She vanished in 1993; Now the FBI is making an online push to find her

By Brett Barrouquere, Houston Chronicle Published 12:12 pm, Sunday, April 9, 2017

Jane McDonald-Crone didn't show up for work at a Houston tool company the morning of Nov. 12, 1993.
No one had heard from her nor seen her. She wasn't at home in Magnolia, nor in class at North Harris Community College in Tomball. Her husband reported her missing.
The mystery deepened when McDonald-Crone, then 34, was spotted two days later at a nightclub in Harris County dancing with a man.
NO SHOW: UH student reported missing after not taking flight for job interview
The witness reported her wearing dark jeans, a light colored blouse with long sleeves, and white sneakers.
But, still, no one saw where the couple went or who, exactly, she was with.
Things took another turn on Nov. 16, 1993, when Crone's 1982 blue Ford Mustang, with Texas license number FXY-01G was found November 16, 1993, in southwest Montgomery County, Texas, a few miles from her home.

A work crew reported seeing the car there two or three days earlier.
Other than her textbooks for classwork, no purse or identification were found in the car.
What became of Jane McDonald-Crone remains a mystery. The FBI is treating it as a kidnapping and has added her to it's database of unsolved cases in Texas.

The mother and North Harris County College student never returned home.

The Unnerving Mystery of a Texas Woman Who Vanished, Returned, Then Vanished Again

In 1993, a woman left her home in Magnolia, Texas headed to Houston for her job, and never returned home.

It is believed Jane visited several nightclubs in Harris County on the night of her disappearance and was last seen at 1 am. She had been dancing with an unidentified man. She was last seen wearing dark jeans, a light-colored long-sleeved shirt, and white tennis shoes/sneakers. Crone's husband reported her missing on November 15, 1993.

Law enforcement believes that Jane was kidnapped. The police found her 1982 blue Ford Mustang, a few days later on November 16, 1993. It was found 3 miles from her home. No signs of violence were found in the car, neither was her identification or purse. Her community college textbooks were found in the car.

Here's where the story gets weird, 27 years after her disappearance. It was believed that she might have been found in Mexico. Back in March 2021, a man by the name of Abraham Gonzalez in Monterrey, Mexico, found a homeless woman lying under a blanket. After offering the woman help and talking with her, it was believed that this woman was Jane McDonald-Crone.

According to TV Azteca, a woman by the name of Sonia de la Garza, said that a US detective told them that Crone's family was located and that they said this woman looked similar.

It was also mentioned that the woman was unable to be located not long after and was also being sheltered in the National Migration Institute.
