Ariel Young seriously injured in KC MO car accident

You know, he must have refused a breathalyzer? Everyone I know of spends the night at least in jail after either refusing a breathalyzer or taking one and failing if the signs of alcohol were there which they were in this case. It makes no difference that the hospital BAC test has to be waited for as they already had cause for all of it.

From this article:

A search warrant application states that Ariel's mother told police "as she crawled from her Chevy Traverse, she observed Reid standing looking at the vehicles and talking on his cellphone," the Star reports.
She then "pled" with Reid to call 911 since she lost her phone in the crash, according to the court documents.

Judgmental maybe but what? Why was he not checking to see who was inside and rushing to see if help was needed?? Would that not be the normal human response?? I have been in accidents and it is the first thing that comes out of my mouth to total strangers even if apparently all right. Are you all right? Are you all right? Are you sure? And the same generally in return.

Much remains to be seen I realize, and I am not throwing him under the bus yet but I just hope it is handled as all cases would be. People are really fed up in this nation with special breaks for certain types. Not saying it is the case here yet but I think we all know of many such things. It will be interesting to see who he immediately contacted after the crash.

He's still in the hospital after surgery and hopefully he was on the phone to 911 when she saw him talking on the phone. He very well could be going to jail as soon as he is released from the hospital if he was dui.

Could be. That would be the best scenario for him, that he was on with 911.

I have not heard one word about what he is hospitalized for nor of any surgery. Articles do describe the little girls' injuries.

it's in the article you linked

"Reid, the Chiefs' outside linebackers coach and son of head coach Andy Reid, was hospitalized after Thursday's accident. He did not go to Super Bowl LV Sunday night."
Confused. I mean hospitalized with what, that he had surgery, I had not/have not seen that, etc. I know he was hospitalized. I know he did not go to Superbowl. I know he felt sick and went to the hospital. That's about it.

Hmmm. Well I guess if it was due to expire prior to this accident, it is meaningless in one way but it does make one wonder why they possibly had already decided not to renew his contract? Were there issues prior and they wanted him gone? Or do you suppose it would have been renegotiated?

Interesting that this is the first article I have seen that never even touches on his admitting to a few drinks, alcohol on the breath, etc. Is it because it is NFL. com? It seems kind of whitewashed in that way. Just an observation.

A 5-year-old child seriously hurt in a crash involving Kansas City Chiefs coach Britt Reid was in "critical condition and hasn’t woken since the crash," according to family.

A relative of the young girl, identified in a GoFundMe as Ariel, gave the update days after Reid was involved in a multicar crash. Two children were injured in the wreck that took place near Arrowhead Stadium on Thursday night, but it was the 5-year-old who was left with serious injuries.

That's not a good sign if she still hasn't waken up after a week. :sigh:

Kansas City, Missouri, police investigators applied for the warrant to “help determine if there was any phone activity prior to or at the time of the crash, and whether the phone was subsequently used to discuss the incident with other persons,” according to the search warrant application.

✂️

Police records referenced in the application show that a 911 call from a phone linked to Britt Reid was made at 9:11:43 p.m., less than 90 seconds from the reported time of the wreck at 9:10 p.m. It is not clear if Reid had already called 911 by the time the mother asked him to call for help.

✂️

The officer wrote in the warrant that he observed signs of impairment, after which Reid complained of stomach pain and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Andy Reid confirmed Monday that Britt Reid underwent surgery for unspecified injuries sustained in the crash.

That article is from 4 days ago and listed Britt as having no injuries.
but this article from today states she is still in a coma.

I also have to wonder if they didn't renew his contract due to him possibly not being available to because of this (anticipating jail time?) or was he possibly drinking because he had been told his contract was not going to be renewed since he would have possibly been told about this time either way if it was going to be renewed? the end of his contract was within days of this date negotiations would have been going on at the very least.

I can't go too far into this without getting upset but I can tell you in our case it was about three days before we had a declaration of brain death. The first scan had a tiny trickle of somehing which gave us hope but the doctor quickly told us with compassion that no, he shook his head, she just was not quite there yet where they could call it. The next day she was.

That's enough, it is tearing me apart. STILL can't talk about it.

But if she has not had a call yet of that, my thought is she may have SOME hope as it has been over a week. Whether that hope means she may survive or ever be a 100 percent, I don't know. I also am not using any medical knowledge, just basing it on our experience. Of course the family could have had that called and not be sharing it and still trying to have hope.

The administrative leave lasted for the duration of the contract, which apparently wasn’t much longer.
*So to clear up the salatious headlines, Britt's contract wasn't terminated due to this accident.*
exactly!

this does lead me to wonder if he just found out that his contract wasn't going to be renewed or that the reality of his employment with the Chiefs ending was sinking in.

to be fair to both sides, we do not know how many drinks he actually had. This could just as easily sway one way or the other.
