FBI joins search for Felicia Johnson, woman who disappeared after applying for job at Houston nightclub

The FBI is now assisting Houston police in the search for Felicia Johnson, the 24-year-old who disappeared after applying for a job at a northwest Houston nightclub.

Felicia, who also uses the name Felivia Marie, has been missing for 12 days. According to her family, she was in Houston to celebrate her 24th birthday and to make some extra money when she disappeared without a trace.

Kevin Johnson said his daughter came to Houston on April 13. Two days later, she went to apply for a job at Cover Girls gentlemen's club off West Little York.

Community activist Quanell X, who is assisting Felicia's family in the search, said once she didn't get the job, she got in the car with an unknown man because her Uber was running late. That's the last time she was seen.

Her bloody phone was later found on Eldridge Parkway near Bear Creek Park by private investigators.

Last week, Texas EquuSearch spent three days searching the area where Felicia's phone was found but didn't find any more signs of the missing woman. They're waiting for direction from HPD to continue their search efforts.

Crime Stoppers has offered a $5,000 reward for information that could lead to the whereabouts of Felicia.

Felicia Johnson latest: Dad speaks out for first time after learning daughter was murdered

It’s been two months since police put a face to the man wanted for 24-year-old Felicia Johnson’s murder.

Chukweubuka Nwobdo,28, has been charged with murder and tampering with evidence in Johnson's case.

Nwobdo is still not in custody and Felicia’s body still has not been found.

Felicia's father, Kevin, has been silent since learning his daughter was murdered, but Wednesday he spoke exclusively to KHOU 11 News.

It was Kevin's plea to the Houston community that sparked extensive search efforts for Felicia, but the outcome of the search wasn't what he was hoping for.

"I felt like that could have killed me just to find out like that what happened to her and the information," he said. "It was very difficult for me as a father to just know that I’m not going to see my daughter ever again and ever talk to her again."

Court documents revealed Johnson had met Nwobodo on an online escort site. Police say Nwobodo called an Uber to Johnson's hotel in the medical center where she was eventually taken to his apartment.

Investigators say they found DNA matching Felicia's at his apartment and in his car a gun, knife, and shovel.

Kevin said he’s still trying to process the details.

“'I've been dealing with depression, severe PTSD, anxiety, high blood pressure you name it," he told KHOU 11 News.

He said his family is in need of closure and won’t stop until there is justice for Felicia.

"I can't sleep. I can't stop before my daughter is found and this man is found."

KHOU 11 reached out to the Houston Police Department for an update on the investigation and so far, has not heard back.

HOUSTON — The body of a California woman who was visiting Houston last year may have been found nearly two hours outside the city, her family said.

Felicia Johnson, 24, was from San Diego and went missing in Houston in April 2022.

Her family believes the search for their loved one is over, though the search for the man charged in her death continues.

Felcia's father, Kevin Johnson, says he got a call from Houston police, saying that remains found are believed to be that of his daughter.

"He wouldn't have called me. They wouldn’t have notified me if they didn't think it was her," Kevin Johnson said. "I believe it’s her."

This comes as Montgomery County Justice of the Peace Wayne Mack said a TxDOT worker found possible skeletal remains in Sam Houston National Forest Tuesday, but they have not confirmed whether it is connected to Felicia’s case. Mack said the remains, which have not been identified, were found along with a trash bag and cadaver dogs returned to the site to search more on Thursday.

"Some jewelry was on the body that was hers," Kevin Johnson said. "We’re just waiting for the dental records to actually have the 100 percent."

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas — Human remains found in the Sam Houston National Forest earlier this month have been confirmed as Felicia Johnson, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and JP Wayne Mack.

The search for the man charged with killing her continues.

Johnson, 24, was from San Diego and vanished during a trip to Houston in April 2022. Her father said jewelry found with the remains on Feb. 7 was his daughter's.

They were sent for DNA and dental record analysis, according to the sheriff's office.

"It is with a heavy heart that we report dental records have confirmed that the human remains are that of missing person Felicia Johnson of California," the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said in a statement. "Our hearts go out to the Johnson family and friends and we hope this brings them some closure."
