ONGOING CRIME BREAKING NEWS!

Starting in January 2020, this thread is about the news as it breaks!

Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

IMO- stay in jail

When a 6-year-old girl was found this week hidden under a staircase in a home in Saugerties, New York, it was shocking. Paislee Shultis disappeared in 2019, allegedly abducted by her non-custodial parents. We don’t yet know all the details in Paislee’s case, but one thing is clear - family abductions are serious and often misunderstood.
Chances are you’ve heard stories about stranger abductions, but family abductions are far more common and can be just as damaging and dangerous for a child. Family abductions were reported 20 times more often to us here at the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) than non-family abductions in the year 2020. Currently, we have over 1,100 children actively missing because of family abduction.

You might think that this type of abduction is less serious because, “At least they’re with their mom or dad...” but that’s often not the case. Decades of research show the serious and harmful effects that family abductions can have on child victims.

Children abducted by a parent are often told lies to justify abruptly leaving home. They often remain isolated out of fear of being noticed or getting caught. Many times, they are kept out of school, away from parks and neighbors, and without any contact with friends or family members.

They’ll often be told lies about their other parent.

“Your mother is dangerous…”

“Your father doesn’t love you…”

“Your mother is dead…”

Trusting their parents, these lies become new realities for these young children.

We hear those lies so often in family abduction cases we call them the “3 D’s”: Dead, Disinterested, or Dangerous.

Sadly, of the family abduction cases that NCMEC has worked on to date, 121 children have been located deceased.
I have more hope that the child is alive in a family abduction case but that is just alive, The psychological and other damage in any case of abduction is big as well but as far as having hope a child is alive, I do have more hope if a parent took them. And I'd guess that more of them are found safe than those who were abducted by anyone else.

But I do think family abduction is more frequent than stranger or acquaintance abduction by far.

Can we start a thread on this case?

OH :poop: they got my picture!! :panic:
These days, nothing would surprise me...

Been busy haven't you...?

Dropped your owner's manual during a bank robbery getaway I'd bet...

No wonder you have been switching up cars... And didn't want to find that title, you're hoping if junked no trail will be found back to you...

Okay, now I'm starting to convince myself as it all makes sense now...

The Wayne County Morgue was forced to dig up the body of a person who was identified as a woman at the time of burial because that woman is actually alive and well. The body has since been identified as a missing man.

Over the past several months, the Local 4 Defenders have uncovered a number of problems at the Wayne County Morgue. A manhunt for an accused murderer ended when police learned that person’s body had been at the morgue the entire time. In another case, a mother said her daughter’s body was delivered to a funeral home with maggots in her mouth. Another family said they weren’t notified about their loved one’s body being at the morgue for 17 months.

If that isn't disturbing enough, I read the whole article. Who is covering for this absolute incompetence? An email saying they didn't want the information public in one case as it would damage the morgue's image?? They have to exhume and try to keep it silent and hushed? The same medical examiner still works there it sounds like and the person who oversees the department is still there (unclear on these but it seems so)? Major funding for the place and this is how it is run?

A woman who was not missing named dead and a man who was missing never found and loved ones worried when all the time he was dead in her grave... Smh.

Scary. Scarier yet that it seems nothing seems to have been done about it and they want it to just go away...

<snip> The lawsuit claimed that Trayvon Martin’s parents, along with Crump, participated in the conspiracy in an effort to get charges filed against Zimmerman, have him tried and “destroy his good will and reputation in the community.” <snip> :ROFLMAO:
:rofl::lol:

Harrison, who had worked for 10 different law enforcement agencies in Florida, “exhibited a pattern of inappropriate behavior involving juvenile females,” the sheriff’s office said in the news release. Investigators now think the ex-deputy may have been behind other sex assault cases in the Sunshine State.

So he had showed a pattern of inappropriate behavior with juvenile females, apparently never got in any trouble and died without anything having been done about it I assume. Happy they solved it but how tragic since clearly people knew of his behavior prior. Did one agency just pass him off to the next... Sounds like it...

I found his obituary. He was in LE for 25 years. Divided by 10 different agencies. Carry the 5. Hm. That's an average of 2.5 years in TEN different agencies.

so imagine how many victims he has since we can be pretty certain he wasn't passed to the next agency after only one incident.

And was hers the only death... One really has to wonder if he had that kind of a pattern to begin with...

I hate this kind of thing. It sure seems they all just passed the problem on... I know of teachers and school board presidents they have done that with and things like cops and priests. I think we can all think of cases of it. It is maddening that it is like oh he's not our problem now, let him go molest the kids in some other school district, city, etc., not our problem any more...

No kidding... And this was a death/murder and he had a pattern with juvenile females... I mean do we have a serial killer here... Or was this his first of doing that... Not really so far fetched when looking at the number of jobs, that he had a pattern and that this one died...
