For those who may not be familiar with this case, Aundria was born with the name ALEXIS and her mom's family urged her to give her up for adoption. The man who appears to have confessed was her adoptive father. Alexis' adoptive mother seemed to protect him! If not for Alexis' real mom, we might not be here today!

Here's another murder he's been charged with:

A man whose adopted daughter mysteriously vanished after allegedly accusing him of sexual abuse has been arrested in a separate cold case murder of a Virginia woman, killed in her home nearly 40 years ago.

Dennis Bowman, 70, of Allegan County, Michigan was arrested Friday and charged with the 1980 murder of 25-year-old Kathleen Doyle, according to a press release from the Norfolk Police Department.

Doyle was found murdered in her Norfolk home while her husband, a U.S. Navy pilot, was deployed.

“Norfolk Police detectives and #NCIS agents have been unyielding in their efforts to bring Mrs. Doyle’s killer to justice,” police stated. “Ultimately, the culmination of these efforts, along with forensic evidence has led to this case being solved.”

Authorities haven't detailed the evidence against Bowman, nor has a possible motive been revealed.

Details of Disappearance
Aundria was last seen in Hamilton, Michigan on March 11, 1989. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and was placed for adoption at the age of five months. After a period in foster care, she was adopted by the Bowman family at age 21 months.

Aundria disappeared shortly after she accused her adoptive father, Dennis Lee Bowman, of sexually abusing her. He was already on parole at the time for an unrelated offense; in 1980, he had attempted to kidnap a nineteen-year-old woman at gunpoint. He was released from prison in 1986.

In the fall of 1988, Aundria started refusing to go home from school. The staff at the school called the police, and Aundria told them Dennis was molesting her. A truant officer and a social worker went to the Bowman residence to confront Aundria's adoptive parents with the allegations, and Dennis and his wife said he had not abused her and that Aundria had problems because she had recently found out she was adopted.

Shortly afterwards, Dennis moved the family to a trailer in an isolated, rural area. Aundria disappeared from there. Her last confirmed location was reported by Dennis, who said she'd stolen some money from the house before she left.

After Aundria's disappearance, her adoptive parents quickly moved away from the trailer. Over the next several months, Aundria's mother repeatedly called the police saying witnesses had told her they'd seen her. None of these alleged sightings were verified.

In November 2019, Dennis was arrested and charged with the 1980 murder of Kathleen O’Brien Doyle, a 25-year-old Virginia woman. A photo of Dennis is posted with this case summary. He is awaiting trial in that case. In January 2020, he reportedly confessed to having killed Aundria as well. Authorities are currently searching his residence on 136th Avenue.

Foul play is suspected in Aundria's disappearance due to the circumstances involved.

Presser for Alexis "Aundria Bowman". Link on Wood TV FB
Remains were found under a concrete slab
All they said was remains were found.

So thankful her mom Cathy will be able to bury her. It's going to be Cathy's birthday in 5 days, she surely worked hard for this day. Very sad she won't be able to meet her only child. I hope Dennis has a miserable rest of his life.

I just watched yesterday's presser.

I'm just so angry. I knew he did it, but I'm even just as angry with the adoptive mother. She knew it! She knew he put that concrete over her too. And yet she would have the nerve to go to the Michigan missing gatherings and pretend to be the distraught mother. Makes me sick all over again.

Nasty evil people. Thank goodness he is caught. Too bad they cannot arrest the adoptive mom if she knew...

I am glad her bio mom can bury her daugther.

Not real familiar with this case but it sounds like justice has been a long time coming.

Cathy was 17 when she had Alexis Miranda Badger, who's name was changed to Aundria Michelle Bowman.

Cathy came home from work one day to find her husband with another woman while Alexis was in her crib in a soaked diaper. Cathy and Alexis went to Virginia to her mothers but instead of getting the needed support; she found her mother practically on death's door from breast cancer.

Cathy's mother had minor children, was barely getting by. At one point Alexis ran put of formula; her mother asked what is she going to do?

Cathy's mother had been speaking to Catholic Charities to adopt Alexis out. Cathy had never planned to not keep her; she felt her back was up against a wall and that she had no choice but to put Alexis up for adoption. Of course Catholic Charities told her that she had to do it ASAP because Alexis was about 6 months old; couples wanted babies... Cathy didn't want Alexis to have to go hungry like she and her siblings did.

In the end, Alexis would have been better off staying with Cathy. Because of Dennis Bowman's criminal history, he was in jail a few years and others he had issues finding a job; Alexis was just as hungry as Cathy was. We learned all of this as her friends found the FB page.

Cathy at one point found out that Catholic Charities had told the Bowman's that Alexis may have fetal alcohol syndrome because Cathy drank while pregnant which was a lie. Due to them thinking she had FAS Alexis was not given to the best of the best couples like Cathy was promised

Is what you posted from Charley Project? I ask because it's wrong. She didn't go missing from the trailer, she went missing from a house that is not there any more.

Authorities say skeletal remains were found in a shallow grave under cement Wednesday in Allegan County’s Monterey Township. It could take weeks to get an identification.

Cathy never gave up. She had been telling Michigan LE for years that Dennis had killed Aundria/Alexis and possibly others as well. Michigan LE did not believe her- the NC authorities did.
The reason I think she is super amazing is that she has helped other families for the missing in Michigan. Probably elsewhere too, but Michigan is what I know about.

Hamilton cold case murder suspect extradited to Virginia By Audra Gamble Posted Feb 7, 2020 at 3:27 PM

Bowman, who has been charged with the murder of a 25-year-old woman from Norfolk that took place in 1980, is also suspected of killing his adopted daughter in 1989. Police believe they discovered the adopted daughter’s body buried in Bowman’s yard in a shallow grave earlier this week.

Bowman was taken to the West Michigan Regional Aiport Friday, Feb. 7, for extradition back to Virginia on those 1980 charges. He was turned over to the Norfolk Police Department and the Virginia State Police Special Investigations Unit without incident.

Allegan County Undersheriff Mike Larsen announced Wednesday, Feb. 5, that police learned of information that Bowman’s adopted daughter, Aundria, may be buried in a shallow grave on Bowman’s property. The sheriff’s office, along with other law enforcement entities, was seen digging at the Bowman home on 136th Avenue during the day Wednesday. That evening, Larsen announced human remains had been found. Aundria has been listed as a missing person since 1989.

All of us familiar with this case knew he did it. But he got away with it for 30 yrs. Makes me so angry. Why do these kind of people adopt?! Your age finally convince you to confess Dennis?. All that time you buried her and put cement over her. And walked on her!!! Rest in Peace Aundria. You finally can.

The suspect in a cold case murder dating back to 1980 told a Virginia judge Monday morning that he wants to plead guilty, but the judge wasn’t ready to accept the plea.

Dennis Bowman, 70, was extradited from Michigan to Virginia over the weekend on a second-degree murder charge in the death of Kathleen Doyle.

Last week, Allegan County authorities announced they are also investigating whether Bowman may have killed his adopted daughter Aundria Bowman, who was 14 years old when she disappeared from her home in 1989.

Authorities have yet to identify the remains. Bowman is not currently charged in Aundria’s death.
