(CNN)Four Minneapolis police officers have been fired for their involvement in the death of a black man who was held down with a knee as he protested that he couldn't breathe, officials said Tuesday.

The FBI is investigating the incident, which drew widespread condemnation of the officers after a video showing part of the encounter circulated on social media.

Thanks!

With a trial of this kind of magnitude, I don't have a personal opinion because I would want to watch the whole trial from beginning to end and I don't have the time of day at this point. I personally haven't seen anything that has swayed me away from believing Chauvin used excessive force and that Mr. Floyd should still be alive today, however.

That's a very hard thing to justify.

Thanks!

I have not seen it all by any means but I am trying to see most witnesses but have missed a few days and hours definitely.

Today the defense started. Imo, I was surprised and expected far more and better. Every witness, imo, ended up probably more beneficial for the prosecution and not for the defense. Of course there are many out there who are pro-Chauvin who think the opposite (I don't see how they can but they crow as if the defense did great and I don't see any such thing). I am trying to look at it objectively and in no way was anything today any great help for the defense. I gather more experts are coming and there was talk amongst attorneys and judge at end of day that prosecution means to impeach someone in the next day or so. I suspect it is a defense expert... My reasoning for that is experts are coming and I just know they can be impeached if not qualified to be an expert and for various other things, perhaps more commonly than some other types of witnesses...

They sat in the car, chatting and talking about what they were about to do, she told the court. Then she said she got a phone call from her daughter, and while she was on the phone, Floyd fell asleep.

Store employees then approached the car about a suspected counterfeit $20 bill that Floyd had used earlier. Hill said that she, the store clerks and a friend of Floyd's tried to wake him up. Floyd would wake up momentarily and say something or make a gesture, then nod off again, Hill testified.

Hill told the clerks that she would wake Floyd up and send him into the store. She tried again to wake up Floyd before taking another phone call.

She was not happy to be there and did not like either side imo. She rolled her eyes a lot and did not like just "yes" or "no" questions. She did show though, was subpoenaed, I believe and did answer questions. I don't think she was of much help. Jmo.

Both sides rested. Chauvin questioned about his choice to testify and if was his own choice by first his attorney and then judge. He opted not to. Prosecution put up a rebuttal witness. Then both sides rested when that witness was through. Closings and then jury deliberations starting Monday with sequestering.

Hi All,
Just wanted to let you know that I figured out what's been triggering me so badly during this trial (haven't watched all of it by any means, but I've seen enough). My mother died of asthma when I was 4 years old. I didn't attend the funeral or visitation, but I clearly recall her leaving for the hospital- she told me she was going to go get better so she could come home and take care of me. Within several hours she was dead. My aunt told me she had bruises on her face from holding the oxygen mask so tightly against her face, trying to get air. I don't remember her many asthma attacks, but I'm sure, in my subconscious mind I remember her wheezing and being short of breath. Watching the videos of George Floyd trying to breathe and not being able to has really gotten to me; I've been having crying spells and thinking of my mom, so I was finally able to put it together. Not that the videos aren't horrible by themselves, but they've been hitting me much more deeply and painfully than I initially realized.
Just wanted to let you all know this, and that nothing that's been said here is the cause of my reactions.
Thanks for understanding!

That is more than understandable and I am really sorry to hear that. Child death cases trigger me and bring out a very strong reaction more often than not.

On top of that, if you follow the Floyd case in other spots than here, there are some very nasty extreme remarks in comments in some places. And the case and video itself is very hard to watch/deal with and that's without having other reasons it may trigger you as you do. :hugs:

@GarAndMo39 When you can, check your messages..... I replied to an earlier one you left for me

That has to be a horrific memory to carry, Gar&. I can't imagine you were able to follow this trial with those thoughts following you. My heart goes out to you. Do take time to treat yourself gentler. ❤️

I have removed a meme and related discussion. Please do not discuss it any further.

The meme was political with direct mention of a certain political party. If you want to discuss politics, do so in the political forum.
The meme is also factually incorrect. Starting with the fact that the woman pictured is not the woman mentioned in the caption (she's not connected to George Floyd in any way AT ALL) among other inaccuracies. Is This Aracely Henriquez, the Woman George Floyd Allegedly Assaulted? | Snopes.com
We don't need to spread misinformation here. If I was the victim of a brutal assault I would not want my pictures being used as a misinformation campaign against another entirely unrelated person.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Police don't get to kill "guilty' people either. Police don't get to kill "scumbags" either. What George Floyd may or may not have done does not change the fact that he was murdered, as determined by the jury.

ETA - Just to clarify. You're free to discuss Floyd's criminal history. Or Chauvin's history of brutality. As long as it's the truth and can be verified. The meme was removed because it's political, factually incorrect, and includes a photo of an unrelated victim. Not because it paints Floyd a certain way.
