DAVID "DAVE" EDWIN LEWIS: Murder & arson 13 miles east of Ashland, OR - 4 September 2008

David "Dave" Lewis was a 46 year old father of three. A jack of all trades and good man in any camp, Dave was well known and well respected in his mountain community where he lived on the summit of Dead Indian Memorial Road, 13 miles east of Ashland, Jackson County, Oregon for more than 20 years.

David was found dead after a fire at his rural cabin at 12801 Dead Indian Memorial Road. He had been murdered, shot & the cabin set fire.

David's remains were identified by DNA. There was also ANOTHER FIRE near Dave's cabin that same night, at a vacant vacation cabin at 18196 Dead Indian Memorial Road, about 5-6 miles away.

I don't think we have a TOD for Dave do we? Someone tied him up and shot him in the head. Could he have come home and discovered them ransacking his property and they overpowered him and tied him up then shot him and set the place alight heading to the other cabin to get that one lit as a distraction. When was Dave last seen or spoken to on that day? We know less than we know about Troy.

No, pretty sure not any TOD that anyone could be sure of. Anything is possible. Imo since he was such a creature of habit as to hanging at the resortt bar most nights, many would know this and likely know the home to be unoccupied if someone wanted to either ransack it or lay in wait for him. I tend to lean towards the fact he worked there, had upset most, ratted on them or so it sounds, and he was upset when other workers stayed on when they went ahead against what it was said were stop work orders basically by officials... I think it relates to this most likely and/or someone followed him from the bar or did lay for him. I don't see honestly why you'd frequent a bar when you are on the outs with the owners and so on. I don't even know though that he WAS there that night, didn't RC think it likely as it was a usual habit for him? He could have went anywhere for all we know or had anything going on OR never went anywhere at all.

I'd have to assume and think LE knows far more than us BUT they've done nothing and charged no one and giving no such further info in 15+ years right? Has anyone tried FOIAs with them? I'd say they'd better get active on these cases, give some info or call them cold and provide what they do have. Not sure it works that way but that's what i'd say should be done at this point.

Has RC or family or anyone gotten someone on these cases? There are several YTers who get after these records, interviews and more and request them, there is also the doc guy who I think is Twitter many of them rely on who gets such stuff.

I thought when I saw activity we did but then it was you wondering what I am lol. So the cases come in, and now no one around nor any discussion on them. That's the way it goes with cases I guess, hot with talk amongst some and then cold and no one discussing.

I just did that with Morphew. That arguably has been my top case (of many these last years) but when quiet or nothing new or discussion and others have come on the radar for cases, I don't forget ever but quieter with no news or someone else not there to discuss with, etc.

These two are old but new to us and were interesting but then all interest just drops. I look for new posts and activity on cases, how I just ended up here. We all have lives and maybe red clover is busy. I'm still keen on discussing them though or any cases and keeping them active, in the "news" or on threads but that takes being reminded and seeing new posts on such too. Especially with those I never knew of or followed from the get go.

There was one person who came in here, started the thread and pushed her theories which did seem a bit farfetched but I knew nothing of the case (but still thought that). The person disappeared one day as quickly as she came. If you've read the thread, you can see it pretty much died out after that and that such is the truth. It seemed as I said farfetched. to me, can't recall how much I said about it being so, was trying to be nice, but I think I did hint to her at minimum that I found it such.

What is your theory on why there have been no arrests? And what is "The Spirit of Ashland", I can't recall if she talked of such or not. I'd be interested in your opinion on it all.

You can research Oregon Public Records to find: he is registered for life. Had a years long molestation of a young teen. Sodomized her, among other crimes. Molesters tend to be friendly, jovial, people like them; always shocked when they find out about that nice neighbor, friend, co worker, etc.

Dave’s xxxwife said Jesus forgives. Dave was like a tiger in a cage… it was the beginning of the end. His downfall and ruining of his life. 10 years later he was murdered and body burned.

There is definitely a link with Troy Carney the truck lumper. Both men were killed in the same manner.

Medical examiner’s work, proves. The detective’s have been very clear there, “ is a link, although the men may not have known each other.” That would be person, place, or thing.

Discovered as murdered on the same day, not murdered on the same day.
It appears to me that Troy was murdered within hours of when he was last seen 3 days prior.

Regina that is correct. They were found murdered on the same day. However, the medical examiner stated that the timelines of death between the two men, was much closer than originally thought.
Since Troy’s phone had no charge…he may have been alive longer. That the deaths occurred much closer than originally thought. Thank you.
