JOSHUA "JJ" VALLOW, TYLEE RYAN, TAMMY DAYBELL, & CHARLES VALLOW: State of Idaho/Arizona vs. Lori & Chad Daybell *GUILTY*

Police seem to be no closer to finding 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan than they were when this story began months ago.

Since that time, the story has gained international attention as it’s taken twists and turns involving a purported cult, dead spouses, delusions of divinity and preparing for the end of the world. Despite all the angles, and the ever-growing number of people related to the case, the facts remain essentially the same as when it was first announced.

The two children remain missing and the parents, Lori (Vallow) Daybell, and her new husband, Chad Daybell, refuse to disclose their whereabouts to police. Both have been named persons of interest in the disappearance of the children. Law enforcement is also investigating the deaths of the Daybells’ previous respective spouses, Charles Vallow and Tammy Daybell, though neither Chad nor Lori have been named suspects in those cases.

I haven't watched this yet but there must be news as Linda is saying this case is not going this spring and is or will be postponed delayed.

I guess a good side to it is her trial and Chad's won't be at the same time as was the case. That would be a nightmare when we all want to see and keep up with both.

I’ve decided that I’m no longer going to expect a trial to begin until it starts jury selection. That way I won’t be as frustrated with all the delays.
No kidding.

And in Dulos they selected a jury like months ahead of time which I've never heard of before and right before it was to start, an issue came up with what was it, two jurors? And so a delay.

Our system is a mess and things have gone way too far. It doesn't operate reliably and it certainly doesn't efficiently.

And I could go on.

Delay after delay and appeals and 3/4 of them over b.s. that shouldn't even be considered. Legitimate, yes. Otherwise, no.

I could go into and sidetrack easily but fortunately for all, I am headed to work so i can't.

John Prior has asked to WITHDRAW as Chad is indigent and he would be working for no pay. So guaranteed I'd say this trial will not proceed on time.

I'm sure Chad was likely indigent before now so I see it as a delay strategy, etc. But who knows....

Well Boyce let the two of them paint him into a corner in Lori's case where he had to dismiss the DP and now being put into a corner is being attempted again.

I've not been a fan of Boyce and that opinion continues.

Of course this is play/games by Prior but.... Prior has had forever to prepare so it really is not an excuse BUT this is a DP case and so...

Chad Daybell: Lawyer for husband of 'Doomsday Mom' Lori Vallow to withdraw as counsel

The lawyer currently representing the husband of the so-called ‘Doomsday Mom’ is set to withdraw from his role as counsel.

According to legal documents obtained by FOX 10 Investigator Justin Lum, John Prior has filed a petition with a court in Idaho's Fremont County, requesting to withdraw from his role as counsel in the case in the case against Chad Daybell.

"As this court is aware, this case is both extraordinarily complex, and the prosecution is seeking the death penalty, which requires counsel to essentially prepare for two trials," Prior wrote in the documents.

The same document stated that Daybell, who retained Prior as legal counsel with personal funds, has been declared indigent, in accordance with Idaho state law, and no longer has the ability to pay for the counsel's continued services.

"Remaining on the case would required undersigned counsel to work around the clock, more than full-time, for more than four months without compensation and without the assistance of any other counsel," read a portion of the filing.

The same filing states that Daybell is seeking to have two capital case-qualified attorneys to be appointed for him, and that Daybell has consented to Prior's decision to withdraw from the case.

Well the judge does not have to grant this request. So that will be interesting to see what comes about. I think it was Arias where an attorney wanted to withdraw (in that one I believe a public defender) and the judge made him stay on.

I'm fairly certain Chad did not just now become indigent right after Prior failed to get the judge to dismiss the DP for Chad. The case has went on a LONGGGG time and I am sure the value of Chad's home and money from Tammy's death and life insurance is long gone (personally I doubt he had any left or little when arrested).

Imo Prior is forcing the hand of the State and/or the judge.

It sucks because Chad deserved to go to trial on APRIL FOOL'S DAY, I thought that was so fitting.

I've often thought the two were working in tandem and it is a bit odd that the last news wasL ori's trial would be delayed just a day or two ago and now Prior files this...

The speedy trial of one and not speedy trial of the other formerly worked out well with Lori getting the DP dismissed. Boyce allowed it to happen and now he did not dismiss the DP for Chad and now here we go with the hand being forced imo. Either Prior is allowed to withdraw which will cause a seriously long delay with new attorneys to get up to speed for a DP case or he refuses it but not sure how he can if Prior is not getting paid, and adds help or additional counsel which again will take time to get up to speed and I imagine either thing could be possibly a basis for appeal.

Of course it is b.s. in that Prior did not just realize this or Chad just now became indigent, it is strategy.

I'd also say if it is that bad that Prior should put Chad's kids out of Prior's home and and sell it or rent it out for some little bit of payment. Sarcasm intended.

The one thing about not just YT videos (where the news often is seen first) but news and places like Court TV have opinions on such moves but print articles rarely do. And both have value. BUT to me this is clearly strategy which HTC as much as said. They aren't my fave YT channel by a long shot but I do agree with her take on this one.

Anyhow Lori's is likely delayed and Chad's will perhaps be as well no matter the decision even though April is some time away yet. Whatever will Boyce do?

So no Daybell cases anytime likely soon as the two play the system together imo.

You know I believe the Court can order him to see it through but I'm not sure how that works, if they would have to pay him a public defender rate and maybe provide him with help or what. I know they can order public defenders to stay on and it seems to me they can here too but may have to provide him with assistance.

It's hard to believe Prior would bail and he as much as said to the Court that this trial will be nothing like Lori's, he isn't going to give NO case like Archibald pretty much did and would not be lying down, prosecution was going to have to deal with a real defense from Prior. Of course hardly ever seen an attorney who isn't about money...I still think it is strategy and he is putting the judge in a corner. If he can't get assistance and help that assistance get up to speed as he knows the case, then this will be delayed for a LONGGG time imo. Boyice kept the death penalty and that's what Prior is saying pretty much, because he did, this is the spot he is in. HOWEVER Prior has had a long darned time to prep for this and the DP was always on the table...

I have to also say I don't buy that Chad just ran out of money either. I doubt Chad had much of the life insurance left AND his home is not worth THAT much. I had $50K in bills for a divorce. Of course one did no work and her bill should be shoved up her arse but there were few court appearances or anything and that's what it totaled. Chad has to owe ten times that and no way did he not hit his ceiling long ago.

Prior is pushing the envelope and putting the court in a corner.

I also find it a bit odd that right when we find out Lori's trial will not be too soon, Chad's lawyer simultaneouisly does this almost. I have always believed her speedy trial and his lack of one etc. was a plan AND it worked for Lori. Boyce HAD no choice but to eventually split the two cases where both of the the evil ones had joined cases and then had to take the DP off the table for Lori.

I fail to see why almost no one out there will say Boyce caused that. And now here we go again.

Prior like most attorneys would probably never give his services for free BUT I don't think that's what this is about, and he seemed to WANT to try this case....

Well anyhow we had two Daybell trials one for each coming soon but now it looks like we may see neither...

:thud:

Whaaat?

Well, at least Chad is in jail in the meantime. That’s one consolation.
Yeah and this may keep him in jail longer than in prison which I suspect he is A-okay with. I'm pretty sure it is strategic and it puts Boyce in a spot. If he dismisses the DP he will have egg on his face and per Prior Chad is broke anyhow so that wouldn't fix it. If he lets Prior withdraw imo he will have egg on his face and may well be out of office before this ever goes to trial. I personally wouldn't vote for him. He handled Lori's case all right but that was not even close to enough to right the wrongs and here we are again with two defendants playing the system and the judge and WINNING at that part of it. Who has much doubt Lori would very likely have been sentenced to death just for what was done to her children without even Tammy added in? I don't.

Boyce has a chip on his shoulder as well. He reacts PERSONALLY when criticized.

Anyhow maybe that's all besides the point but here he is in another spot much of which started over having to sever the trials and take the DP off the table for Lori. Had he not lost the game in this game play by the defendants, Chad's trial would be over by now and have been done along with Lori's and Prior been the attorney before now when Chad went broke supposedly now and Prior doesn't have enough help for a DP case, although I'm sure something else would have been used to stop that by one defense or another BUT maybe Boyce should have seen this coming for a long time as to maybe he should have severed the trials way back...

And I've said it many a time but I am going to repeat it, the man kept having a hearing to later have a hearing to see if a hearing was needed to have a hearing. Yeah NO TIME lost there when Lori was on speedy trial status, her right.

Okay I will stop as I am ready to go on. And on.

Does that mean his kids lost out on their inheritance? Didn’t one of his kids live in the house?
If Chad truly signed the home over to Prior, that inheritance was lost back when and he gave each of his kids some amount in the four figures from Tammy's life insurance, was it 6 or 8KI think. And I'm sure the rest is long gone. Those kids have no inheritance from their parents nor ever will, Chad will be a penniless convict and right now he is a penniless accused.

And with the kid/s staying there, we don't know if Prior does that out of the goodness of his heart OR the kid pays him rent. All are adults by now. What else is Prior going to do with a murder house and burial property while the case is still ongoing, he doesn't want it to live there, he'd rent it and a kid of Chad's would stay there, it is their home and they don't believe any of it, but who else would want to rent it? I wouldn't. He probably called Satan into the home nightly after Tammy was in bed and dealt in his dark stuff.
