Police seem to be no closer to finding 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan than they were when this story began months ago.

Since that time, the story has gained international attention as it’s taken twists and turns involving a purported cult, dead spouses, delusions of divinity and preparing for the end of the world. Despite all the angles, and the ever-growing number of people related to the case, the facts remain essentially the same as when it was first announced.

The two children remain missing and the parents, Lori (Vallow) Daybell, and her new husband, Chad Daybell, refuse to disclose their whereabouts to police. Both have been named persons of interest in the disappearance of the children. Law enforcement is also investigating the deaths of the Daybells’ previous respective spouses, Charles Vallow and Tammy Daybell, though neither Chad nor Lori have been named suspects in those cases.

Written timeline of events
  • April 3, 2018 - Tylee Ryan's father, Joseph Ryan, dies. Death ruled heart attack.
  • December 2018 - Chad Daybell & Lori Vallow make first appearance on Preparing a People podcast.
  • February 2019 - Charles Vallow files for divorce from Lori, claiming she viewed herself as a god preparing for the second coming, and she would kill him if he got in her way.
  • February - April 2019 - Lori disappears for nearly two months, leaving her children with others.
  • June 2019 - Lori's niece demands a divorce from her husband, who says she shares similar beliefs to her aunt.
  • July 11, 2019 - Charles Vallow shot and killed by Lori's brother Alex Cox. Shooting initially ruled self-defense.
  • August 2019 - Lori moves to Rexburg, Idaho with kids
  • September 3, 2019 - Joshua "JJ" Vallow enrolled in school
  • September 23, 2019 - JJ last attended school
  • September 24, 2019 - Lori unenrolls JJ from school, saying she would be homeschooling him.
  • September 2019 - Tylee also seen in September, but it's unclear when and where (she had graduated early)
  • October 2, 2019 - Lori's niece's ex-husband was shot at, missing his head by inches. Shooter was driving a vehicle registered to Charles Vallow.
  • October 9, 2019 - Tammy Daybell, Chad's wife, called 911 and said a masked man shot at her with a paintball gun.
  • October 19, 2019 - Tammy Daybell dies, death is ruled natural
  • October 25, 2019 - Tylee, or someone using her phone, texts a friend
  • Late October / Early November 2019 - Chad Daybell & Lori Vallow get married
  • November 26, 2019 - Welfare check requested for JJ at the request of extended family - police are told he is in Arizona with family, but he is not
  • November 27, 2019 - Police return to serve a search warrant, finding the Daybell's gone
  • December 12, 2019 - Lori's brother, who had shot her ex-husband, dies mysteriously in Arizona
  • December 20, 2019 - Search for JJ and Tylee goes public
  • December 30, 2019 - LE says Lori knows where her children are but will not cooperate
  • January 25, 2020 - Chad & Lori are located in Hawaii, served with a notice that she must produce the children within 5 days
  • January 30, 2020 - Lori fails to produce JJ and Tylee

More I knew of but wasn't as fresh in my mind, worth a listen and relevant I think to put in the record here. This was to be a kid free 144,000 and Lori did not want JJ any more and told a friend this.

A short one. The friend from Hawaii.

 
Also before I forget I want to mention Chad's property is four acres. We all knew it was smaller but couldn't recall and I think had thoughts of 20 or 10 or less. It is only four. Which imo is not much. Meaning things were closer together than one would think and not so far of a walk, etc. and on top of it as we have seen the property is pretty open (not much for trees, etc.

Many years ago, I had little concept of acreage and a listing caught my eye with five acres. We went to look at it and I was shocked at how little five acres was let's just put it that way. It too was mainly open. Until that point I would have thought five acres was huge.

Don't get me wrong, it is a nice sized lot versus a city lot or a home on one or two acres but it isn't vast or like walking how far to get to the shed, etc.

So just putting it in here for reference as I was one, and I think others too, trying to recall how big the property was.

Clearly though they were already they were already planning it by then so maybe not. Lori wanted to "get back" with Charles to manipulate money and be sure she was on his policy (didn't work) so it was the plan already. Both spouses had to go and then the kids for their freedom, money and plan.

Thanks for the clarification. Because of the overhead photos, I only thought it was about an acre or two. I grew up on 1 acre so I have a pretty good concept of an acre.

I grew up on an acre too. Which was a nice big yard, don't get me wrong but as you know it isn't like you can't holler across it. I lived on two acres for some years as an adult and then 12 acres. So yeah, I've got a pretty good sense of the size I'd say. And Chad's is mostly pretty wide open so not what I'd call overly private with neighbors around him.

On some level imo they have to know. Maybe they tell themselves he killed her because Lori made him, turned him bad, beguiled him or whatever. And maybe they don't do that either. I do think people in denial when all the facts show them otherwise, when of at least a certain age and not young children, know it on some level or deep in their hearts or their soul?
 
They are both astoundingly full of s***. The way he looks at her in that picture. Creepy. But she's worse IMO. Chad dumbbell. But both evil, Self absorbed, Self serving, Do anything and justify it, Ridiculous cult believing, Out of touch with reality morons.

I know because she is sooo whatever and he so more silent it seems like she's worse but I think it is at least equal and I think more likely he is worse. I think he was hands on with JJ and Tammy and he was the manipulative master. Believe me the more silent types of men often aren't just some nice quiet, shy guy they are snakes in the grass and he's one of such.

This case is ridiculous in that they aren't releasing who witnesses are coming up day to day etc. Just more of the secret, sealed stuff.

Yeah, Chad and Alex keep coming front and center, and Chad maybe even more so...

The stuff with her is there, and enough I feel, but they can't cover all with impact in summarizing each day imo but it is clear she knew, and she was part of it. It isn't stunning or shockingly blatant and I think because much of it we knew before, it doesn't astound us as that Perry Mason type of dramatic moment.

I just ran into this and it is only 5 minutes. This attorney puts it together well, the mounting of things against Lori, etc. It fits what you are talking of here, no smoking gun or huge thing you can sink your teeth into but a LOT and more to come I'm sure. She thinks it is all there and damning to Lori. I do as well but couldn't have likely worded it as well or strung it together in the same way. Worth a watch for anyone. And I'm not an overall News Nation fan lol. Kind of middle of the road in my opinion of them but their guest makes good points here. She also thinks the judge made the right decision on allowing things re Charles' death because it is more probative than prejudicial.
