“As I moved closer, I could hear somebody making noise and yelling. I started to get close to the building and climbed into the debris, and I could hear him saying that he was over there, and I could see his arm sticking up through the debris and waving his hand,” Nicholas Balboa, a man from Phoenix, told CNBC’s “The News with Shepard Smith” on Thursday night.

“He was just saying, ‘Please don’t leave me, please don’t leave me.’ I told him that we weren’t going to leave him,” Balboa said. “It was myself and one other person. So, we were there and we just felt like we could get to him. It didn’t feel right to just leave him, especially hearing that his voice was just so young.”

Balboa was in Surfside, Florida, to visit his father when Champlain Towers South building crumbled early Thursday. According to NBC News, authorities were called about the collapse around 1:30 a.m. ET

I have a very hard time with them demolishing the building with not recovering all the victims. Nothing for the families to bury.

The detonation will aim to bring the remaining portion of the building straight down and toward the street side, away from the existing pile of debris, Jadallah said. Search-and-rescue efforts should resume between 15 and 60 minutes after the structure is brought down, he said.

The method of demolition is called “energetic felling,” which uses small detonation devices and relies on the force of gravity. Levine Cava said that brings the building down in place, containing the collapse to the immediate surroundings.

The demo will actually help them bevause there is a very large area they cant safely.get that they know there arevictims at. The remaining structure is too unstable for them to do what they need to do.

I would die trying to get Oreo before leaving her. I'm not insulting any of these people. I wasn't there.

I read there was a cat on a balcony they were trying to rescue.
They've left food & water for the cat however it hasn't been spotted by any rescue personnel. They are still searching for any that can be rescued first.

The trying to recover as many victims as possible reminds me of 9/11. I can't help it. I also can't help thinking in this case also that there will be victims they won't be able to recover. Like 9/11.
Maybe memories of 9/11 are making it worse for me. I dunno. I just keep thinking of the surviving family members and I just lose it.

The drilling work was completed Sunday, and the remaining structure was scheduled to come down between 10 p.m. Sunday and 3 a.m. Monday, barring any last-minute glitch such as someone entering the restricted zone around the building, Miami-Dade Assistant Fire Chief Raide Jadallah told relatives of those missing in the collapse.
