WTF is wrong with people these days? What kind of history does this guy have... And honestly where were the cops? Arguably the largest PD etc. in the world and in a few cases now not a one around...

I don't want to look further into details right now.

Yeah it's making headlines.

No one could drag me to the NYC area or anywhere in that direction.

I shake my head that when younger I actually thought I might want to go there one day and see it.

Then I heard from my SIL what it was like even years ago, that was the start of no way, and it only gets worse and worse.

Every day lately I get more and more appreciative of where I live. I was just talking to my mom about that, long call, long time since had one, overdue for sure... I'm not in my hometown but she was saying how she likes where I am at, etc... Nice small size, safe, etc. I personally hate winter but all this stinking nutty stuff doesn't go on and most things are very rare here. Hopefully that lasts... It's like some alternate universe out there.

HOW DO YOU BURN SOMEONE TO DEATH on a PUBLIC SUBWAY?

Maybe they need some freaking LE around.

Where the heck are they? Seriously. On a few cases now... In the donut shop? working from home? Not sure how you patrol that way but whatever...

Not even going to look at more right now, I do know better sometimes and it's one of those times... So I don't know the graphic details and know very well don't need to right now.

I mean in the cell phone era was no one calling for help, 911? Like almost anyone is ever off one. Again not even going to look right now at more detail.

I heard about it once prior to this. Did not look into the details. Only in passing.

The stuff i have seen about the subway over the last few months, this has not surprised me at all. It seems there are no security and the homeless just use it all day. Plus there are many with MH problems and presumsbly that is why they are homeless in the first place..

It just occurred to me, maybe she had died on the subway and so was already dead and had been on the subway for days. That certainly would not surprise me either.

Nothing would surprise me there either quite honestly, I'm not going to claim to know or have looked on all on it, but as to the subway, NY, etc. as to bad stories and events.

Not going to say a lot more other than you may certainly be right. Some cities already had their major issues and I'm staying away from politics but some of the biggest in the nation like NY, LA, etc. well there is a ton that COULD be said.

My kiddo made it home, I know many who are not going through the best of times, self included and that's what I care about right now and/or a ton of b.s.

Yesterday was some kind of day seriously for many for some reason...

Yeah, I have no wise words, but it's definitely not the first subway story, and I don't mean it's a tale, I mean the telling of such things and some really big sh*t.

I'm going to leave it at that other than to say again that some areas are hugely political and NYC is certainly one of them.

And I will also keep saying that politics do not belong in justice, cases, etc.

Yeah she may have been dead on the subway for days, I honestly do not know enough to know, just could not look at it today, actually yesterday now I guess.

The timing of a couple being pushed forward well is quite interesting...

And I'll leave that there as we all have to.

But the other thing is seriously where is LE...

It's the NY subway for goodness sakes...

I believe she was seen on video entering the subway earlier that morning. Police are trying to refine video images of her face while she was alive, that were caught on cameras, to help id her.

Witnesses apparently stood around and filmed her murder with their phones instead of calling 911. This is Kitty Genovese 2.0. At least the prosecutors now have multiple videos of him murdering her to play for the jury.

I long ago, decades in fact, crossed NYC off my list of places I would like to visit. Mr. Sunburst, before I met him, lived in NYC for a year for his job. That's all he could take. He has tons of stories about the place, and 99.99 percent of them are not good. His car was stolen 3 times while he was there. The first two times NYPD located it and it was returned to him. That is just for starters.

I have heard the upper part of the state is very pretty. I have no interest or intention of going there either. Sorry, Cuz.

Have you got a link for the people standing around filming and just letting her burn? How can people be so callous? AFAIK there are emergency fire blankets on tube trains generally. Also, what has happened to the NY Guardians - volunteers who would patrol the underground? Or am i remembering bygone days? ( I visited probably in late 80's/early 90's for work purposes.)

Oh and if she was caught on camera getting on the subway that morning, yet don't know who she is, how the heck do they know she is homeless?

This is just completely off the wall. Oh and what about the other "homeless" guy with burnt legs? Wouldn't he be a more likely suspect? To have one burnt victim on a subway is way unusual, but two, sounds like a serial killer or carelessness regarding fire safety.

There's already a wiki page about it which says bystanders were thanked for reporting the guy. The guy says he was drunk and cannot remember the incident.

Also, apparently it's not the first NY tube fire by an emotionally disturbed individual. There was one in 2020 that killed a driver and destroyed several carriages. There is a link to that in the wiki for this current event.

No one tried to help her. :( He even fanned the flames. It's sickening.

There's a theory she may have had some mobility issues as her movements in her last moments were not what one would expect.

This case of the man with burnt legs was a separate incident at Penn station where a homeless man was set alight. This cannot have been the same perpetrator as he was already in custody right?

A man was burned inside Manhattan's Penn Station train terminal on Friday, just days after a woman was set ablaze inside a Brooklyn subway car.

Metropolitan Transportation Authority police received a report of a man on fire at the transit hub just before 8pm, and when officers arrived on the scene, they found a 67-year-old man on fire near the entrance to the subway, according to the New York Daily News.

He had burn injuries to both her legs and upper body, which a fire department spokesman told the New York Times were serious but not life threatening.

The unidentified victim was then taken to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in stable condition.

Officers with the New York State police, MTA Police Department and the New York Fire Department were then seen focusing on a New Jersey Transit tunnel near tracks one through 12, according to the New York Post.

It was cordoned off by police tape as authorities seemed to focus on scraps of white clothing scattered on the ground.

Police said they were reviewing footage from security cameras and trying to find witnesses, as they investigate what caused the man's injuries.

But it comes just days after an illegal migrant allegedly set a woman on fire.

He was charged with one count of first-degree murder and three counts of second-degree murder as well as one count of first-degree arson, the Brooklyn District Attorney's office announced Friday.
Zapeta-Calil, who has been held without bail since his arrest after the horrific incident, waived his right to appear in court.
He is scheduled to be arraigned January 7.

The Penn station 67 year old man is now in critical condition.

I believe ya, my SIL (son) told me of rats running on the streets of the concrete jungle just for one. Been some years ago but his stories weren't good either and he had little good to say about it as well.

i've crossed many places I used to want to travel to off my list, I sure get it, and right now, not sure I ever want to travel again anyhow but long ago I did such.

I took believe the upper part is better but I also have no such desire.

My kiddo and the SIL probably travel four to six times a year, I mean they go a LOT. NY is not one they've ever done and I doubt they ever will either. I wonder if they will maybe tire of going because yesterday sure the heck was a nightmare of a day for them. Mentioned the travel and airline thing in posts elsewhere. And last they heard there was going to be NO reimbursement. I knew they were safe probably but man I worried about them right up to late last night until I knew they were home.

That witnesses do that is just shocking to me, although I've heard such before and sorry to say it, but particularly there in other cases. Also sorry to say it but some generations maybe more than others too. On the other hand people have "learned" to stay uninvolved I guess and do nothing but that's it's own topic I will leave alone I guess right now. I mean there's almost ambivalence these days about a lot of things.

I haven't went into the details in this because I hit times I just know I can't and It sounds like something I'd probably better not right now.

At least your hub saw LE doing something and returning the car twice. I mean it may not be the case but now like a few cases are where the heck are the cops there? It's being said anyhow in a few... If one can trust that but I mean this went on right for how long right in public.... I've not looked into it but sounds like it from posts, etc.

Hope all is well with you, I know many a person has had their struggles this year and even recently. I sure am but do not want to talk of that, but do know of others and just pray all is better for many in the new year if not SOONER even like NOW.

I'm relieved to hear you are never going there LOL, and I can definitely be added to that list as one who NEVER will. NOt even a FREE trip or invite would I go there.

The kiddo has been to CA twice now, different areas, and SIL (her hub), one just a couple of months ago. I have no desire to go there either but know parts are nice... She actually really liked San Fran which surprised me from all the things I've heard, and she means as far as bigger cities, she liked it best, of the ones went to there, not of all types of places. However, they probably spent just a day there of that trip... Had a pretty interesting experience, for some other time, or maybe I never should share...

Anyhow, yeah I guess there are several recordings of this woman's murder to come back to the case, as you said, Tons of evidence in other words as you said.

NYC and area around are certainly hitting the news this month in more than one case... No surprise of course there's likely crime every hour and minute but that news is running with and interest is so up in such is well not typical imo... I mean for every one made a big deal, probably 100,000 or more one never hears of of course.
