now this is a case with obvious evidence. Good luck moron! Senseless!! A 17 year old!!! This is awful!!! It is cases like this, That are why I believe in the death penalty. But Iowa doesn't have it.

It was considered too expensive in way too many cases that are now proving wrongful conviction. In most of those cases, the evidence was there but never tested.
That's outright WRONG! My stance is. There needs to be irrefutable evidfor someone to he sentenced to death. But just because there have been mistakes. The death penalty shouldn't be banned. They don't deserve to live!! Take a life. YOU DON'T GET TO KEEP YOURS!!! And, When you hear the graphic details of what they did to their victims. And, They sit there without any remorse. They aren't going to sit in prison and think about what they've done. They don't care. That isn't punishment. But, They don't want to die.

I'm not against it but when evidence has been presented that could lead to reasonable doubt, plus the prosecution says there is now reasonable doubt and the family of the victim says there is reasonable doubt, it should not be implemented.

I agree on this case. And any situation like it.

Cant find the KC fans thread, don't care to look further or maybe there never was one or not using right search words. No biggie. Just a case I care about and news on it.

He brings together all the coverage on cases always in a show, the articles, the attorney for the surviving friend talking, pressers, etc. New news. His attorney spoke and other news. There are charges coming, BIG ones, doesn't sound like the biggest are going to be against the surviving friend but not clear that he won't be facing something but his atty claims the murder charges are not going to be against him if I recall it right. Saw this a night or two ago already.

Mom Hanged Son, 8, and His Sister, 4, from Basement Beam, Then Tried to Blame Son by Saying He'd Been Suicidal

Lisa Snyder, the Pennsylvania mother on trial for the hanging deaths of her two young children, has been found guilty, according to reports.
First-degree murder convictions in Pennsylvania automatically carry a life sentence.

The Pennsylvania mother was found guilty of killing two of her children, 8-year-old Conner and 4-year-old Brinley, in September 2019.

PEOPLE previously reported that Snyder was arrested in December 2019 in connection with their hanging deaths. The Pennsylvania mother initially claimed to police that she called 911 after discovering her two children hanging from a support beam in the family’s basement from the opposite ends of the same dog lead and two chairs overturned beneath them.

Snyder had told police her son was being bullied at school and made reference to wanting to die by suicide, and to not die alone. But several family members and employees at the 8-year-old’s school testified that Conner was never bullied at school, was not suicidal and never experienced sudden emotional changes, according to WFMZ.

The outlet reports that at the trial, prosecutors presented Snyder's internet searches in the days leading up to her kids’ murders, on topics like suicide and the true crime TV show I Almost Got Away With It.

Snyder’s adult son Owen Snyder testified during his mother’s trial, referring to her as “Lisa” rather than as “Mom.” When asked why he was referring to Snyder that way, WFMZ reports that Owen told the courtroom he no longer considers her his mother.

I saw this the other day elsewhere. I recall it well. It is a sick one where there was also a thing about the family dog do I have the correct one? All cases are bad but some are just beyond. This is definitely one of them. And she didn't hang the dog, it was more disgusting than that. I will leave that there.

Nate.

Figured it belonged in the current news crime one, not non crime as no one would be in cuffs if not a crime...

Could be arrested wearing any clothing or lack thereof...

nate got cuffed. mug shotted. also got wrapped, etc. like if someone is trying to self harm. they showed how the tablet phone call thing works in that they are notified if someone calls out or in to an inmate... pretty interesting. and this is just county....
