Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

Was so hopeful that the 8-year-old was picked up by her siblings or also "ran away". :sigh:
The older two are still missing / runaways but have been in contact with LE & family and not believed to be in danger.

So the children went missing on different dates. The older ones have been gone since last fall. At first, I wondered if they ran off because of seeing their sister killed? It does say they did not run off from their mother's though right? So I assume they were in foster care? Is the woman arrested their mother or a foster mother?

If the older two are somewhere they have been safe, well and taken care of and are doing well in school, I hope they leave them be. If, however, they are in less than good circumstances, that will be an issue... Were they not looking for them until recently?

There is a lot not explained. May this little girl RIP.

Dad is in prison. Mom lost custody due to drugs or something. They were staying with grandma.
Oldest boy ran off in September, oldest girl ran off in October. They were reported missing and have had active missing persons reports.
Two youngest were still in the home until this past Monday, when the 8-year-old was reported missing.
The woman arrested is grandma.
Can only imagine why the oldest two ran away after hearing this news. Their survivor's guilt must be unbearable. :(

Wow. I gathered dad in prison. Picked up on drugs with mom and possibly children given drugs.
Didn't know they were staying with grandma. Did not know grandma was one that was arrested.
So oldest children did not run off at same time...

I truly figured the woman arrested would be mom, an aunt/foster or a stranger foster mom. Grandma. Wow. :(

I do hope they make sure there was no foul play and do all to be sure but it sounds like per her own family and some posts by them even, that they feel she did this, perhaps over upset over the bf, hard to say, I don't want to put words into their mouths...

No she just went missing Monday. Or very recently.

Not located. In contact with LE and family, and not believed to be in danger, but still "missing/runaways".
